hi puys ...can any one help me with my doubt....i have a 3 years gap in my education career after 12th then i joined an engineering college and passed out in 2009.

I wanna appear for CAT'11 but will this gap in my education anyhow affect me in getting admissions in IIMs...Puys i need a serious help with this issue of mine as to i have been sufferring a lot in my career due to this ....please suggest me what to do ....should I go for CAT or not will it affect in many matter for my addmisions .....

I am Ankita... From COEP 2006-2010 batch. Its good that you have decided to do a PG because deciding wat PG to do (MBA or MS) is the biggest issue. Once you have done that, its time to start focussed preparation for THE CAT. First, it is very important that you have some guidance in terms of a coaching class. There are numerous coaching classes and the most difficult part is to choose which one to join. (or is it? ) Anyways, let me first tell you my tryst with CAT. I took CAT 2009 (the first online CAT) for the first time. My preparation at the time couldnt be considered as great but was definitely above average. I scored 98.01 percentile in CAT. I got calls from MDI(converted), NITIE(converted), IIM Shillong (Rejected). I had joined IMS coaching class and TIME and Career Launcher test-series. So I would like to give you a frank opinion. IMS has a very unstable faculty. every second day we had some other faculty. So it was very difficult to connect with them. Also, they did not concentrate on the all-round development of the student, ie, making sure that the student reads well, etc...Well, I dont blame them for this because they have too many students to actually help each n every one with their personal skill development. They do have some very experienced and talented teachers.
I am giving CAT this year, and though I did not join any class this time, I happened to attend a few workshops of Tathagat (famously known as TG or TotalGadha) And believe me, the quality was really very good. They make learning an enjoyable experience. there is a great bonding between students and teachers. The teachers are brilliant and they are always available on phone, or online or personally to help you out. I have attended their english workshops so would be able to comment only on those. they were simply outstanding. they literally put themselves into the student's shoes and help crack the paper. They give strategies of how the toughest of the papers could have been solved with a cool mind and good reading skills. I personally feel that a combination of TG, and TIME or/and Career Launcher test-series could turn out to be a great combination for your preparation.
All said and done, you should definitely go and try out each class (IMS, TIME, BYJU , Bakliwal, and TG) and decide for yourself which one you are more comfortable with. I have attended a few byju workshops as well. Though I find him great, i wasnt too impressed with the DI faculty coz he went too slow for me. But if ur weak at Di, u may actually like him. So I have given you all I had to say for all the classes Ive been to. Now it's upto you to decide. What you could do is, go a little prepared before you attend a demo class. You would know how each class is teaching. Also go with a few doubts n see how well the teachers are able to help u with them. Please do not make a decision on the basis of what the crowd says. decide for yourself. If u have nemore doubts or wanna talk to me personally, feel free to PM me.

this is ravi here...as per u post it seems that u have quit an experience for CAT.....which i guess will b helpful in clearing my doubts as well..i m presently working in CapGemini and want to appear for CAT in 2011...i have passed out in 2009 n not at all touch with studies so it will b great from your part if u hep me thru with this !!!!!!!
i m confused as to where to start from or where to get coached from n one more thing as i will b free on weekends only so wont b having much of a time for prepartion..as my schedule wont permit me..so can u please guuide me thru or brief me thru as to what needs to b done in terms of preparations and where to start from and do the coaching n all ...
