Hi
although I am not an expert but would try to answer your questions to the best of my ability.
The IIMs are considered premium in addition to ISB, XLRI, JBIMS and a few more. Depends on ur definition of prem inst.
Similarly the kinda scores one need for these institutes vary. Generally 99.xx percentile is considered gud enough to fetch a call from IIMs not to forget other criterions such as weightage to acads, work ex, Extracurriculars etc. These criterions are different for every inst. and change every year.
even a 99.9 percentile doesnt guarantee ur call if u fall short in any of these criterions as is the case with many ppl this year.

As for GMAT,you can appear anytime in 2011. check on the college sites whether they accept score from 1 year in past or more. Some institutes accept past 2-3 year scores as well.

Hope it would be of some help.

Hi,

I am your regular run of the mill code monkey. I have 56 months of IT experience.

I am currently in the US, but I am not keen to pursue an MBA here, the loans repayment and the longer stay period work against it.

I have never taken the GMAT, have tried to bell the CAT(albeit unsuccessfully) three times. My strength lies in the Verbal section (99 % all the three times in CAT). I have been told that this may work in my favor in GMAT, although I really would like to know if the myth-busters in PG will dispel this.

After this rant, I finally get to the point.

To pursue an MBA in India,

1. What range of score should I be looking at to get into the premier colleges.
2. What are the premier colleges say such as ISB and IIM-A (pardon my ignorance about colleges)
3. By when should I give a GMAT if I am looking at the next years academic session.

Please suggest any reputed colleges (even outside India) which you feel may help me in my miserly viewpoint.

Thanks in anticipation.

Regards,
Kali
