The other big whammy of the season - the XAT lies barely three weeks away.

On the lines of PaGaLGuY's Official CAT Helpline run by IIM Kozhikode, this thread will be the Official XAT helpline run by 99 percentilers of XAT from the XLRI School of Business and Human Resources, Jamshedpur.

Need urgent last minute advice? These students will answer your questions and suggest how to remove roadblocks in your preparation.

Please be specific in your queries, and back them up with what you have been doing. For example, merely asking 'What should be the strategy for XAT?' is not very useful, as strategies will depend a lot on your state of preparedness, your strong and weak areas, etc. Ideally, include the following when you ask something :

- Your strong and weak areas/sections
- Mock XAT scores, if any
- Whether there has been a dip in mock XAT performance compared to CAT performance
- Your current paper strategy

from whr shld i practice quant...im having TIME material...wuld that be enough..or shld i refer sme other material...im weak in quants...and hw many ques one shld attempt...i kno it depends on diff level...but still..and last ques. on which topics shld i give more stress in quants...this gonna be m first attempt..

sir i have started my preparation for xat and i cud see me fare avg in mock tests... unlike CAT the exam is pretty tuff with differential marking..can u please suggest me hw many cud be a decent attempt in each of the sections(especially with respect to verbal section) and what % of the questions leave u above the cutoff...nd im weak in english nd xat english is being a ni8mare for me...pls suggest some solution.

Three weeks away.. 😞 my question might ne general.. but giving d Xat for d first time.

CAt was disappointing so banking on Xat.
I was just goin thru few papers of last time. The topics r more specific. LIke I saw more of geometry , tsd, functions n PnC. CAn u just brief us about the important topics. ALso the cut offs of last year. wht was d ideal attempt in 2010 paper? I knw it mite not b a same this yr. But just wanted to knw.

I am pretty good with verbal and logical reasoning .. and my fiery part is QUANT:banghead::banghead: in which areas of quant do i have to focus for my best shot that i can.. i want to pour in all my best of the best resources for my last chance .. plzz do guide me..:):)

What is the weightage of XAT score in the final selection ?

Thank you .. But it indirectly means that people with average acads or below average acads will have a tough time.
My first question, Isn't it possible that people with below avg acads have improved consistently in their job and are performing better than their topper collegemates?
Second one - I'm an average performer, my acads - Xth - 86.3, XII th - 84.2, Engineering - 69.42, work-ex 3 years. Though i'm aware that i need to give my best during the exam and try maximizing my score rather than speculating now, can any of the seniors tell me what are the chances that i'll get a call given that i get about 90% in XAT2012. The last time i.e. XAT2011 i got 88 percentile.

i ws struggling wid nmat till strday...
statrd fr xat js nw..im gud at basics...bt xat is nt dat easy xam....i ve started practicing old papers....quant and di seem to b k...(means dey dosent seem alien bt are lengthy) .....verbal part and dm/lr consists sooo many bouncers for me:-(:-(:-(:-(:-(...shld i start prep wid new material or js go on practicing the old papers and mocks..
kindly advice me...im in a desparate need...

till now i've have onli given 2 mock xat...of time....i'm going good in eng wid 89%ile ....avg in decision making sec wid 70%ile...but i m very bad at quant wid..40%ile ....i've downloaded 101 ethical dilema's for decision making.....cr bible for logic..but dont know how to get the better of the quant portion....any ebook that you ppl can suggest..or any other mantra..help desperately required........

This would be my first attempt at XAT. I prepared for CAT religiously and I guess I am pretty ok with the basics. What should I be doing for XAT? I have Trishna's book for XAT preparation. (Having 6-7 year papers and 5 mocks). Would that be enough? Thanks in advance.

I just have 2 questions as follows------>
1. I am reading Hindu daily.....but i still need some websites to get more stuff to score well in general knowledge and current affairs section...please suggest websites to get updated to score well in this section
2. I have attended snap...in that certain questions have no answers in the options....is that condition will also be in XAT? and i need to know whether it is given intentionally to ignore such questions or is it a mistake in such questions.If it was a mistake then whether marks would be given or not?
