Yup...happy...sleep mention mat kar yaar...Ek to pehle se hi ankhe bahar aa gayi hai..Aur dark Eye circles to itne sare concentric circles ban gaye hain even fair and lovely wont be able to help..


But the schedule rocks...Except for the back ache..no breakfast, no bath and deo dry clean..dark eye circles, headache,, and a bed that has 2-3 books, a few newspapers a dozen notes, a bag,a jeans 2 tshirts a few pen, laptop and its adapter on it..you still manage to push these things to a side and get some sleep on that bed..

Typical schedule.

8:55 get up...
8:59 rush to the clasroom, no breakfast, belt half hanging out..

1 pm lunch.(first stock of carbohydrates for the day hit the throat,,ahem and its just heaven)

Classes till 5 pm
Come back and sleep.(if you really want to)

Otherwise carry on with your assignments..or case studies etc etc. or just gather in a room..and start singing some useless song .

Some people have the courage to go and play football,basketball etc etc

Fallin for evening classes usually around 10 pm..the classes continue till around 3..(I just came back)..And then usually an ice breaker and Xl culture introduction session that continues til bout 5 am..

Get back... Shout a little..make place to sleep on your bed..
And off to sleep..:) another day begins at 8:55

Well thIS has been a wonderful threads that have portrayed the life at XL beautifully, specially the descriptions by bugs bunny and ninja talli, this is the a small tribute to the same with seasonal updates and some freshness , and its time to continue the legacy..:)

This is a naive attempt to present the high definition frames of a Journey towards and into XL...with raw info to the very core that might get available.. of course the usual sarcasm,filmy lingo..and back stage scenes shall be shamelessly recorded and presented here with full honor.

Ok..to start of with, lets talk about the protagonists of this to be movie..and also the place where the scene shall be set..ya ya.. you got it right..of course we will be talking about some too old for toffee school kids. Its just that instead of some bright and avid faces you shall see some sleep deprived monsters with inconsistent stubble growing out of many visible places. and these wont be the happy go lucky students with a lolly pop in their month and a Milton water bottle hanging in front of them.strapped tightly to their shoulders.

And not to forget another characteristic of these innocent little kids that their morning pleasantries usually consist of the cult MC ,BC and DK Bose series (new addition). And the knickers (i hope I got the K right) in the uniform have gone to the next level with 2-3 and in some cases 4 piece business suits(even am still to see one yet)



Oh..well..seems to have been a long thread intro post..already.. So guys if you have reached this far in this post, its good if u are a mod or a passionate PG follower, or you really need to get a life..


So to sum up, in a typical business style..(am still learning to conclude) We would try to bring you the journey from outside and inside of XL.. Our reporters will try to reach every small corner of the XL campus and update you with the happenings and status wherever possible without infringement of any copyright or someone's privacy.. till there are so many books piled up before me that I don't even get time to pee or the red marks due to repeated spanking on my butt turn black..

M.Sc. - 82% (IIT Kharagpur)
B.Sc. - 79% (KUK uni)
XII - 74.5% (UP Board)
X - 70.6% (UP Board)

I'm targeting ISB for coming session. I wanna know if it's good enough to get ISB.? What all I have to do to make my profile for ISB? Janta, please help.

Buddy you have a fairly decent accads..and you would be among the top notch competitors for you are from the statistics and informatics background.

I would suggest that you try to differntiate yourself from the rest of IT crowd by focusing more on the Kind of Analystics profile you have, and the challenges that you have faced in it in your work., You can make good use of your profile and its easily a profile to envy, with your strong GMAT score.

Also try to introspect and find out, what other things you had done in your life, some hobbies that you have, are something that interests you..
and try to make a good mix of your personality, acads, acheivements, hobbies, extra curriculars, what you want to achieve in your life and how would an mba from ISB help you bridge that GMAT..

Follow on these pointers and u shall have a decent profile buildup.

There is a very thin line between confidence and over confidence..( We could easily use the Introductory statement of the Movie Omkara here...) Hope you get the picture..

Confidence is a good to have thing, but it will be helpful only if you have good basics and loads of practice behind you..that u can add the flavor or confidence and taste success..

