SIMCAT 5 Quant question-
Set A represents the set of all perfect squares up to 10000. In how many ways can two distinct numbers be selected from A such that their sum will be a multiple of 10?
Can somebody please explain the approach followed in solutions, I am unable to understand it.
Q10 Sec DI/LR
According to the solution number of correct answers are 51 and number of wrong answers are 49.
So total adds upto
51*12 = 612 positive
(49-10) * 6 + (5*3) + (5*4) = 269 negative
Therefore, total = 612-269 = 343
is the solution wrong ?????
Hello whoever gave SIMCAT5, I was trying to solve the QA section myself again. Many ques which i didn't do on exam day I cud do now, but those questions were still wrong. Many were stupidly wrong and effort taking.....Honest ques to all experienced CAT prep guys....does CAT give such ques which require not much brains but are just simply long 3-4 mins they might consume....???
I mean most of them had no options, TITA with solutions involving long case makings.....really does CAT give such ques???

Does anyone has any shortcut to solve the below question other than the brute force method ?
QA 13. If a^3 + b^3 is either 1729 or 4104, and a & b are both positive integers (a > b). How many pairs of (a, b) are possible?
Unlike squares(which always end with 0, 5,1, 9, 4, 6 only ), we can not apply the property of unit digits as a cube can end with any of 0-9.
