Two questions:
1.Is accomodation available for the call getters in the IIMB campus?
2.How far is the campus from the main railway station?

My professors in college are gonna laugh at me if i ask em for a recommendation cuz we have a mutual non-cooperation deal goin....so im gonna have to take atleast two recos frm school...n since ive done my schooling abroad, sending the letters n getting em frm there to blore might take more than a week.....the question is "while delays in the receipt of the application form may not be allowed, will there be any leeway as far as letters of recos are concerned?"

I hav a diff prob with profs .............. they hav asked me to fill in nething i want ( apparentlythey think im worth ne kind ofreference ) ............ so now my problem is how much to make the reference glow ............ n wat kind to pt as my drawbcks .......... is it ok to say no drawbcks atleast frm one prof?

ok look at it this way. a recco that only glows n does nothing else easily seen to be written by you. ppl sitting here looking at the reccos are pretty smart. so they are mostly gonna figure out that the reccos weren't too authentic.
i'll tell you wht i did. i sat with my boss(we were fairly pally n stuff) n he told me what he really thinks of me. (n it turned out to be good ok) then i wrote a recco that had some good points abt me n some areas which my boss thought i cud work on. so in the end it looked like a honest recco giving a good idea of who i was.

the way i started was to sit down with someone u know well n ask them to talk abt u.



I have also got a call from IIM B . My GD/PI is on 22nd at Delhi.
Same problem here. How i gonna collect all references in such a short notice. And with proffs its pretty diff as we never has good rapport with proffs. Its total dillema here..what to do what not to do

u must've done some computer class, taken soem training...something....so to the centre manager of ur training insti something....get them to put a sign on ur sheet yaar. it can't be that difficult.

>>not really. they want references from ppl who have a good idea of who and what you are. having said that if u can avoid writing in the ref letter how long you have been associated with these ppl then one good ref letter out of the 3 from them will make do.

I've been working for 3 years with TCS now. Would recommedations from my clients be fine?? Am planning to get two from different clients and one from my boss...

Cant all the 3 reccos be from professional sphere ?!! I dont even remember my profs !!! (Other thn my cricket coach ) and im sure they aint gonna gimme even a decent recco incase im gonna barge into em anyday soon !! moreover i can't go all the way back to kerala for tht !!

over and above all these..do these reccos really matter ??!

second the reccos definately matter! so take your time writing them. not only the content but also the way you have presented urself goes into saying what you really are. a shabby recco just says that you aren't too interested/responsible.

I mean you can send one. its not going to be a big deal but look at it this way. the profs here have lads of stuff to do already. there are a LOT of reccos to be read. in that event ur fourth recco just gets ignored in all probablity. so why take a chance of getting them irritated.
pick 3 and make sure they are well written.

i didn't have my SYBsc marksheet while takin admission so i had to submit it before december.
Apply for a duplicate. Atleast you'll remember WHERE u did ur 11th from. :-)
relax...if u don't get it in time u won't be denied admission because of that. they always give you enuf time so that u can get a duplicate no matter how long it takes. but apply for it all the same.


For how long will the GDPI sessions last?For ex I have mine scheduled at 2 PM.Will it be possible for me to catch the 9:30 night train

One remembered how lost one was after getting one's call from the iims. so one infers that one can do some service to pagalguy junta who face similar clouds of doubt.

I am sorry people. Seriously. Life sucks big time. I mean I haven't left this campus in the past 22 days.
See its not like we don't have time for anything except studies, but you life is just sooooo involved with activites on campus that you just don't realize that the outside world exists.

Eco quiz happened today. I mean whatever yaar. The only thing that consoles me now is the one sentence that all seniors with a gpa of less than 2.5/4.0 have been telling me:
"I am here for the learning, not the earning"
Hehehe.

So there. That's teh bestest excuse one can give to oneself(and others) when once screws a quiz.

btw, every alternate saturday we have these big parties on campus called L-square parties. The name comes from it being held on a central location in the hostel in the shape of an L. Deepak the fat lazy bastard will tell you where the square comes from.

That party is happening currently. And I am not in it cuz i am trying to punish myself for not doing well in the eco quiz. See no what one has to do in life out here.

Apologies for disappearing for so long. Not like I wasn't around. Just that life is getting pretty hectic at work in the final month.

Yes Philip n Deepak, Bangalore it is for me.
Lots and lots of thinking and talking and headbanging later, Bangalore it is.

One thing that I'd really like to start here is a thread about the B vs C debate, from people who are going into both the schools.
Next year's crowd is going to find that extremely useful. I could have used one like that for sure!

I have a wedding to attend at Bangalore in the last week of May. Still deciding whether to hang out in B for a month or come back and go again.

If I do decide to stay on then I guess I'll be one of the first guys to be reporting back on the forum straight from campus.

And hey Pagal, I don't think you will have more than a 5% attrition rate from ppl joining the IIMs. We owe a lot to this community and I guess each one of us is anxious to pay back in whatever way we can.
And hey it could be useful to us too. We could maybe drop in a few assignments on the forum and one of the enthu junta can always complete it for us.

I am very excited right now. I have never stayed in a hostel unlike most of the engineer junta, so its gonna be an exp to look fwd to.

Here are the proceedings of the meeting dated Sunday, April 20, for the unlucky few who were unable to attend.

Firstly, we had a whale of a time.
So lets begin from the beginning. Aliasghar was the opening batsman arriving an awesome 10 minutes before the alloted time.
By the time, Sudha, myself and a friend reached the place, Jagdeep, Siddesh, Aparna and Srikant were already present.
Sohit and Kaushik, the people living closest to the place were the last to arrive(!) except Elizabeth who landed up a little later.
In all eleven of us, including 4 gentleladies, braved the scorching afternoon sun to fraternize with the community.

We moved on to a dimly lit restaurant where we had haevy intellectual discussion like whether the hostel rooms will have attached toilets and why some people didn't make it through Ahmedabad(ya right!).

Next we moved to the beach and this is where the fun began.

We clicked a few snaps thanks to Elizabeth's camera. Sudha tried to commit sucide in the water but returned on realizing that we were anyway taking snaps without here.
Aparna looked a little sick and pale and emaciated but recovered after the gaming started.

Aliasghar was unanimously nominated to be our gaming man! He came up with some dazzling games with names like 'Pee Paa Poo' and 'Chop Chop Chilli Chilli Chop Chop Chop'
Whatever they sound like, trust me these were absolutely hilarious group experiences.

All doubt between B and C was removed by the end of the day and most of us are really looking forward to spending the glorious two years in each others company.
Everyone Please to be around on the 27th Party.
May the lord smile upon such great occasions. ;-)

A postscript: None of you idiots, including me, wished Elizabeth a Happy Easter. Tch tch. Such miserable manners we have.
