Apart from IIM’s the CAT scores will be accepted by other management institutes also. IIMs and other management institutes announce their admission criteria based on CAT score, group discussions, and personal interview.
The candidates will be shortlisted for the next round based on the percentiles scored. The scorecard is an important document which will be necessary during the interview and the admission process.
The percentile score is the rank of a candidate relative to the rank of candidates appearing in CAT 2018. The higher the percentile score, greater are the chances to get short-listed for the admission procedure. These percentile scores are determined normalization of scores.
In the normalization process, it is done by adjusting the location and scale differences of score distribution across various forms. The scaled scores obtained in this process are converted to percentiles. Based on percentile, the candidates are short-listed for Personal interview and group discussion rounds.
As the exam is conducted in two slots the authorities aim at ensuring equity in the marking scheme and for the same reason following the normalisation where the authorities scale the marks for the candidates.
