your chances of an IIM shortlist seem somewhat bleak. However, hope for the best and grab whatever opportunity you get.

The GRE depends on the admission deadlines. You'll have to see the colleges' deadlines and plan it. My personal opinion is that there is no harm in giving a month earlier and keeping some extra time in hand (provided you can prepare well). I heard the GRE format etc is changing. You'll have to take all this into consideration and plan.

As regards Nanyang, I heard it has good brand value in Asia, but not so much in US etc. But please make further enquiries.

MBA (Finance): 7.43/9
Summer Intern: Worked on a heavy quant and finance related project (VAR & Basel II) with PNB.
CFA Level 2 Candidate
3+ years of exp in Market Research in finance domain (workin in the private banking industry

I can back these things up with extra co currics as well..

I am planning to give GRE and Toffel in Oct for the spring sessions..

The colleges I have shorlisted are:

Carnegie Mellon
HASS (although lil out of reach)
Nanyang Singapore (lil less expensive)
Georgia, imperia and columbia...

I wanna apply for some gud colleges at the same time keep my option open to avoid the unavoidable..

Wat do u ppl suggest...

Let your GRE scores come out. Then, it will be possible to give a reasonable prediction. Make sure you get a perfect score in the Quant section.

Please dont reveal the salaries etc. I understand that can be non-forum information. Please let us know about the names of the investment banks (only front office roles) and Private equity firms which come there. I need some clarification regarding this because I have heard that JPM and CS come for their KPO units and only Citi comes for its markets team. Please let us know so that it can dispel rumors.

There were questions about front office roles (in I banks) offered in IIM-L.
krishsuraj, a 2008 passout of IIM-L was kind enough to send me the following list :

IIML - Citi (Mumbai/HK), Deutsche, Nomura, Barclays Capital (Singapore/HK), JP Morgan (London/Singapore), BNP Paribas (Mumbai/HK), Kotak, ENAM, JM Financial, Avendus, ICICI Sec, Edelweiss, Motilal Oswal, Barings PE


I have mentioned only the front end profiles here. Please note that some of these companies did not come during the height of the recession. These names pertain more to the 2008 period, not later than that. Hope this helps.

There's a sound rationale to it .... that's why I said you'll get to know why we don't reveal or don't know some stuff ourselves, when you get to the b-school.

There are things beyond Placements and money. I'll be happy to answer those and the purpose of the forum will not be defeated.

For the benefit of the members on this forum, can you explain the rationale?
What is the purpose of not releasing any sort of basic information - something simple whether people from IIM-L get front-office roles?
