Could not remembertold him Sorry sir, I cannot recollect. (now I know)
What are the 4ps of marketing ?
Price, place, product, promotion.
What are the various promotion strategies ?
Said that they would depend on the type of product, for instance if you are launching a new product it would require more interaction with the consumer so direct selling could be one strategy, also extensive advertising etc.
What is your favourite Add ?
Sir, its not a very recent add, its the Cadbury advertisement where there is a cricket match going on and on the last ball the hero need to hit a six to win the match and complete his century and as soon as he hits the ball it just crosses the boundary for a six and the girl comes and dances on the ground and the background music Kuch Khaas Hai Haam Sabhi Mein Runs.
Why that add?
Sir, any place where you associate your product to cricket it brings out the true emotions of an Indian and the people tend to associate with the product.
So you thought that the add was very emotive?
Yes Sir, It brings out the true emotions of an Indian.
Why was Cadbury in the news recently?
Sir, it was because of the worms controversy where allegedly there were germs in the chocolates but from a few reports that I have read, there is an indication that it was the retailers who were not storing the chocolates properly that is under proper refrigeration and because of the heat the chocolates got spoilt.
So whose fault was it?
I think it was the retailers fault primarily however it is the companys responsibility to make sure that the retailers make sure that the chocolates are stored properly.
So what are your other calls ?
Sir, I also have call from IIM Calcutta.
Oh, so if you get calls from both places where would you be going ?
Sir, I would be delighted to get calls from both the IIMs it would be a dream come true for me.
But, if you had to take a decision which one would it be ?
Sir, I have some mentors and a few friends both at IIMs and I would consult them and then take the decision.
So what have you learnt in stastics ?
Sir, I have learnt Hypothesis testing and(interrupted)
What is type-2 error ?
Sir, when the Null hypothesis is wrong and the customer accepts it as right this is called type-2 error, it is also called as consumers risk. There is another error known as type-2 error, where the Null hypothesis is right and the customer rejects it as wrong, it is also called as producers risk.
Ok, so have you studied regression analysis ?
Yes sir.
So what is the standard error term ?
Sir, the vertical distance between the regression line and the point is called the standard error.
So what would happen if the points are normally distributed ?
Sir, the basic principal behind a normal distribution is that the mean, median, mode lie at the same point and a bell shaped curve is formed.. blah..blah.. so in this case what would happen is that the sum of the error terms would be equal to zero.
So have you studied financial accounting ?
Yes sir.
So what are the components of a balance sheet ?
Liabilities and Assets.
What are the thing under Liabilities ?
Current Liabilities and Long-term Liabilities.
What comes under current-liabilities ?
Short-term debts, etc..
Where would you place Assets ?
Sir, Asset side (major goof up) Oops, actually sir if you are raising a capital through an IPO the money belong to the share holders and not to the company so it is a liability.
How do you measure the profits out of a share ?
Capital gains and dividends. Told him what both were.
What happens to the share price when bonus shares are issued?
The share price would go down because the market cap would remain same, which is the numerator, and the denominator, which is the number of shares, would increase which would reduce the price of the shares. Took an example and explained.
So what did you say your other calls were ?
Sir IIM Cal.
Ok, thank you Mr. Sharma.
