My, my, quite a glut of posts all of a sudden. To the ManU fans though, let me say one thing. All said and done, let's face the fact that ManU have tons of attacking talent, but NO backup and NO defensive midfielder.

Sure, Carrick has been decent for us, but he's not a defensive midfielder! We have to play Fletcher or O'Shea when we need one and that says something...and that something is not good!

Right about Carrick. He might develop into one, but right now, a few decent tackles and interceptions do not a DM make. To paste what I posted on a footer forum... In his current role, he isnt really anywhere. Deep lying doesnt mean defensive. Scholes and Carrick have worked well so far in the Premiership, but I fear big matches against quality opposition. Carrick is not defensive enough to let Scholes run ahead, and he doesn't go ahead himself, so the box may be kinda short on staff.

I genuinely feared that Chelsea's power thru the middle would break Scholes and Carrick. Dint get to see the match so dunno how it went.

      And oh ... hi all

        Hello folks

When was the last time that the best team in Europe actually won the champions' league?

When was the last time I posted?

Wasnt the final a good shout for video refereeing in some form? Look at that dive of Emmanuel 'Skates not Studs' Eboue. What should have led to another sending off, actually resulted in a goal for Arsenal - and - but for some inspired substitutions from Rijkaard - the trophy.

Too much has been made for the case against technology - right from 'will spoil the spirit of the game' to time delays and 'will disrupt the flow of the game'.

Henry mentioned sth to the effect that it would have been better if he had dived instead of standing up to tackled. Quite just. (and perhaps the only just allegation from him :p)

imho, if you want to keep the blatant cheating- which is getting all the more regular- down, and take the pressure off refs, one needs clear decisions and punitive deterrent measures. That, unless you have a better idea, means technology and penalties more than a few thousand pounds to multi millionaire footballers.

btw ... one of my pals, a Barca fan, had been cursing Belletti all season long. He ate his hat, mine and a few more yesterday

oh, and ... Ballack chose Chelsea because of Terry's 'fighting spirit'. Funny, I thought it was the pressure of responsibility at Bayern and the inviting Chelsea bench did the trick.

Hey whadya know ... Henry pledges future to Arsenal. Idiot Thierry, Puyol was tackling you because you were playing against him ... he wouldnt do it if u joined him! Nice decision - Arsenal would have been midtable without him. Now they have a fighting chance of finishing fourth, so long as they have Spurs' chefs on their payroll ;)

Thanks junta... finally chose the Canon a610. The A95, its predecessor had consistently good reviews.. much better than it's competitors.
Got it at Alpha (Irla). With a bill, warranty + 256MB SD it cost me a tad above 19k.

                    Hi,
Got the A call. Kindly answer the following queries.
                    1. I am an M.E.(Telecom) from the IISc, Bangalore(C.G. 7.5/8.0(2nd)). Will I be able to indicate this PG degree in the form.
                    2. Major achievements: I would be trying to highlight innovation. I have 9 research papers(international conference), 4 journal papers (in telecom) and a patent(at my workplace ni signal processing). Will I be able to indicate this in the form and should I.

                    4. Would investing avidly in the stock market qualify as a hobby. Would reading up on futures, derivatives and options qualify as an interest. Can I cite being recruited by Morgan Stanley Advantage Services (for Risk Management) somewhere without being gunned by questions on why didnt I join that.

                    5. What do I prepare. I doubt that the will ask me acads(diff betn GSM, CDMA etc. If they do good. All my papers are core analysis of aspects of CDMA/OFDMA/CrossLayer at IEEE tier 1 conferences) They will try to hit me where it hurts right. I am pretty strong in Stochastic modelling. Where do I mention this in the form.

1 An integrated 5 year ME ? Yes, there's space in the form

2 Yes again. If you do not find enough space in the form, feel free to make a resume highlighting the other achievements and shove it into the hands of the interviewers. Carry a file of all your certificates/accolades etc and push it in. Sell yourself.

2/4 There's place for other interests in the form. Now just be sure to know enough about them. Same goes with your papers/patents... if they're old, read up on the current state of affairs on the topics.

5 Again, nothing is certain. If they choose to grill you on your academic subjects, you can always try to push them towards your work, tactfully ... assuming of course that you have some decent workex. But recalling the basics of your degree shouldn't be a problem should it?

This may sound strange but the thing bothering me most is that I dont know how to justify my stand on doing mba without work ex because of follwing things
Firstly I had no plans of doing an MBA till my 3rd year and started prepration only then.
Secondly money was the biggest(and lets say the only) motivator but I certainly cant tell this as a reason for doing MBA
Thirdly since I never thought of doing MBA , I have no idea about what kind of work i will have to do after an MBA and also dont know in which subjects to specialise. All that is clear till now is that I want to remain connected to my IT line and have no interest in Marketing,Hr.

Please can anyone career counsel me.
or atleast give me some reason to tell the interviewers as to why I want to pursue an MBA.

Lookie ... the profs know that you are in for the money, and that there's not much of a clue that you have about a lot of things. So even if they ask you 'why MBA' type Qs (which they often do not), it is just to see what you reply rather than to evaluate your suitability for the program based on your reply.

                      4. My aspiration is to work as consultant/General Management for the NGO ,funding agences or start one after 10 year down the line .......How I can convince this to them....I fear they might suggest me to join institute like IRMA......

                      5. IMP: My GD/PI date is 18 feb that's first day i guess....
Is there any advantage /disadvantage of this ?

Haha .. i'd have loved a Q like 4. Just tell them that the quality and competition is much more @ A or some such thing.

Abt 5 .. to the best of my knowledge, admission to IIMA is not on a FCFS basis so there is no particular advantage

Junta.. the people interviewing you have done this enough number of times. They know all the usual answers, and they know why most ppl are there. So try not to dish out some drivel that is very obviously junk. Speak sense and be honest.

The way your interview goes is dependent- to a large extent -on you. Feel free to sell yourself in there, in those 20 minutes that they chat with you. Some applicants may choose to sit and answer Qs. Your choice.

Another trivial thing, are the GDs and Interview on same day? what is the time gap? Do we have to wait for long hrs for our turn?

IIM A followed a neat system last time. The GD starts at the alloted time. The interviews start almost right after the GD. The panel that evaluated the GD interviews the 8-10 participants of the GD. They give you the order of the interviews right at the beginning. In my session, they stated that each intvw would be about 20 minutes long and so we could do what we liked and come back in time for our slot.

Also, if for any reason you'd want your place in line changed, tell the panel beforehand. They usually accomodate ppl if the reason is fair.
