M.Sc Environmental Science (pursuing final year) - 82.75% College topper... Extra curricular - State level gymnast, best gymnast of the year (school), certificate in mountaineering and adventure sports, online courses in conflict resolution, project management. Internships - Content writing for a sports website and marketing with an organisation. Volunteering work - AIESEC, UN, JLF, Bhumi, etc. Will my non engineering backround effect my chances to get placed? How are placements at bits, as I see that the classroom conversion is less (40 out of 60) what about other 20 candidates? Is is a good option for non engineering student to join in terms of placements.
AVERY DENNISON FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF THE 5th EDITION OF InvEnt ‘SPIRIT OF INVENTION’ SCHOLARSHIP IN INDIA 10 meritorious students have been awarded Rs.1,00,000/- approx. each INDIA (August 29, 2016) – Avery Dennison Foundation, a philanthropic arm of the Avery Dennison Corporation, announced the winners of the fifth edition of InvEnt ‘Spirit of Invention’ Scholarship in India at an event held in Bangalore today at Taj Vivanta, Yeshwanthpur. This program is designed to recognize and reward the ‘spirit of invention’ amongst entrepreneurial and high-achieving undergraduate students in the fields of science, engineering and technology at select higher education institutions in India and China. Avery Dennison Foundation, in collaboration with the Institute of International Education (IIE), developed the program to encourage students to continue to pursue educational opportunities in these fields after graduation by helping them meet their financial needs during their college attendance. “The foundation is keen on encouraging fresh thinking and through this scholarship, our goal is for students to express their innovative ideas and foster their passion effectively,” said Moji Akingbade, general manager, Avery Dennison India. She further added, “With respect to the winners, each student was chosen for his or her high academic standing and potential to think innovatively. We believe they will be future leaders who will positively change the world.” With respect to the selection process of these top 10 scholars, Alicia Maddox, president, Avery Dennison Foundation and vice president, Corporate Social Responsibility said, “The selection process is a rigorous two-stage process where students apply through an online portal and a three-member panel is identified and invited to work independently for the selection of the scholars”. Maddox further explains the process in detail where in the first stage, the panelists screen the online applications and score them on the basis of specific criteria like the ‘Spirit of Invention Essay,’ ‘academics’ and ‘extra-curricular activities’. Once IIE/New Delhi receives the ratings from the selectors, the scoring is compiled for each shortlisted student to determine ranking of applications. Following this, a half-day meeting takes place at IIE/New Delhi office in which the panellists convene to discuss the applications and determine the 20 finalists who will advance to the personal interview stage. In the second stage, personal interviews of the shortlisted candidates take place in New Delhi in which they also present their ideas to the selection panel. This concludes with the final selection of the top 10 candidates. The 10 winners who were felicitated this year are Aakriti Agrawal - BITS Pilani, Alanckrit Jain - BITS Pilani, Anirudh Tusnial - BITS Pilani, Anmol Gupta - BITS Pilani, Anubodh Yadav - St. Stephen's College, Delhi, Neeraj Gadi - BITS Pilani, Shravan Patankar - PVG COET, Shreenidhi Vinze - PVG COET, Vaibhav Agarwal - BITS Pilani and Vinay Gusain - St. Stephen's College.
