Hey Dude,
Just now got a doubt...Does SCIT consider sectional cut off's or overall marks will do justice? How much is usual cut off for SCIT?

Its normally overall cutoff they look for. cutoff for SCIT depends on the fact that for which specialization you are applying for..so it will be great if you can let me knw that what you wanna apply for..

SCIT Shortlisting for GD-PI of Admission 2008
SCIT worked out the final score for consideration of the shortlist on the following basis.
Final Score = SNAP Score + 10 marks for scoring more than 60% in each of 10th, 12th and aggregate of qualifying graduate exam + 5 marks for Engineering Graduates + 5 marks for Graduates with Computers Science/ Computer application/ IT + 5 marks for relevent full time Work experience above 18 months as on 1st September 2008, if any, + 5 marks for scoring more than 25% marks in each section of SNAP Test
The final score cutoffs for MBA 2009 GDPI session are as follows:

Open
IT Business Management
77.00
Systems
72.00
Software Solutions & Management
62.75
Networks & IT Infrastructure
60.50
Information Systems & Security
62.75

My query is
Whether the final score mentioned here consists of SNAP score + weightages given for relevant fields????

Hi all,
I am a newbie here......i am preparing for cat-2009,snap 2010, xat 2010. I will be interested to know few details.
I am an ece (B.Tech) and working in the bpo sector for the last 4 years.
x-79%
xii-46%
b.tech-75%
What are my chances of getting selected in scit(itbm) if i have a decent snap score and decent gd/pi.
Will they be biased because of my poor acads and me working in a bpo after my b.tech.
please help.

well i can say thqat in any bschool acads matter but they are only a part of overall weightage and u have decnt in x and btech imo they they wont matter as long as u trackle the question realted to them well

best of luck

Hi!
I will write SNAP this year. In fact, I did write it the last year too. And as per the demarcation given, would have cleared the cut off for ITBM easily, but didn't apply to SCIT. Moreover, the global meltdown made me apprehensive.
Anyway, this time, I want to fill up SCIT. I have pretty decent acads-->
X:90.4(CBSE); XII:88.4(CBSE); Grads(B.Tech.-CS):77.1
And good extra-currics too.
What I basically wanted to know was:
1) What has been the average (domestic, and international both) package offered to students this time?
2) Is there any scholarship available? Something on the lines of 'merit-cum-means' basis? If yes, what's the criteria? (In desperate need of a good scholarship)
Thanks. 😃

@MadreamMBA

the final score mentioned above is the total score i.e Snap score + the weightages given for the relevant field..

Hope that answers your query..

@ampunter,

The total score cutoffs mentions on the website, will only get you to the gd/pi level.. So if you are trying for ITBM , if you score around 70+ in snap, u have a fair chance..

Here are the weightages which get added to the snap score..
So u can add 10 marks (5+5) to ur snap score considering that u r an Engg graduate an also have more then 18 months of work-ex.
They are not biased coz of low acads or bpo work-ex..

Hope that clears ur doubt..

@Aditi
Regd ur first question about placements, i dont hv the right info on hand...will check into those figures and get back to u asap
Regd the 2nd on on scholarships.....yes, they are available and as per the below criteria

SCIT offers two scholarships every year to meritorious and deserving students. The scholarship is provided to these students in the second year of MBA and amounts to 50% of the tuition fees of that year. The selection criteria will be based on the following parameters:
- Student should have an above 3.00 CGPA in all the previous semesters
- Student should not have any backlogs and should not have been involved in any disciplinary issue during the academic tenure into consideration
- Student should have been an active participant in the activities of the Institute. The selection panel will consist of members of the Management and an alumni representative.

let me knw if theres anything else

@ayan

The batch of 2009-11 has a good mix of experienced & freshers....i dont hv the exact figures but its approx 50-50 i.e. 50 % work ex n 50% freshers.
in case of work-exp......a good number of students have around 2-3 years of work-ex

so competition is tough out here

let us know if theres ny other doubts

Cheers!!

Hi Rahul,

At the outset, let me thank you for your wonderful posts. I have read your posts in other threads & they were very enlightening.I am a comp engg. & have worked as a java programmer for 2.6 years and presently I am working as a Sr. Business Analyst/BD Exe. for 6 months. I am interested in enhancing my BA profile. Which course do you suggest for this : ITBM or Systems. Could you also please enlighten about the profile of the students once they leave SCIT

Thanks,
David

Hi David. Thanks for your word appreciation. Well you told that you working as BA/BD Exe...I would like to know more that whether you working more towards BD side or inclined more on BA side..once I am clear on that..then only I would be in a better situation to comment on your query. Once a student leaves SCIT..it depends that from what spec you did your Masters..e.g students leaving from Systems normally aim for roles like BA, Business Process analyst, BPM, Systems analyst, techno consultant etc. These roles are like niche ones for systems..so it "DEPENDS"...so would like you to refine your query a bit..

thanks

Hi Rahul,
Thanks for replying to my post. Well, after working as a java programmer for 2.6 years, I had worked for 6 months as a Business Development specialist in an IT firm where I was also involved in system analysis, but predominantly I was into selling their IT products. However, I was more inclined to work as a business analyst/system analyst so I joined a new company where my profile is more of a BA than a BD(more than 80% BA work). I am more interested in enhancing my profile as a BA. Can you please guide me as to which of ITBM or Systems would be better in enhancing my profile as a BA. Also please let me know the kind of profiles ITBM as well as System grads get into?

My query is in similar lines as that of David. I have 3 years of development exp in Java , but of late had been working as a Data Analyst. I am looking forward to leverage this profile and launch a career as Business Analyst.

Any of you at SCIT, could you please map the profiles of the students with the the 4 departments you have at SCIT ? This is just to gain an insight and zero in on a particular department to align to the objectives I have in my mind with regard to doing an MBA from SCIT.

Thanks in advance !

Hey guys.. I'm an alumni of SCIT.. passed out in 2006... drop me an questions you have and will do my best to answer them... ciao...
