1)Plz give an idea as to what was the AIR last year for IITB?
2)The placements and faculty profiles
3)JMET preparation tips
Thanks

This is the first time I am going to appear for JMET. Just I wanted to know about the institutes other than IITB . And also how good is IITB ???
Is it at par with IIM's(excluding A ,B & C ofcourse)????

In addition to that in what field does it offers PGP ...I mean to say since it is exclusively for engineers ..... I believe that it does'nt offers PGP in HR or Finance??????

1. Last AIR called for GDPI was 418, and it generally remain around 400+- 20 , but cant speculate about this year.
2. Placements and faculty is very decent wit last year average package of 12.31 lakhs.
3. For JMET preparation tips , I would say download last 3 years JMEt papers, this exam dont throw many surprises so by solving last year paper you can gauge the difficulty level of paper. My personal view is as their are 4 sections and IITB specially have sectional cutoffs too , so first focus more on clearing sectional cutoffs. The paper level is easy as compared to CAT and XAT. It will be more of speed game. Specially the LRDI section of CAT is split into DI and LR i.e. 2 sections here , so focus on this part as these sections are generally more scoring in JMET.

Other than IITB other IITs are Delhi,Khraghpur,Madras,Kanpur and Roorkee. All these institutes are very decent one. I would refrain myself from any institute comparison as this is against PG forum rules. But yes IITB is a very decent college with avg pkg of 12.31 lakh last year and all benefits of small batch size and location.
IITB offers Master of Management degree and it is a general management degree, you can choose electives in your second year these include all ranging from Finance, HR, Consulting, Marketting, Operations and systems.
This is other big advantage of this college as you can choose a mix of subjects fom finance , marketting, opertions etc.. too.
Last year around 20 % of batch got finance profile in final placement and 26% in consulting.

Hi,
Plz give an idea as to what was the AIR last year for IITs other than IIT-B also.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

The last rank called generally varies as different IITs have different criteria for selection for GDPI and this criteria keeps on changing. The usual rank order is IITB>IITD>IITKhg=IITk=IITm>IITR
Hi,

I am not sure of the exact rank because last year every IIT have its own criteria for selection for GDPI. Like IITB considers your overall rank to give gdpi calls and generally last rank in general category remains around 400.
IIT Delhi generally considers just the overall rank and last rank remains around 550.( though cant conform the criteria as this is not disclosed by IITs)
IIT Roorkee last year considered only total marks and no sectional cutoffs as their criteria which was around 66-67 marks out of 120, i.e. an AIR of around 2200.
IIT Madras calls on JMET score were based on only sectional basis and no overall marks last year,(these sectinals were disclosed on their website too last year). So last rank for IIT Madras went even too around 3400 due too this criteria. Last to last year when overall score was considered than it remains around 1400.
IIT Khraghpur have criteria quite similar to IITB and last rank generally remains around 1200.
IIT Kanpur criteria is generally based on overall score only.

I tell you in all IITs the weightage ti JMET marks is such that even if you are the last rank to get a call for GdPI still you have a decent enough chance to get a final convert. As far as IIT B is concerned last to last year the last rank called for GDPI was 406 and that person converted his call in first list of final converts. Last year till 418 were called for GDPI , I am not sure of exact last rank convert but it was around 400 for sure.

What is the percentage of work exp to the freshers?
Thanks

What is the percentage of work exp to the freshers?
Thanks

there are around 20 % freshers this time in IITB. detailed figure is 29 % in 0-12 months, 13-24 months there are 22% , 24-36 there are 33% and rest 16% above 36 months. The no. of freshers have increased from last year, this vary depens on weightage to work ex which vary every year.

what is the fee-structure?

@mentor for all :)
My doubts:
1) As you have said that IITB considers the different factors for giving out calls such as sectionals for JMET , work ex etc. Is there any criteria weightage disclosed by IITB as IIMs do?
2) Based on JMET 2010, what was the last year cut offs sectional wise and overall?
3) Does score in JMET exam plays an important part in final convert or what is final weightage of JMET score on the chances of final convert?

Thanks for helping us all out here 😃

The fee structure is 8.8 lakhs(approx) for 2 years. This include all the costs including books , laptop (this year sony viao, last year HP), lodging, boarding etc.. I am attaching pdf of fee structure of this year.

IITB does not disclose its sectional criteria or any other weightage given to other criteria. The over all cutoff for GDPI for last year general candidate was around 72 (approx) out of 100, for OBC it was around 61 and for SC/ST it was around 45-48(not sure) out of 120 mark paper.
By the trend i have seen the score does play important part but its not very high as in case of NMIMS etc(around 80% there) , so there is a decent chance to convert even if you are the last rank called for GDPI.

I think the last rank called for GD PI in general category last year was 406. Please refer last year thread.

1) IITB gives GD PI calls purely based on JMET overall score and sectional cutoff(which are not very high). However, extracurricular activities, academics and workex plays an important role in final convert.
2) This is never disclosed. 406 was the last rank called for GD PI last year and that person converted it finally.
3) JMET score plays an important role. However, weightages for different factors are never disclosed.
