I am here for obvious reasons. I am aiming to enroll for an MBA next year.
My profile: Class X: 92% Class XII: 85% Dual Degree (Integrated BTech and MTech) from IIT Graduated in 2009, CGPA: 8.6/10 Working in R&D; of a major steel company for almost 3 years now Extra curricular: Primarily sports, actively involved during college, somewhat limited now (not nil, though) GMAT: not yet taken
My current profile is that of research but I aim to move into a General Management/Strategic Planning type of profile now. In my current profile there are limited opportunities to be display great leadership potential as a part of job is to carry out fundamental/academic research. However, I feel I have done reasonably well and have some good results to show.
Request you to evaluate my profile. Is R&D; experience any hindrance for MBA? I am targeting ISB, and some other Asian B Schools. Are there any specific colleges that you recommend for my desired profile? Is it imperative to have more extra-acads e.g. NGO exp etc. for a good MBA admit?

This is Bipul. Education and Work Ex Background: I completed Dual Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 2009.
Current Occupation: Am working as a Researcher in Tata Steel 2009.
Why on PG?: Now that I have spent enough time in the current job to realise Research is not my cup of tea, I intend to move to a general management profile. One of the best ways to do so, I think, may be going for an MBA.
Specifically looking for what on PG?: 1) My options for MBA, 2) GMAT preparation tips, 3) How bright (or otherwise) are the chances of a Researcher of getting into a good MBA college?
Aim for next one year?: Crack GMAT, get admission into a top college... other than this things are still a little blurred!
