Any alternate method to solve this than the one mentioned in the AIMCAT 1716 Solutions?

f (x) is a polynomial of degree four such that f (1) = 1, f (2) = 2, f (3) = 3, and f (4) = 4. If f (0) = 24, then find f (5).

 Can Someone explain this one?

A grid of lines comprises 21 equidistant lines parallel to the x axis and 31 equidistant lines parallel to the y axis. A straight line is now drawn from one corner of the grid to the diagonally opposite corner. At how many distinct points does the diagonal line intersect the lines in the grid?

Reduce (31-1)/(21-1)=30/20 to lowest form which is 3/2. In the 3x2 grid, join the opposite points and count the points. Once you know number of points in 3x2 grid, just scale it to 30x20 grid. You will have the answer. Should be 41.

Any alternate solution for this question than the one mentioned in the solutions?

In an Arithmetic Progression, if the sum of the first 53 terms is equal to the sum of the first 119 terms, then find the ratio of the sum of the first 103 terms to the sum of the first 69 terms.

see...its a 4th degree polynomial but the values are such that it seems its a linear one ..which means the values are such that it masks the effects of the higher powers

so (x-1)*(x-2)... thing must surely be present along with a linear component ..thats ax+b

after that its easy ... if u face further problem do ping me in fb !
