Jot down your pointers on the approach to this years CAT below........
i had given CAT 2010.
my aimcat %iles were mostly in the range of 89 to 95%ile
CAT 2010 was a real shock with overall 90.xx%ile
all hopes gone
now im left with a job at pune
will be joining in August and then will also prepare for the CAT/FMS/IIFT/XLRI.
wanna enter in the next 3 yrs into the ELITE
will be enrolling for the AIMCATS and also i guess for the CL mock tests!!

I know how it feels when a failure from the past haunts. I have felt it too but the undeniable truth is that "life has to move on".Though a cliche , but it is the universal truth to find salvation........And please think a little broader in life ....IIM is not the end of the world , i have seen people from SIBM in a better position than a person from IIM-I.
As from my favorite line from a movie - "Why do we fall , So we might learn to pick ourselves up"
Be optimistic, work hard and success will follow.

Buddy i dont know how to motivate you, but CAT is no longer a criteria of your skill now. Doc got 93 this time. Do you think he deserved 93, when in all other exams, he got 99+ in constant 2 years? There are a lot many such examples. CAT lacks credibility now. If you cant make it to the iims, there are still other ivy league institutes where you can get into. But aiming again for iim may be a mistake because now CAT score doesnt depend entirely on us. It also depends on how our slot is normalised and may be many other factors. And sadly, it is not in our control.

in CL mocks...98%iles in 2 other exams that i
appeared for...nd now comes the shock..60%ile
in CAT...
But u know what i was prepared 4 this...althiugh it
was my 1st CAT but yet i had an idea of this in CAT 09
nd believe me not 4 a single minute did i think that i had
messed up in exams...coz i had not..i had a pretty gud
paper in one of the toughest slots...
rite now just waiting for IIT results...will join if i get thru...
otherwise will try next year in other major exams nd will
not heavily depend on CAT as i did this year...
And believe me there are many more such cases in my
personal knowledge only...and also there r bound to be equal
no. of other ppl who got benefitted by this CAT lottery system
at the cost of our hard work...
Anyways,that is what is life all about
so,buck up all u unsung heroes..we all r wid u...
it is SHOWTIME...so toil hard nd show what u got..

The same thing happened with me (i got 87) and many other ppl. Even they have accepted that the new system gives 5% error i.e. upto 10000 aspirants out of 200000 may get faulty results, EVEN IF THE SLOTS ARE PERFECTLY 'NORMALISED'. If at all i would be preparing for next year, i would prepare for XAT and FMS. Not CAT. I dont want to discourage the 2011 aspirants, but i am just suggesting to be mentally prepared to explore the other options apart from the iims.
i would like to add by saying that instead of retrospecting on the past performances and blaming the normalization process, i feel its better we work hard towards getting ourselves prepared for CAT 11.
presently im doing my final year in CSE from VNIT. will be joining the job at Pune in august.
many of my frnds are into IIMA this yr.
that is one of the biggest source of inspiration for me.
i feel u too should have some sort of inspiration frm within you.
if u guys still are not inspired, i would recommend u all to go through "ALL I WANTED TO SAY ABOUT CAT" which is a compilation of such memorable journeys by the ones who made it to where we aspire to be.
as of now im planning to start my preparation in mid May.
