Hi people

With GD/PI starting today, a lot of you would want to know how the process was conducted this year. Hence it would be nice if people who have finished their process post their experiences here. I know that there is a results tread that exists, but i would request all of you to post your experiences ONLY here for the benefit of others. This would make life easier for all newcomers in the forum and also to students next year. (Anyone new can easily locate this tread and also students next year may access this tread without spending too much time on the search function)

It would be nice if people post all their other queries also ONLY on the this tread till the final results come out. Let this be a common centre for all queries and discussions regarding GIM till the final results come out.

hi guys
just now back from the GIM gdpi at YMCA DELHI>

quite a nice experience.

not only GIM ROCKS but the GIM FACULTY ALSO ROCKS

both the professors were very cool and chilled.
they put you at ease and the interviews were more like a conversation .

20 students were called; 12 turned up including coolcucumber.

GD topic- ATOM.

30 secs for opening statements by each.
10 mins gd.
30 secs for summarising.

gd was good ; everybody contributed and was not a fish market.

then the hr interview & finally the technical one.

HR INTERVIEW
1. how have you come.
2.from which part of delhi.
3.tell abt yourself.
4.what is this economic times thing you mentioned in your cv.
5.you have won 1st prize in poster making. what was the poster like.
6.have you read the book THE ATLUS SHRUGGS.
7.u love cooking .why dont you become a cook instead.
8.tell me something abt the insurgency problem in assam.
9.you are from which place in assam.
10.you have been to shillong. which is better -your place or shillong. why.
11. u do photography. do u have a camera.
12.how to solve the insurgency problem in assm.
13.which is ur fav place. why
14. any questions.

Technical Interview.
1. what is ur name.
2. what does it mean.
3.what is plastic technology.
4.tell me in more details.
5.tell me about ur project@dupont- plastics in packaging.
6.why everywher it is -Ban plastic bags. what are ur views(appreciated my answer).

It's nice of you amigo that you posted your gd/pi details in a very clear-cut way. one thing i would like to know is how long did your gd and pi lasted individually. and how long did the whole process took.

was in the morning batch for gd /pi

gd topic was : ATOM

thk i had some gud points but i summarsied really well and concluded too in written in a gud way

so a nice gd

both of ma interviews were HR based and no tech ques asked. im a comp science fresher


ist interview

q1 abt ma college

q2 abt whether malls shd be there or not

q3 my long term goals

q4 y shd gim take me( i thk he was really impressed by this answer, gave a lot of gyaan and abt gim everythg thta ive learnt here)

i took lots of names of seniors here and he was happy

q5 asked my cat %tile and my preference

q6 asked abt setbacks and wat is my USP

q7 asked bout my french language course and y i learnt only french




was really gud intw as he was very happy and chked all my certificates thoroughly and asked evrythg bout me.



2nd intw

was a short affair

q1 temme abt ur self

q2 asked bout magazines i read and y only those magazines

q3 y do u need we need to learn HR and MKTG in b schools. rnt they inherent

q4 asked me after 20 yrs how do u see s/w industry

q5 asked bout pagalguy and specifically abt GIM thread

he was really happy with the answers


i reallly thk ive performed very well in both PI's and hoping for conversion.

yes 1 main thg, they r chking how logical u r in wtever u say and this is 1 thg they really liked in me that all my answers were structured well and were logical and to the point

since everyone is asked to speak initially for 30secs and conclude also, i wanted to know whether there were points being repeated by ppl in the groups coz the last person might not have anything new to add. is it ok if points are repeated coz they may also be in your mind but someone else spoke it before you? will it go against the person if he does that (of course he cant go on doing it but this is regarding the opening statement and the conclusion...)

wll i wanted to know wht kind of pts were raised on ur gd topic of ATOM.Are u expected to know the intricated details related to such topics too.

May someone tell us wat kinda techie interview was there in case of work-ex ppl. Did they ask more of their job related questions or was it a tour-de-yesteryears !

learn to relax ... acha hain ... i had called up cucumber b4 he was to go 4 the interview , whenever i have wished him , the dude gets thru ...
I called him up after the interview , he was asleep , and yaar he will allay ur fears and clarify ur doubts and mine too :)

Mine is on 10th yaar at St. Xavier's College (My College so hope proves to be lucky for me). haan yaar GIM nahin to BIM mein to ghusna hi hai.........

One more thing which i would like to ask you is you said there were twelve of you, so were you people divided into two groups or one single group because traditionally they divide..

Just came back from imi interview... it was all academics. Absolutely nothing else! :(
How much are they stressing acads in gim. Will general answers with a few examples do?

arre bhai log i was asleep

itna gussa ho gaye log yahan

see the intws were no fixed pattern. my first intw was for 20 min while my frd had it for 30 min or so

similarly amigo had 2nd intw for 15 odd min while mine was for just 6-7 odd min.

they din ask any tech ques to engg here coz they were not of engg bacjkgrd. baki jagah pe they mite ask u tech stuff

work ex people were generally asked bout there kinda work, cmpny they work in and there experiences thass it.

also how mba from gim wud help them

PEOPLE WHETHER U R FRESHER OR WORK EX GET 1 THG STRAIGHT. THEY SPECIFICALLY WANA KNOW Y U WANA DO MBA FROM GIM. my both intws were gud bcoz i was able to justify it to them how GIm was a perfect fit for me which it really is coa i really respect this insti and if they gimme call ILL SURELY GO TO GIM. ALSO BE TO THE POINT AND BE SPECIFIC AND REMAIN FOCUSSED.


THEYLL CHK HOW LOGICAL R U

AGAIN ILL SAY THEY DIN ASK MUCH TECH COZ THEY WERNT FRM TECH BACKGRD. BUT SOM PEOPLE FROM ECO BCKGRD WERE ASKED ACADS.


ALSO THE GD WAS IN A GRP OF 12, THEY DIN DIVIDE THE GRP COZ THEY THOUGHT 6 WUD BE TOO TOO LESS. BUT DUE TO ABSTRACT NATURE OF TOPIC, THERE WAS NO FISH MARKET. EVERYONE SPOKE WELL.

in my grp i had 2-3 with work ex, some engg, some arts bckgrs and some comm bckgrd. for some GIM was there only call while others had some other calls as well.
