I'm Vijet Shetty, passed out from SDMIMD, March 2011.

There is a lot of confusion regarding Spot offer. As chirag and Raghu have mentioned in the earlier posts, Spot offer is given to those candidates who have performed extremely well in the Essay/PI taking into consideration their overal profile as well.

Only a few seats are being offered through Spot offers and others need not panic! As you all know there are 180 seats this time !

Regarding the college, I have spent my best 2 years at SDMIMD...and these 2 years will always be very very special to me!

The infrastructure is excellent and the hostel room are single occupancy rooms with Internet. Campus is Wi-fi enabled.

All our faculties are highly experienced and most of our core faculties teach at the IIMs..and are from IIMs...and we have experienced people from the corporate world coming as guest faculties too. SDMIMD is known for its values and ethics and will always stick to it...The entire system is very transparent.

2 years at SDM was fun filled with a lot of learning and now I feel I'm ready as a manager to enter the corporate world..and I'll always be proud to be an SDMite...!

Stop worrying about what people say ....Give your best in the interview and I'm sure you'll make it...All the very best !:thumbsup:

hello seniors and fellow puys. i got 84.63 in CAT. what are my chances to make it???? also are there any sectional cut-offs in SDm?? if so what are they?? i got only 54.xx in quants with 87.xx and 89.xx in verbals and Di respectively. i have got the form filled up and also the demand draft is ready i am just confirming before sending it. so please help. urgently.... thanks you alll puys.

Yes the Seats are being increased to 180 from 2011-13 Batch onwards...i,e the current selection process for you guys will be for 180 intake :)

I have done BE in Electronics & Communication. i am a fresher. i've got into a gud b-school. But I am confused about which specialization should I select between 1. Systems Management and 2. Operations Management.
i've heard dat gals r given less preference in operations field....also heard dat mechanical people wid gud work ex are preferred....
cn one get gud placement in SYSTEMS after doing BE in ECE....

You are correct in saying that students with prior mechanical work exp will get good offers in Ops field, But at the same time Operations field is not only restricted to ppl with mech background or only guys. This is a worng perception. There are many girls who have taken ops and are doing well. But it all depends on your interest and dedication.

Coming to your second question. If you take Systems in MBA, during placement you stand an equal chance to get into an IT firm for Systems profile. Infact students from Non Engg background are also chosen by IT giants. You will be offered a Business Analyst or a Management Trainee profile to start off with and then you will move up the ladder with experience.

Even I was in the same Dilemma last year. But mine was regarding Marketing and IT. Since we have already studied IT, we have the basic knowledge in that field. I personally would suggest you to go for finance as it is a new field for you and there are lots of opportunities in the market. To add on, you have a system background as well.

However, this is my personal view, discuss with your family and friends and take a decision.
