utsav bhai i think calls wud be given to ppl having maybe 99+ %ile (General).....as FMS said they think quality of students will be affected if they take students through CAT....so i feel they will go for profile + high CAT score.....

Considering a call on a score of 98-99 is justified considering that the people getting into FMS are the ones who just miss out on IIMs but would there be profile based calls. Because till now the thing was that one was expected to clear the cutoff alone to get a call.

Whatever may be the case, the dependency on CAT is increasing with each passing day. First JMET scrapped and now FMS.

I did not find any news in TOI or on their website........

but then if it is scrapped then it will be a big blow to all the aspirants....... especially with cat having all this normalization process and all........ many aspirants must be banking on exams like fms, xat, snap because of the fairness of these exams because there is lot of uncertainty associated with cat....

Now, only God can help us all...... if we don't score high in cat, then it might be the end of the road for many of us........

Utsav bhai i am saying profile coz of the fact that FMS exam was much tougher than CAT...but as they are going for CAT (which is easier than FMS) now so they might give weightage now to profile (Acads, work ex, CCA etc) also so as they have the type of students they want...

PS - above are my personal views....

Shocker for many....

A lot of p N c Involved now....For Guys like me who have pathetic acads this is One Bad News...
I am 100% sure that acads will be taken into consideration...Prime reason is coz in the article its clearly mentioned that The faculty is worried about the quality of students and the only way they see out of this will be to switch more towards profile based calls like MFC DU did last yr. and almost every other IIM'S even IIM-C are doing the same.

Also it brings huge amount of pressure on aspirants to perform exceedingly well in CAT,one bad day and almost every good college is out of the radar.(Jmet also scrapped)

also, the thing to watch out for is FMS was a vocab based test as the cut off's were extremely high and those who top the exams were having strong hold on Vocab and speed.it is out of context now as accuracy will be the key.So i dont think Mugging up foreign words and Vocab is going to help a great deal now.

All in all i think there is every possibility of FMS giving Profile based calls this year.
:(

TOI Page 2 Column 5. Shocker
D-Day is now ACTUALLY a D-Day. You make it, you are in; You break it, you are done. But this is a treat to those 99%ilers who cannot get into an IIM because of their academics. Whatever it is, get accustomed to the flow ASAP. 😃

first JMET and then FMS .............could not have got worse than this .

Well what this could also mean is that Other colleges like MDI, NITIE or XIMB might lower their cutoff or increase the number of interview applicants ...The plot thickens my dear Watson 😃

Puys i feel english might have higher cut off as FMS stresses on English part....but still cannot say anything sure...will just have to wait & watch.........

PS - As the saying goes, "Jab kisi ki maarna chaho to puri kaaynat uski maarne me tumhare saath jut jaati hai." lagta hai saare colleges is baar exams scrap kar karke bacchho ki watt laga denge....

One thing's for sure that C-day will now be the one and only D-day, make or break for all of us.
No FMS this year! This is a massive news, still unsure whether it's good or bad. For starters, the learn-20-words-a-day routine will now have to be scrutinised, if not discontinued, as CAT doesn't focus as much on Vocab as FMS used to.
With FMS, MICA, IITs et al accepting the CAT score this year, it'd be difficult to predict what score would land you in which college. Given the track record, I reckon FMS should/would have slightly higher cut-offs for Verbal; but given the new format has LR along with it, we never know what would happen.
The only positive thing is that now our energies have been channelised (if there's a term like that) towards one specific pattern. Practising has never been as important as it would be this time around!
All the best to all puys!

we r so deeeaaaaaaaaaaadwhy does this happen to us?? first the jmet now fms!!!!!!!! How can we all depend on just 1 xam??? dat is cat which is the most untrustworthy xam of all!!!!

I feel the OA cut-off will soar to 99.5+ as they give calls to only 1200 odd students and I don't think any good candidate would like to miss out on the kind of ROI FMS gives with such a low fees and opportunities which are comparable to IIM's .

well this would be a good news for everyone if CAT followed a paper and pencil pattern.. now with so many not satisfied with the normalization process, this is a huge blow..:splat:

but this might be a blessing in disguise so that all can prepare for a single exam.. and also the cutoffs might be lower for the institutes which were accepting CAT scores all through like NITIE,MDI,..

manik bhai i don't think that NITIE, MDI will lower their cut offs coz it might affect the quality of students they are looking for...also FMS is a new entrant wrt to CAT so why will MDI & NITIE lower their cut offs.....

PS - Jo CAT se darr gaya, samjho is saal to bechara pakka MAR gaya.......

Wow!! Just when i thought i'd start mugging words for vocab. Pressure on C-day has tripled now ( with no FMS, JMET).

I'm sure FMS will be the hot cake this year among the toppers and chances of getting into A,B,C has considerably increased for the 98-99 percentilers.

i can understand the quality of students might get affected.. but most of the students who have got 99+ percentiles and without any calls to top IIMs will now prefer FMS rather than NITIE because of quality as well as fee structure of FMS (which I think is awesome).

even if the other institutions doesn't lower their cutoffs, the average percentiles of the people entering these schools would be low when compared to the previous years..

What i can make out is.Cut off for MDI and NITIE must go down .
Since people missing out on IIM call will definitely opt for FMS as their next option and hence MDI, NITIE drop down the aspirants preference list.

I guess,it could be a blessing in disguise for us
