Equal chords make equal angles at the center so angle BOA = angle COA. further both the triangles OAB and OAC are isosceles triangles so angles OBA=OAB=OCA=OAC.

The answers is 9.6 cm.

make the diagram yourself and mark the center as O.

Drop a perpedicular OD to AB. clearly it divides AB into two equal halves 3cm each. Thus area of Area of OAB = (1/2) AB * OD = (1/2)6*4 = 12.

Now AO when extended meets BC at E. Further it should be noted that AB=AC so ABC is an isosceles triangle and angle BAE= angle CAE. thus AE is the perpendicular to BC.

Have a look at the figure you will notice that BE is also the altitude of Traingle OAB where OA will act as the base.

So we ger, 1/2*OA*BE = 12
On solving we get BE = 4.8.

BC=2BE = 2*4.8=9.6
