We're currently working on the placement stats of Batch 2011 and the Batch profile of Batches 2011 and 2012. Updates will be posted here soon.
As for the fresher-work-exp ratio, it was almost 1:1 for the Batch of 2010 and a similar trend has been observed for subsequent batches. This ratio is deliberately maintained as it allows for an even blend of freshers and people with work-exp.

Thanks Tiekirs for the info.
Could you please also highlight the last year SNAP cut-off's for MBA (CM). ?

The cutoff for MBA-Ad was 72 and for MBA-PR was 66. Also while last year no specific weightage was given to the verbal section, SIMC traditionally is known to favour that section. A rule of thumb can be 1/2QA+GK+LR+2*VA.
However the cutoffs are expected to rise as they did last year and the sectional weightages may also be altered. Watch this thread for updates.

Hostel Fees Rs. 60,000
Mess Fees Rs. 35,000
Security Deposit (Institute) Rs. 25,000
Hostel Deposit Rs. 10,000
Total fees (per year): 4,40,000

As for placement information, we are still in the process of collating the data for placements. Updates will be posted soon to this thread.

The intake this year for SIMC Pune has been reduced for both MBA and MMC

Master of Business Administration (MBA): 80 seats
Master of Mass Communication (MMC): 40 seats
Reservations as per University norms

This means that there are 80 seats for MBA-Advertising, MBA-Public Relations and MBA-Media Management and 40 seats for MMC Audio-Visual Production and MMC Journalism. Students will be able to select specialisations at the end of the first year.

Last year about 220-230 students each for MBA-Ad and MBA-PR were called for the GD-PI process. But keep in mind that the intake last year was 60 each for both the specialisations.

A portfolio wasn't required last year but all applicants shortlisted for the GD-PI were required fill in an SOP form (provided by the institute) and bring their academic and co-curricular credentials for the process. The requirements may change this year depending on the admissions committee. Any new information about the process will be made available here as soon as possible.

Last year, the process was quite straightforward. A generic GD with 12 participants with each person getting 30 seconds to introduce the topic before the floor was open for general discussion. PI was person-specific and nothing unexpected.

However, I would advise you not to read too much into this as the process is expected to change significantly this year.

The registration process last year started sometime near the end of October. It will be around the same time this year. Updates will be given here

Spoke to the director about your query. SIMC Pune and SIMC Bangalore will have separate admission procedures i.e separate forms, GE/PI, merit lists. The courses offered in the two colleges will also be different.

Hi

I want to pursue Communication management so wanted to know some basic details abt SIMC.

I have work ex of 36 months in IT so wanted to ask that honestly is SIMC a b-school i should apply to (w.r.t ROI after 2 yrs )

I am very much into this field of management so not applying for any other general management but little apprehensive about SIMC

Kindly if anybody can answer my query i can be free of my inhibitions regarding SIMC... (As there are hardly any b-schools having communication management so options are minimal)

Thanks
Prags

NEW INFORMATION
SIMC Pune introduces a new specialisation for MBA in Communication management - Media Management.

Media Management (Media industry management, media
audience planning and research, advertising sales and
distribution) is being launched for the very first time at SIMC Pune from the Academic Year 2011-13.

Also all SIMC Pune applicants do not have to specify their specialisation at the beginning of the course.
MBA and MMC students will get to choose their specialisations at the end of their first year. This means that the 80 MBA students will have a common (MBA) syllabus for the first year after which they can choose between the specialisations of Advertising, PR or Media Management. The same applies to the 40 MMC students who will have a common (MMC) syllabus for the first year after which they can choose between the specialisations of Audio-visual production or Journalism.
The SIMC Pune website is currently being revamped and the new information along with the SIMC Pune admission application will be made available there very soon.
