About this group
Hey everyone, This is Paras Sharma. I'm a student of the 2009-2011 batch of MA in Counseling, which would make me your to-be Senior. Since there isn't a thread here for the Counseling batch this year, I decided to create one for you guys. If you...

After the long admission process, the results are finally here, and as
is the nature of these things, its a time of celebration for some of
you, while for others its one of disappointment. For others still, its
one of mixed feelings. But all I can tell you at this point is that
the final rounds were very hard fought and the difference between a
candidate who has been selected and one who has been wait-listed is
barely a sliver. With 21 seats on offer, it was inevitable that a lot
of you wouldn't get to hear the result that you wished to.
I'm certain that you guys will pick yourselves up from hereon and I
hope that you continue with this field because it needs as many
committed professionals as it can get.
Coming to those of you who are wait-listed, whatever your W/L number,
there is still hope. Yours truly was wait-listed too, and until as
late as the first week of college people had second thoughts about
whether they wanted to be a part of this course. So this is certainly
NOT the end of the road, but do focus your energies on your upcoming
exams (if any) or other entrances, because its never wise to put all
your eggs in one basket.
And last but not the least, Congratulations to all of you who have
made it to the second batch of MA in Counseling! My classmates and I
have been keenly following the whole process and are thrilled at the
idea of meeting our first Junior batch! A few of you have already
informed me about your results and I appreciate the fact that you
chose to share your joy with me.
As is usual, a 2010-2012 Google group for TISS candidates will spring
up somewhere soon, so if any of you hear about that, do let me know
about it as well. Last year, we were able to find almost half our
batch there before things started.
Once again thanks to all of you for all the kind words throughout the
admission process, and special thanks in advance for the treats that
some of you have promised :p, and I shall gladly accept now.
Best of luck to everyone for the future, at TISS or elsewhere, and if
you ever need to get in touch with me, feel free.
Paras Sharma

Hey Everyone,
As the days to your GD/PI come nearer and nearer I'm sure all of you will have a host of queries that you would like to clarify. Thus far, this forum has served us well enough, but we will soon come to the next step, which is the interview process.

I had an informal discussion with one of the faculty members today who is also going to be a panelist for the interview process and she mentioned that in the past there have been cases where people have discussed the interview process at length on websites (The professor mentioned Pagalguy specifically), and how this gives an unfair advantage to those who have their GD/PI on later dates.

Now while I am of the opinion that such information cannot be clamped down upon in this day and age, we have to also consider the concerns of the panelists. Since they have indirectly indicated that they aren't comfortable with the whole interview process being discussed in detail on a forum that's entirely open to public-view, I have created an invitation-only Google group for all of you where we may discuss our GD and interview experiences amongst ourselves, whilst respecting the privacy of the whole process.

To become a part of this group you need to first go to
http://groups.google.com/group/macounselingcandidates10_12

And send me a request to become a member of this group, which I will then approve. Membership is open to all of you provided you do this.

I expect that all of you will co-operate with this and refrain from posting any interview details (such as what questions were asked, what the GD topics were, who are the panelists etc) on the open forums here on Pagalguy.

YOU MAY DISCUSS THESE ISSUES AT LENGTH ON THE GOOGLE GROUP.

If you are not well versed with Google-groups and find it difficult to access the group, you may share your interview experiences with me via email/chat/phone, and I request you to do the same amongst yourselves as well.

Once again, the link is
http://groups.google.com/group/macounselingcandidates10_12

See you there,
Paras
