Exactly. Just solve 8-9 Puzzles and Lo you hv the job. Exactly the reason why Im not interested to apply for the Infy test. How can you gauge a person by giving him puzzles to solve ? And the kinda recruitment they hv, its more like they want slaves rather than employees.(No offence meant to Infy employees). But then it's really a great place to work. Thats the reason why I suggested him the Maruti offer. Its gonna be a 9-5 job, unless you are in some other shift. So you can come back happily at 5. (I assume this is how it goes @ tech jobs). Have you ever seen a s/ware fresher breathe easy during his 1st year @ Work ?

Its not really like that in tech jobs. even in plants where workers dont work beyond 5 the staff has to stay back till 7 or 8 and if its month or year end then maybe whole shifts. of course there will be always some post where u can come back sooner. but then even in software u have ppl sitting on bench. but yes its better than infy cos of 2 reasons.
1. its highly unlikely one will get short term(read high stress) projects. so no 24x7 work before cat.
2. and more importantly it differentiates you during the interview process as i found this time. with almost 60% being enggs and of those 80% being s/w its nice to spk something else with the panel other than coding and projects and all.

but then life wont be as pretty as on the s/wside with all your colleagues being twice your age and u might just keep wondering if u're in the wrong place. but then lifes always green on the other side, right!

I have a final call from FMS and a job in maruti and infy. I also had 4 iim calls(a,b,c,l) but couldn't convert any of them. Although i think that joining fms would be the logical thing to do i am not very sure. So would appreciate if you ppl could take some time out and give me some advice.

Also will it be practical/possible/sensible to prepare for CAT while being in FMS?
Could u ppl also tell me as to what is the extent to which the big three(iim a,b,c) are better than fms in the short and the long run.

I know i have asked a lot of questions but pls advice as it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for your time and help

Hi

Me too in the same position. I have a final call from FMS and rejects from C,L .I am in final year of my engineering and have job offers from Flextronics,Accenture and Wipro.

I have decided not to join FMS. I will be joining Flextronics and will give CAT one more shot this year. This was an instantaneous decison and i didnt have to think alot for that because for me its either IIM's or nothing.I think these decision are totally personal so only listen to ur heart and decide what u want............what is more important for u an MBA degree or an IIM tag.For me its IIM tag which is more important and with age on my side(going to be 21 this month) I think I can wait for an MBA degree.I know I MAY have to regert on my decision but if i join FMS now i will surly regret for my entire life that i didnt give IIM's another shot.Joining FMS and the preparing for CAT I think is not a good option because then u wont able to do justice with both of them instead gain one year of work-ex which may help u in future.well these are my personal views.I think u should sit alone and then decide what do u want.At the end of day u should feel satisfied which is only possible if u listen to ur heart and follow ur dreams. If u have the confidence that u can crack CAT and r willing to prepare for CAT for one more year then leave FMS and join ur join else join FMS....................

hi

it depends what specialisations you are looking at. If you are plannin on ops.SCM, go for NITIE,it's a no-brainer.

between FMS n MDI, FMS has the advantage of being cheaper and of being around for a longer time.

MDI scores in terms of infrastructure and International exposure.

Anyways, the chances of MDI waitlist clearin upto your number seem bleak goin by the current trends

FMS shud clear, so have fun and rock the place

hi folks,

This is actually my first post to Pagalguy!! I am Bala frm Chennai n I have an admit in NITIE n wailist 88 in MDI n waitlist 37 in FMS....i think chances of moi geting thru in FMS r fairly high n i want some gyaan on FMS Vs. NITIE/MDI

i realise that most ppl wud close their eyes n say FMS.... reasons for my dielemma is one and only one factor....

Hostel life to me seems like the Holy Grail of an MBA....And i think not having an in-house hostel where evryone in ur class stays can ruin much of the fun...even in my B-Tech the hostel was the most unforgettable part of the 4 yrs by far....cant imagine an MBA without hostel parties, booze, grass, rock shows n the like.....Plus, cuz my waitlist is 37, i may not even make it to the hostel outside campus called V.K.R.V Rao whr most of the FMS junta stay....wud really appreciate it if sum FMS seniors can throw sum light on the issue of how hostel life in V.K.RV is/isn't......

First of all I am a class mate of "the_columban" and would like to explain the hidden meaning in his post

I almost made the biggest blunder of my life by not joining FMS.

Yes we all know why

Thanks to mohit and veryone who encouraged me to join and forget about cat. THANKS a TON.
Why do i say so?

Hmmm...why so much gratitude. I am sure you have to tell mohit more considering that.

This place rocks. the ppl here are gr8. the seniors and juniors are like a closely knit group (manily because of the small batch size). we have very talented ppl in our batch, ranging from du toppers to ca/cs, iitians, nsitians( ), ppl from korea, uzbekistan, ppl who have done international dance shows etc.

Cant disagree with that esp the batch being talented 😁 .

Well FMS is one of the best B-schools you can be in. "It is competition and rivalry with a Human face"
I am sure anyone who thinks of chucking FMS for another shot at the IIMs is making a big mistake.
I dont want to be going on and on about FMS.

Although now I truly believe that Mohit would have chucked Harvard to be in FMS 😁
