the FMS exam usually has 175 odd questions - roughly, 50 in quant, 75 odd in english and 50 odd in DI & logical reasoning. so effectively, yyou are looking at a paper which is verbal heavy. plus, the USP of the exam lies in your ability to score very high (there are only 60 seats open on an all-india basis).
qualitatively,the verbal section takes the maximum amount of time. specially, the reading comprehension part has huge RC's, sometimes running into more than 2 pages. the level of RCs varies. for example, when i gave the exam for the first time, there were some kick-ass RCs i couldnt make head or tail of. while as, in the succesive year (i.e this one) the Rcs were relatively simpler. so make sure that english is one very strong area of yours.
quant has usually been easy here. the focus is to try n solve all the questions. for the DI and LR part, well, there isnt any rule to go by. just hope that you can crack those questions on that day at that time.
what i personally feel is that an effective score of 360 + should get a call. (+4 for every correct, -1 for incorrect). other PGites n my batchmates can pitch in with their personal experiences.

Just to add what good ole Q said, the FMS exam has no sections and hence no sectional cut offs. So this is one exam where you can focus on your strengths and not worry about those weak areas. 😃

Where do i get the forms of FMS from? and do i need to come to Delhi only for the exam and interview or can i give it from anywhere from India?

the written exam can be given from centres other than delhi, info about which will be provided to u ....for the group discussions and interview u have to come to delhi....
and its nt that bad after all, u need to have a feel of the campus where u intend to go...
and yes we had taken the forms from SBI branches

Also is there any academic criteria for totalling before any calls are given out cause i think i beat 400 last yr?(I know it s a shady question but...)But then again It could have been an easier paper for all to score at.I'm in (yeah exactly)mid of the 2nd DIV. hey d00d, exam is not going to be held on 1st jan. it wasnt held on 1st jan anytime during the past 4-5 years
beating 400, eh! students or marks. plz clarify.

marks dude!But then again I just knew Had attempted about115 odd and had high accuracy for other exams so arrived at that figure.Was like the man on the moon after the fms et!anyways 1 can't be sure about lr section.

Yeah this is something I wanna confirm too.. Is it only the final score that counts and Area-wise scores r not considered at all?
Also plz tell us about the chances of freshers vs ppl with work-ex..what is the percentage of students in the present batches with/without work-ex?

How can a Nepali Student get into FMS.
I called at FMS, and the call attendant was so inconsiderate.
I was inquiring few things, he hung up in no time.
info i could get from the call was that
the admission ad was going to be out on 2 OCTOBER
and I had to consult HRD Ministry here in Nepal
do any one know anything, how can a Nepali can get
into FMS.

Can somebody tell me whether our acads would be a deciding factor during the selection process..I have got a friend who said that FMS needs a very good academic record to give you a call even if you have got a very good score in the written. Is it true. Or do they give a call even if you have something sort of a 6.0/10.0 during your graduation.
Wow! So many queries on the platter, i've suddenly found back my appetite for long posts
So lets start, in chronological order -
basic queries:
FMS forms availbility date: Expect them in first week of Oct. They are NOT yet out
About decent attempt: As per my estimate, u need to score smthiin btw 115-135 ques with accuracy > 80%. As said earlier, each ques carries 4 marks, so accordingly u'll need to score smthin between 460-540. Each wrong ans robs u of 1 pt.
And i see no point that why an MBA student can leave quant of even DI/RC for that matter. U need to show ur competence in each section, though there is no sectional cutoff per se. In any case, if u work easy now and get in any reputed B school, u will need to work correspondingly harder later on. So pls dnt ignore ny section. Quant is quite easier, so try to cover it. Catch FMS mock papers from various coaching instt to know about the paper. Remember FMS paper is different form CAT !
Freshers v/s workex : theres a 50-50 mix of them in 1st and 2nd yr. Although this is not some fixed formula, but has been consistent.
Acads do matter but so does ur FMS scorecard, infact i'd say latter matters more. I got a lowly acads but am still lucky to ans ur queries this yr. So chill up and prepare for exam. Some interviewer may ask about low acads of urs, u need to justify it then, so u need to prepare for that (remember u'll b in interview once u score nice in exam, so u got brains, now u need to justify why ur brain dint get u marks in earlier grads. many ppl attribute it to xtra curriculars)
Abt Nepali students, they can apply under foreigners' quota. I'll get the specifics for u soon, will get a person of our batch form Nepal only to address ur query.
