Relax ppl its only the first waitlist clearance on the basis of the people who didnt send their DDs. There are many who have sent DDs to multiple IIMs and are still thinking of which one to choose, my friend himself has sent DDs to all both C and B.

So just relax, the waitlist would move but this time it might take considerable time. Now people would have time to withdraw till the session starts, so they would take their own sweet time in deciding, just be patient.

As for my prediction, the entire general waitlist would clear. So keep hope ppl :D

General waitlist will clear completely? what makes u think like this?just bcoz ur friend has sent drafts to B&C..does; that mean there will be many others? (Just based on a sample of 1 guy ur extrapolating?)
Dont post random things...as u might be raising hopes of people unnecessarily.... WL has moved till 20 and IIMB Ad comm has clearly mentioned that there are very less chances of it moving further....this small waitlist movement clearly shows the preference of people for IIMB as usual over others....

congrats to all those who have converted. Time to party hard and let this feeling gulp inside. You have made it to "The place to B". Obly one suggestion for now, all things sending cheque confirmation etc will be taken care off....just enjoy this moment for the time being.

For all the waitlisters, the confirmed calls (prime list) appears short this time, so there are chances of good waitlist movement. However it might be due to less overlaps with A. Just keep the fingers crossed.

For those confused between which insti to join. Send PM to me or other seniors from B as insti comparison is not allowed in PG forums.

Been there in ur position and could understand you guys. My advice to you is that, Just relax, if possible have some :drinking::drinking:. Results will be out soon. Some junta has called and they have confirmed that results will be out soon. My impression is that it will be definately out tonight. With so many people trying to open the website, its bound to get down. Just keep the faith.

PS: This is a last year final call getter thread and not the right place to post such things.

You are right when you say that A,B and C are in the same league but what you fail to understand is that for those having converts from more than one in this league there needs to be a way to differentiate and make decisions.

IIM-B would obviously have good( read 'great') placements but when we start comparing with others in the top 3 things do get comparitive. Moreover as you must also be knowing IIM-B's a little too heavy reliance on past acads has hurt its image in the student community, a few of my friends with stellar CAT scores couldnt manage a call from B and others with pretty low percentiles got! Its just that a time comes when such perceptions do move on from student communities to recruiting firms.

In all this chaos it would be great if IIM-B comes up with a placement report and clears the air. IIM-B's stellar rise in the 90s when it also climbed to place '2' in most rankings also saw it regularly publicizing its pay-packages its only now in the last few years that it has stopped, why? This year let alone the pay packages even a placement report hasnt come!? Every time I talk to a senior from IIM-B he shies away from discussing this topic.

Its just that in the end all this drama about not releasing pay-packages just boils down to defending one's school from comparison. IIM-A's placement prof came up with an article ridiculing certain pay-packages only after IIM-C's 1.6 crore package, IIM-A's 1.44 crore package news had come much earlier but he never said anything: he spoke up only when he realized that 1.44 was not that presentable anymore and C had got something bigger.

Thus at this juncture it would be best if IIM-B comes out with a placement report, I as a sincere candidate really badly need some assurance.

I am sure II#M chairman can get a student 2 cr salary this year. Will it be the best Insti? or for that matter II#M guys can publish awesome placement report (Self proclaimed stud to inflate their own ego)...does that mean they have the best placement? and will u join it over other IIM's?


Further, u mentioned that bcoz of reliance on past academic for selection the quality of batch has gone down and hence bad placements and no placement reports? Dude..

i guess u are not aware about the interview process at IIM's and if you dont know this, Companies prefer people with good academics. People with consistent academics gets most of the shortlist, in summers as well as finals. FYI, leading consulting companies and I banks have mentioned many times that CV's at IIMB are among the best in India because IIMB looks at the complete profile before selecting rather than completely selecting people based on percentile and hence declaring results in 15 days flat.

IIMB asks for complete form (SOP etc), LOR from you because they look at everything before selecting you. Having spent 2 years at IIMB i can personally tell you that the profile of people with whom you will be learning for 2 years at IIMB is among the best in the world.

Why are people defending IIM B's placement stats....the institutions IIM A,B,C are the best in the country by a long way....

If anyone doubts that, and wants to join C over B or A over B...its their personal choice.Please take a informed decision if you hav multiple converts....

One thing is for sure...if IIM B has 40 people still unplaced.... then no institution in the country can boast of 100% placement.Period.

See that was the intention of the guys posting bull shit stuff that 40 people are not placed, so as to create a wrong buzz about IIMB. Now do you think that such a thing can happen? IIMB completed its process in 5 days (rather 4 and a half days). Now you can get this verified from the HR of the companies that went empty handed on fifth day.If someone doubts it, PM me!

Regarding facilities:

IIMB has one of the great sporting facilities. Tennis court, Basket Ball court, Volleyball court with lighting. Lush green cricket field. Even district cricket team have matches in our grounds, Gym, football field, pool table, TT Table.

Plus the campus has all the best facilities that you can think off (Including awesome Bangalore weather :). Let me know if any other specific thing you want to know!

Regarding IIMB placements and stuff. All aspirants, all the stuff regarding 40 people not getting jobs and 6 lac salary are a conscious effort by a well known insti to malign our image. I can vouch for the fact that we had a really gud placements this year and everyone was really happy with the profiles offered.

@Moderators and aspirants: Just have a look at the people posting stuff here. These Id: akm-addict and sahil_dev are specifically created for a purpose.

I have some questions and hoping that current students/someone can help answer -

1. How does a student take advantage of the international immersion program? Is thera FCFS policy or some sort of selection? Also how many students are selected for such programs - I read on the website that it was 174 - does that stay the same or changes from batch to batch?

2. What are the facilities available inside the hostel? Does each student get his/her own room or is it shared. Is there any facility for married accomodation? What are the things that one can expect to bring with himself, in case selected.

3. Are there any term breaks (read vacations)?

1. Selection for International Exchange is based on first term CG. During our time it was based on CG and CV. For our juniors it was only CG. Should be same for the incoming batch. U spend a term in a foreign B school. IIMB has tie ups with leading B schools, Like Yale, Stern, GSB chicago, LSB etc. So obviously you get lot of exposure and definitely does add value to your CV. I personally went on exchange and it is highly recommended. Regarding seats, there ample seats available. IIMB has by far the best International exchange program in the country.

2. Should be single acco for the incoming batch as new hostel block should be ready by the time you guys come in.

3. Yup there is usually a break of at least a week after every term.

guys...plzzz reply to my query...this issue is being created in various iim threads.........my query is once i get final admit into an iim, do i necessarily need to submit relieving letter????

serving notice period is not a problem for me but my company as a practice doesnt giv releiving letter if your workex is less than 5 years....i hav 4 years of workex till date.....there is no point in pleading HR.....they r typical indian mentality cannt see any other indian rise....so suppose this is the scenario, then wat i m supposed to do? i hav salary slips, PF slips, offer letter, increment letters etc.....will this be sufficient???

Chill and relax. IIM will not deny admission to you bcoz ur company has this weird policy. Ur Salary slips (First and last) along with offer letter should be enough.
