What I meant to say in my posts is, in many threads I have seen people conversing in hindi and even moderators do so.. I/we dint complain on it any day cos we thought it is inevitable.. It was the first time I saw complete three pages filled with tamil comments that excited me..

And as I went thro the posts, I saw tamil comment posts groaned. Not even once have we groaned at a post just cos it was in hindi, but u guys have did jus tat which s again hurting..

And it is so hurting to see u speaking like this and guys giving groans cos here in my city in tamil nadu, tamils form only 50% of the population and still they respect northies(guys who run northie hotels, pani puri shops, dress showrooms) and call them with 'anna'/'thambi' (brother) , 'akka'/'thangachi' (sister) jus lik u cal them bhai, behen..
So guys please refrain from doing so, as v r all ONE..

From what I understand, the next waitlist will be out on 18th May. I'd converted in the first list and wish to withdraw my admission now. How much money will be deducted? Is it still Rs. 1000? And what is the outer date by which i should withdraw to be on a safer side.

I tried going through the forum but couldn't find my answer... so please confirm.

Guideline for reaching IIT Kanpur.

From Delhi: Lot of trains are available from NDLS(Newdelhi) to CNBC(Kanpur)
Train took 6-7 hour and one can pick train around 10-11 pm from new delhi railway station and book his/her ticket advanced. Otherwise select the train which reaches at 6-7 am in morning.:

My take is ShramShakti Express (11:50 PM to 6:05 AM), good non stop train from delhi to kanpur. Easily get the ticket if book in advanced.

From Cawnpur(Old name):o railway station taxi/auto rickshaw/shared auto easily available. IIT Kanpur is situated @Kalyanpur outer skirts. So asked anyone once you get at Kanpur for Kalyanpur IIT Gate. Journey takes hardly 30 minutes.

Please come at Ghanta Ghar side at Kanpur railway station mean platform number 16. Do not get outside from platform number 1 as ShramShakti usually come at Platform number 1.

Do not try to come from bus from delhi to kanpur.
Accommodation: Lots of lodges/hotel are available at cheap rates(including hourly basis(do not get dirty)) on Ghanta Ghar side very near to Railway Station.

From Lucknow:
Via Lucknow Airport: Shared/Individual taxi are easily available from Amausi Airport(Lucknow Airport name). Taxi took hardly two hour to reach kanpur. One have to keep two hour extra in buffer for unavoidable circumstances.

Via Lucknow Bus Stand: Bus will take around two hour and drop you at Jhakarkati Bus Depot hire a taxi from here to directly IIT Kanpur.


For Air Ticket: Please book it in advance for Delhi/Lucknow. My take delhi fare will be less in comparison to lucknow.

Try to come to delhi in evening around 7-8 PM and take Airport Metro which directly comes at New Delhi Railway Station(take only 18 minutes from IGI) and pick any train around 10-12 PM.:clap::clap:

I have sent a mail regarding rescheduling on 6th march.. stil dint get reply and now called them. They told tat admissions off is closed now and it wont be working on saturday and sunday. so i have to call them on monday (12/3/2012). My scheduled date of Interview is 20/3/2012. Will my request get processed and will I be given a reschedule?
