I'm quite new to this thread,hence i have a few queries abt Oxford and UK MBAs.
I have done quite a bit of research abt US B schools, but am quite at a loss abt UK schools.

1. What are the VISA/Work Permit rules in the UK/Europe. I understand that the recruting company will have to sponsor ur VISA, but are there any concessions/freebies in the UK.(just as in OZ, if u have an MBA u get the VISA to work for a couple of years). Please let me know ur thots on this.
   
2. Secondly, how is the funding scenario in UK schools like Said, Judge.I am aware that funding is a big NO NO in b schools, but are there any chances of a partial aid, TAs GAs etc as we have in some US B schools.
   
3. Finally, how is the placement situation when compared to the US B Schools

..i come from a common pool of IT-26 male, i will have 4 years exp by next year,
i have been working as a CRM consultant for the last three years,,,,i think this is something i can sell, in spite of being from an IT background,,,,my question to you is, how difficult is it to convince the adcom that u r fit to take a cross to finance/consulting, when i dont even know what is a balance sheet .....and insead being a 11 months course, does it equip the students for a career change from IT to say consulting,,,,,
Also, please do let us know if u have any info on placements in Insead for Indian IT male to say consulting/marketing,,,i think this is something that will help everybody in the group!...

Hello all,
I have a few queries regarding the specialization that most people in
here choose..
From whatever i learnt over the course of one year of my contacts with
various B-schoolers on this group i have come across very posts on
areas like marketing, sales. I guess that most Indians for that matter prefer to major in Finance(or Finance related)
and end up in Consulting(of all kinds) or Finance, which can be
attributed to the following factors
Superior quant skills.
The lead time to clear one's loan is quite less in these jobs
May be most indians have a non-sales/marketing background(i am not
sure of this)

I just want to know the career prospects for people planning to major
in areas like marketing, sales and plan to work in the US.
I know a few people who have had plum offers in marketing research and
brand management
and how true is the myth, that indians find it difficult to find jobs
in open marketing ?
Further, how difficult is it to get into a Top tier school with a non-sales,
marketing background

i need some advice ,,,,i am plannin to app for 2007/2008, i am in a dilemma abt that,,
i have a decent profile with ok acads and extra-curricular activities...
10th-90%
12th-94%
Graduation -BITS Pilani, (8.3/10)
I am with Inofsys since 2004, but here is the catch,,,tho i am a SE, i am in a BA's role in the CRM space,,i am with a AMEX project and i have had quite a good exposure to the BIZ side of the business including client meetings,,blah, blah..
Further, strangely enufff i have not been into any tech-intense projects,,,will that have a bearing on my app?

but i feel i need to contribute to some social activities, i have just begun volunteering for AID hyd and online volunteering thru the UNO inititative.
Also, i dont have any overseas exposure and the chances are also slim...will that have a bearing on my app?
assumin i get in the 700 bracket what are my chances in the top tier schools,,,i know its quite a stupid Q,,but couldnt resist myself
i dont mind staying back one more year...say till 08,,,to get into a top univ
