Can ny1 tell me How waitlist movements can be checked and how much time it'll take to move .I have a waitlist no. 1 in DA (unlucky me) so i hope it will get converted.

2.where i can get the last year's waitlist conversions of IIM B?

Waitlist 1 should be converted. No need to worry. It would take atleast a week to start moving. After that you would be given a week or so to deposit the draft. Link to last year's discussion thread is given below.

Congrats to all those who got selected...Others please don't lose hope!

For those in wait-list : You will get a mail informing you about the status. A deadline would be given to students with offers to drop a cheque to confirm their seats(Mostly within 1 week or so). After this they will start clearing Wait-list. At that point you will get a call from the institute.

Just a little curious.

1. Does one have to specifically apply for a student exchange or are the top GPA holders from the first term are offered these programmes
2.How much does one benefit out of these exchange programmes given that the they are at best for one year. Does the concerned university offer any scholarship to the attending student should he wish to return to the university for further studies after PGP
3. Doesn't one miss out on the subjects for the term that he is away?

1. Yes. One has to apply for Exchange. All the applicants will be given rank based on their Term I GPA. The allocation starts with the top rank.

2. The exchange program is only for Term V. Universities do offer scholarships for the exchange term, like DAAD scholarship for students visiting German Universities.

3.They will miss the subjects offered in that term. Few subjects might be offered again in Term VI.

The Exchange will not be a hindrance for Final Placements.

Exchange Programs adds value to your resume especially in terms of Global Exposure. If you perform well there and achieve something it will be an added advantage(Scholarship, Dean's List, Internship, Project/Competition etc).

Student President, ,Club Secretaries, Placement Committee members cannot go for Full Time exchange.

Currently there are two exchange programs - Full Time Exchange(Term V) and HEC Paris-IIMB Exchange(During Term V-VI break for 2 weeks)


FT
Advantages : Spend a whole term abroad. International exposure. Opportunity to travel to a lot of places.

Disadvantages : Heavy on pocket as you need to shell out additional 2~4 Lakhs. FT Exchange not possible for people planning to stand for elected posts.

There are only limited seats in each university. So the allocation is based on Term I GPA of the candidates who apply. This time 200+ students out of 375 applied for both programs.

It will be nice if someone can answer this. What was the initial amount last time ? As the fees did not change this year, I guess the initial amount might remain the same.

Also what are the provisions of taking loan ?

Hi

Last year a DD for Rs 75,000 had to be sent within a couple of weeks to confirm the acceptance. A month later Rs 1,25,000. On the day of admission another 35,000 would be required towards caution deposit and mess account.

Along with the offer letter, they will dispatch documents for loan as well. The officials from banks like SBI, SBM would be present on the day of admission.

Senior do you have any information as to how the results will be communicated. So will everyone get a mail or a list will be put up at the website.

Also what was the wait list cutoff for last year.

The results will be put up in the website, you would be getting a mail as well.

Seniors/anyone else who can throw light on this,

I have a question regarding the Process that B has given for PGP-2011 Admission. They have mentioned:

"All candidates will be required to provide three confidential reference letters from their
employers or faculty and this will also be used in the personal interview evaluation."

Some questions related to this:

1. What does confidential mean in the sentence above? Would we need to get it sealed by our reviewer before we can see what is written inside?
2. How important was it in the previous years?
3. When exactly do we have to submit it - just before the interview? Will they read it then and there?

Yes. You have to submit these letters in a sealed and signed envelope. Whether you see whats written in them depends on the person giving it to you :)

Dont know about the importance. I felt they took it into account!

Mine was collected by the interviewer during the interview. He opened and read it then and there while the others carried on with asking questions.
