@Mods,

There is one more parallel thread going on for discussion on MHCET Options.

This may be a redundant thread as I find many posts same here as in the other threads.

Suggest, we keep only one thread open (MHCET Provisional results out) so that the responses/views to a particular post may be maximum. It will save everyone's time and effort.

marks are tools for deciding ranks.
everything thing depends upon rank only.
but to talk in terms of rank is difficult.
so ppl generally use marks in conversation.

Yea but in CET 2 People can have same marks and its possible 1 student gets into a college and other not...neways that clears the whole scenario that there is no minimum cut off of any institution if seats are empty they are offered to the next best candidate

CET is one of the simplest exam process. very simple logic and transparent.

ther are 100 seats at X insti and 50 at Y insti.
so if digital fills options:
1: X
2: Y

Other guy analog fills option same as above and has better rank than digital.
similarly ther are 99 students above analog filling same options.
analog is 100th. X has only 100seats.
so analog gets alloted in X.
and digital being next gets Y.
if suppose analog doesn't confirm admission, that seat stays vacant and gets alloted to digital in subsequent rounds.
ther is a constraint that if u are alloted top 5 options of Round 1 you have to jhak marke confirm it.
similary, hav to confirm top 10 for second round and any of the options for 3rd round.

But in CET Technically they will fill all the seats based on ranks if i am not wrong.. if there are seats empty or left seats these go to cap 2 and so the process goes on... i am not sure if such a thing like min cut off exists in the CAP system .. Correct me if i am wrong

even IIM and other CAT based colleges entertain some number of ppl.
the ppl after that are not allowed.
and the marks of last person are declared to be the cut off.
now wat do u think IIM A does.
they must be calling some 1000ppl for gdpi.
rank/percentile of 1000th person was the CUT OFF for IIM A, This is wat we say.
similarly, 100seats, marks of last student is cut off.

I Really dont understand why do you guys say cut offs..

IN The CAP Rounds they fill the available seats based on the ranks...so cut offs here would be the lowest score at what an open student got in...

or is it like this

they have 60 seats
the cut of is set by dte say 140
now 40 people have score above 140...
there are 20 seats still left are you guys saying these 20 seats will be not alloted ??
