Hello Mr. Piyush.

This is Shrishail K from Mumbai. Can call me Shail too.

Yes, me too interested in SCIT (Systems). Will be givin' SNAP this year. Can u tell me what is cutt-off that's required for SCIT? Is this overall ? Or We have exhibit our competencies in every section ? In short howz the % calculated.

Wud u just ink me up the priorities of various courses to apply for. Like Wise...I am tech guy havin' 1.7+ exp in s/w domain. I slightly inclined over Management but in Tech side. I dont want hard core programmin' stuff now. I wanna try somethin' innovative. After goin thru' the courses offered by SCIT, I found SYS is better for me. I have jotted D, A and E (These are the order of courses i took from the respective site i.e SCIT Residential Program.)

And hey, Is it mandatory that we have to pay the fees includin' Hostel Accomodation ? What I dont want an accomodation ?

Placements no doubt are 100 %.

Thanks in Advance.

Shail 😃

Hi Shail,

nice to see ur interest in SCIT. Well about the cutoff ot the snap score, target around 80, thats is my personal advice. The fact is, the selection is not only on the basis of ur SNAP score alone. SCIT also considers ur 10th, 12th and graduation performance. Also, experiece and extra activities are considered. Whel, as u have work-ex u have a good chance. And yes, u have to show ur performance in each section of the SNAP exam. It is for ur safety purpose, as SCIT may take it under considerationa nd may not also.

Well, as u r saying that u want to go in a course which is more managerial with some technical, then Syatems, ISS and ITBM are good. System is more towards Quality area, ISS towards security and ITBM is towards managerial aspects with IT.

And yes it is mandatory to pay the fee including hostel's. Even pune localides have to live in the hostel as it is a residential program and for lectures they can call u anytime.

I hope i answered all ur queries. For any further queries, write back to me.

In case of ITBM and that too with experience, tha packages are always awesome and comaparable with top 10 B-schools. I can tell u this much.

Hope that will help to answer ur query.

Please go thru it to clear ya misgivings.

Thanks

Shail

hi !!!!
i have a few queries .
1 when do we specify our course preference ?
2 Do we have to take seperate prosps for all the courses or will one suffice ?
3 Is the merit list that is put up, course wise or is it general and then at the time of
interview the people should choose their preference ?
4 if i keep my preference list as ITBM, Systems, SDM what would be the ideal score ?
when can i choose the course? after the interview or before that ?
will the gd/pi marks be a factor in the final merit list ?
how are the hostel facilities, food, recreation etc ?

Hey krishna,

you really shooted lots of questions.

Well, when i filled the form last time, it was like one form for one specialisation. So, there is no choice or priority selction on the form. I hope, same will be this year also.

I think u would be clear that course choice is on the form and so not after or at the time of interview. Talking about ITBM, Systems, SDM i would say dont go for segments better target for safe score like arround 90. Well i m in ITBM and i had scored 86.5 last year. Cut-off was around 65, but many have backs with their work-ex. So u can judge urself. But with that also competition is increasing drastically so that is also going to matter a lot.

Yes, the merit list u were asking about is course wise. And about the food, hostel, etc let me tell u, if u r in SCIT then u will be here at Pune Infotech Park with full greenary and no pollution. Facilities are so much that u would not be able to decide whch one u should use. I can assure u that according to ur fee u will be getting more than anywhere u gonna get. You can just go through http://www.scit.edu and check the facilieties, they are not fake. They are the best. Even all the IT comapny's employees are members of gym, swimming, etc.

Hope i had answered all ur queries. Hey shoot more queries, if u have more. Dont be shy.

take care.

Hi anurag,

first of all thanks for the support.
And yes you are right ITBM course is offered in the June session. Only Software Development and Management (SDM) is offered in both January as well as June session.

Now cutoff marks criteria is controlled by the college itself. What i think according to my last year's observations that it is not only your cutoff marks on the basis of which they prepare ur merit list for GD/PI. Your 10th marks, 12th marks, graduation marks, SNAP score, work-ex and ur extra-activities, all are considered. So u can better judge about the situation i think. And yes i thing more perform well in each and every section of SNAP paper. That can be a crucial matter also.

Hope ur queries are answered. Feel free to ask more.

@Piyush Sir,
Hi, this is Aryan from Mumbai. I have completed my grad in Statistics and am currently helping my Dad in his business (its nothing to boast abt!!!)

I am as desperate to get into SCIT as ppl are desperate to get into IIM-A!!
Will, my not having any exp in Tech Sector and having a non-tech subject for graduation hamper my prospects of getting into SCIT? I was hoping to apply for Jan Session (Soft Dev and Mngmnt) so as not to waste a year, but when I saw the profiles of students selected for Jan session (most of them Enggrs with 1-2 yrs XP!!), man....it scared the hell out of me!!....Its like I have gone visionless!!!

Help Reqd Sir!!!...:(

Hi Guyz...
Admission forms can be downloaded from SCIT Creating Strong IT Minds.
One thing is noticable is that they have revised the Jan n June sessions. In the form..they have included ISS in the Jan session n rest all in the June session.
And morever we have to select only one course. That means for two courses we have to fill two forms we can conclude that way.
Can we apply for more than one course ?
They have also revised the fee structures seems to me.
Nyways lets c what in store for us.
Thanks
Shail 😃 .

Hi Aryan,

Sorry for the late reply. But my exams are going on so u can understand. Diractly coming to the point, ur not having technical background or experience is not going to hamper u anywhere. If u will prove urself in the whole process then u r in. So dont think about all that, just work on it.

Hi Guyz...

After havin a look @ the Application Form of SCIT...I have some qualms regarding the same.

1) I dont have EA's. I had in my school, Junior College Dayz. But I dont have ny proof regarding the same. So shud I mention them ? They ask for certis ?

2) I have 70% in SSC and 73 % in HSC and I completed by engineering with some of the backlock's...Like u can say that I completed my BE in 2004 rather than 2003. My father went thru' a ByPass during last 6 months of my Engineering. I had to look upto him. He took 6 months to recuperate completely.

3) I have a work ex of 1.7+. Will that compensate above all.

Please can nybody confirm whethe we can apply for two courses in the same form or not ?

Help Needed.

Thanks

Shail