As of now..Try to get out of this shade of confidence as a fence to cater to your reluctance to get back to studies...You havent studied in the last month..It is really bad... Mocks are gonna start..and then your confidence will get out like a home run..


So...leave everything else...Get your books, and start putting efforts..and make use of the confidence that you already have.

700 seems to be a good score keeping in mind the average GMAT score for IIMs fall into 700. practice helps to improve accuracy in RC. try RC99

Bit of advise on reading comprehension.

1)Take any novel and read through 10-15 pages before you go to sleep everyday..and get it into your schedule..

2)Practise with Online GMAT Computer Adaptive Tests, to read on the screen and moving up and down after getting to the questions is something that needs practice.

3)Go to the GMAT section of TotalGadha.com they have 1000 RC question set, you can download it and try solving 3-4 RCs.

And finally if u can (though it may take some time to practice this) and its my personal opinion may vary for you..Try sometime not to read an RC with an intend to solve some questions based on it, But try to read the passage as you wish to gain something out of reading it, and take that gain with you..And most of the times you would strike well with the answers because u would have an idea in your mind about what the author really wanted to convey.. A level below the plain english words, the take home from that passage..

Guys please help me on dis.I want to appear for GMAT this year and apply for ISB 2012-13 batch.My work ex would be of close to 3.5 years by the time I join ISB(hopefully:)).Anyways I have had a decent preparation for CAT/XAT(though unable to crack the 99 % bracket)..Aim to get a 700+...I wish to apply during R1 for ISB...Please help me.Donot have any exposure to GMAT...When should I ideally book my GMAT if i intend to apply for R1 @ISB???Also whats the way to go forward???I am assuming 4 months of preparation wud be good for GMAT.However am also working full time...4 months of preparation wud mean I sit for GMAT in Oct...Will I be in time to apply for R1???Please advise...On these points or any points that I need to consider going forward.Thanks

Pasting an old post of mine below: Hope it would be of help to you..

You would yourself have to create a schedule as per your convinience,pace, time since you have been in touch, whether u can stretch long in the night..or get up early in the day.. ..etc etc..


But mostly 3months of Dedicated and smart preparation is enough..

I will just paste the pointers from one of the previous pages(hope you havent gone through it..) and hope it helps..and you could prepare your schedule based on these..
1) Go on mba.com official website, they have a free mock GMAT, give that and you would get to know a bit about where u stand, what GMAT is all about,and what u need to do.


There is a plethora of material available on the net, if u can sit and search for a day. I had some 3.5 GB of material for GMAT, but beleive me, these numbers dont matter, what matters is the material that you use which shall polish your brain , to identify , understand ,and fix whatever the GMAT shall serve you...

And OG is anytime the BEST thing you can lay your hands on..

Try the following strategy , if you have enough time..

1)Rush through Princeton Review for GMAT if you have enough time.. for 2 days (just to get a feel of all the topics that u shall need to cover..)

2) Download OG 10 , from the internet, u can use sites like esnips to download many guys tank the online version of the materials there.

3)After that get OG 11, And follow that up for OG 12.

4)If you still feel, you need some more in either Quant or Verbal, get the Official Guide Supplements( they are separate for Quant and Verbal)

5)For Sentence Correction consider Manhattan Sentence correction Guide as your bible (and apply it whenver u do sentence correction Questions)..

6) When u will apply for GMAT you will get a CD delivered to your home with about 5 mocks(I dont know if u still get it) but its very good.

7)Also register for Manhattan GMAT (they will give u one Mock GMAT Computer Adaptive Test for Free)

And download Kaplan Tests and other GMAT Computer Adaptive tests that u can lay your hands on..)

9) Finally if you have done all this you can refer to Kaplan 800 ..for some tough Verbal and quant(only if you need to..but I would always advise ,,go back and revise OG, thats the best bet..)


There are also some very good material available on the Net like 1000 Sentence correction, CR,and DS questions, Spidey Notes , dangy taggart guide to GMAT etc.... But again..if u want to stick by my advise..Treat OG as your god..and put efforts in online mock tests..


PS: For essays you can use ACRO guide(u can find it on the web), but again my advise, just look into the 5.5 and 6 rated essays at the back of OG..have a clear starting and ending structure in your brain..take care of your grammer, and usage,,and that shall be more than enough..
