ALOHA!

Would like to welcome you all onboard a simplified, yet fun-filled and informative Admission Process at SIOM for the academic years 2013-2015

(On the onset, some abbreviations...SIOM stands for and always will be "Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management"!!! )

Last year's Admission Process was a tremendous and resounding success, backed by the heartening feedback received from the attendees who had come down to Nashik from all over the country to take a bite of the unique 'GE-PI Experience' here.

'Management' is seldom taught. It is something that enriches you on 'implementation'. And one could see that from the way the student-driven Admission Committee executed it - with flamboyance and perfection!

This year we intend to take it a notch higher!!!

SIOM welcomes all the aspirants to be a part of this exciting and unique process which will ensure a long-lasting experience with something to feel good about!

[email protected] is calling...WHERE ARE YOU??!!

Keep a watch on this thread...more info to flow in...

bro before solving ur queries its important for us to know watz on ur wishlist! There are many colleges under SIU (Symbiosis International University)... selection is done on the basis of (SNAP score + Preferred Institute + GD-PI performance). This thread is exclusively dedicated to Admissions 2013-15 for Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management, Nashik.

1. Its hard to define a clear cut SNAP score which would ensure your admission to any college under SIU. Many people with good scores miss out on their dream institute (or subsequently make it to the waitlist), which can be invariably put down to a "not-so-good" GD-PI performance. At the same time, one can sail through with an eligible/decent score after performing exceedingly well during the GD-PIs. EVERYTHING MATTERS!

2. Again, the question you are asking is probably stemming from a lack of belief in yourself bro. That shouldn't be the case!! Remember, you need only 'one' seat to make the final cut, why worry about whats the ratio of selection?! Believe me, if you have what it takes... then come what may, even a ratio of 1:20 won't stop you from getting selected! The first step is SNAP, and then you can put all your energy in chalking out strategies to come up trumps on the GD-PI day.

3. This is a tricky situation, but can be handled. You just have to come up with substantial reasons as to why you chose to chase IIT for 3 years, and if you have the convincing ability and can make the panel see through your reasons... then definitely you are on! But yes, you should be ready to provide a gap-certificate (that comes up much later though) if and when asked for.

sir what was the snap last year cutt off for the siom

@chandu9983 said:sir what was the snap last year cutt off for the siom

Hi Chandu, SNAP cutoffs change every year depending on many factors such as paper's toughness, no. of aspirants, etc. So there isnt exactly any point in knowing previous years' cutoffs :O

Just to answer ur question, this year the cut-off for SIOM hovered around the 60-mark.
Dont worry abt cutoffs...they are unpredictable and do not matter until the last(results! )...so focus on giving ur best shot at SNAP...the rest will take care of itself!

@[599601:SrikanthP.SIOM] last year i just registered for snap n scored 83...i just thought that only sibm n scmhrd are the best and rest are not upto the mark..and after a lot of reasearch i decided just to pay for siom apart from snap test as i am an enggineer..last year whatever exam i gave i was just checking out my potential..i scored 77 in xat 72 in cat 95 in mat missed iift by a whisker...let see this year..

Good luck this time around, mate! :)
Whatever u do, always make an informed decision...never go by hear-say

You did well last time @[569961:chandu9983]. Concentrate your best efforts towards the exams this year. I am sure you will be fruitful. Regarding the worries about which B School you should qualify for, keep that aside for sometime. Regarding SNAP, do well and you will surely deserve the best 😃 As SIOM is on your target list I can say that you should not worry much as being an engineer you are already on the target list as SIOM takes only engineers. MBA in Operations needs an analytic mind and engineers are already blessed with those. Also the course curriculum is designed particularly for Engineers. SIOM has already won the best curriculum award, in the Devang Mehta B School Awards, as it provides excellent industry exposure and a plethora of operations excellence knowledge. If you can identify your career goals doing best in what you want to do most as an engineer I would say you will have the right platform at SIOM. All the best for your exams. Keep burning the midnight oil and you will get what you deserve.

Hi Guys... Welcome to the official Thread of SIOM 13- 15 Admission Queries... Thanks to admission warriors... Wonderful start to add the value to your Institution... bow down to your continous efforts dears... Keep going... Sky is the limit.. SIOM will rock ..

I am not going to comment on your wishlist as comparison of colleges is strictly against pagalguy rules and one may be even banned because of that. However since you have made a wishlist on your own I would like you to introspect what is it, that you want from your MBA. If you have identified your needs for an MBA education I would like you to go and do some research on your own about the institutions of your choice. Each of those institutions would have their own pros and cons. Decide which pros suits you the most and gives the best career boost and which cons you can overlook.

As far as SIOM is concerned, I can tell you it is a center of excellence for Operations Management. Now I hope you do know about Operations Management. SIOM is counted among the top colleges of India offering Operations Management as a specialty. We have amazing faculties with lots of experience in the field. The culture of the college is totally student driven. Moreover we offer Six Sigma Green Belt and SAP certification courses. You can also earn Internationally reputed certifications in Supply Chain/Logistics/Analytics/Project Management such as CPIM, CSCP, Jigsaw Business Analytics Certifications, CAPMI by PMI,USA and others with the guidance of our eminent academic staff. The peer learning here is one of the most important factors driving SIOM towards excellence. We have a diversified pool of students here with rich work experience, domestic as well as international. Moreover, we are proud to announce that SIOM is the part of India Shipment Efficiency Analysis (SEA) €“ UN Sponsored project, through CII. Our class representatives of 2013 have secured top three positions in that Project training program by Malaysian training agency at Chennai. Also have a look at our various student managed co curricular efforts that have brought laurels to the institution at our website. These are only some of the factors that have helped give our placement scene the lift that it is enjoying today. We have major recruiters recruiting from our college. Please go through our placement reports here http://www.siom.in/why-recruit.aspx

Now as far as preparing for SNAP is concerned it is totally your own shot. Preparation levels must be high as SNAP can give you quite a few bouncers in the exam like what happened last year. But that does not mean it is very tough to crack. With the right amount of preparation and the right attitude you can easily crack SNAP. But then again, it depends on how dedicated you are for SNAP. For LR, I think TIME materials are the best with regards to Logical Reasoning and DS. I believe dedication is the key to success. If you really want to see yourself in any of those top institutes you are just one step away from success. And dedication is that step. So I urge you to consider what I have said above and also introspect your areas where you can be a top notch specialist. If SIOM is your destination, I welcome you with open arms. All you need to do now is crack the SNAP and come for the GDPI

For your last question, we assure you we will look into the best payment options available and benefitable for aspirants. As our Admissions Registration process will start from 20th August only we ask you to be a bit patient.

Don't worry brother. You will be alright and you will definitely crack SNAP. ALL THE BEST !!!

P.S. I am attaching a document for your reference that lists the possible profiles that an Operations Management or Supply Chain Management student can earn. It is not necessary that these profiles are the only ones. You have a diverse industry to chose from.
