I have a few confusions in EU, very basic ones. Do help me out here..

Taking an example only, look at Q 33 in this mock. The correct answer according to TIME is option 3. If you look at the meaning of that sentence, I couldn't agree more. But isn't the sentence all grammatically and structurally wrong? "No countries", the use of "each" and "they" in the same breath.. All that left me terribly confused. And that was the reason I had to eliminate this option as the answer, though it looked to be the best one.

This just raised a general question in my mind. For questions that are supposedly not testing your grammar, don't we still look at it? Irrespective of how apt the answer might look, if it has major grammatical blunders do you not cancel out that option?? Be it para completion, CR or RC... ?

Any gyaan on this???

Thats a very valid point, I re-read the question now and couldnt find anything to that effect( though I never thought of that when I actually was attempting the paper).....wont this affect all 4 questions in the set though, I mean dont you atleast get a cannot-be-determined in any of the other three questions??

One thing in defence of the question perhaps....since they have not given any data about whether not attempting=0 marks(or indeed anything else), we should probably assume that the candidate attempts all questions in the paper

Hmmm.. It is possible. After all, I assumed the marking scheme for unattempted questions to be 0 marks. So, yeah, even I made an assumption. And that should render all the questions undeterminable...

But this seems like an ambiguity in the paper to me..! Damn..!!

Ouch.. was my reaction at the end of the paper.. especially after QA...!!

Easy eng.. balanced DI and tough QA is what i feel..!

Just a couple of doubts in Q.11 & Q.13 ..

In Q.11 -> I agree with the solns till the point that there were 6 qstns in Test-III. But after that, solns say that he cannot have more than 6 qstns in test-IV. What I feel is more precise is that he can not have attempted more than 6 qstns in that test-IV.. Isn't there a diffrnce btwn having 6 qstns and getting all correct, and having 8 qstns but attempting only 6 and getting them all correct.. hence 18 marks..??

I can't see anythng in the qstn that says that he has to attempt all..!

Similarly in q. 13. he attempted 21 qstns. That does not mean that he got only 21 qstns.. Can't the distribution be :

Attempted 3 5 7 6
Correct 3 5 7 6

hence 21 attempted.. 21 correct.. score of 63... ???

Where am i going wrong..?? Do I have to assume that no question can be left unattempted?? If yes, why?????

Am I the only one who thinks that the DI cutoffs are way too low this time around?? The last 3 sets were pure sitters..!!(It's a diff thing that I made a couple of mistakes) And wasn't this time's English section a lot easier than last time's?? Somehow, this doesn't reflect in Time's cutoffs...

My score..

Eng - 16C/10W - 36 .. for accuracy
DI - 12C/1W - 47 (assuming ans to Q.60 is option 5.. I also marked option 4)
QA - 10C/0W - 34 for low attempts..!!

OA - 38C/11W - 117

GODS shud be able to get 150+ in ths paper. Was dfntly easier than 0811..imho..

DI- 25.67 ( 26C,1W)
Eng- 13.67 ( 18C,14W) - PJs and Summaries saved me !! In RC got 3C,7W for the 2 I attempted !!
