Please join gim-batch-of-2010@googlegroups.com send a request. The moderator will approve it in a day or 2. There, all these queries and many more things have been discussed like Laptops, Food in GIM, Blazers etc.

It was the D-day for our seniors today. It was an amazing feeling watching them getting convocated....Another year, and we shall be on that pedestal that they stand today...

And as the GIM tradition goes, we still stand as PGP1's until our junior batch takes our place.....
Adios, PGP2's .....you guys rock...as always....and we are proud to be PGP1's ...following the footsteps of an awesome batch....

yesterday there was a Ribandar Talks function and the eminent speaker was Tata Sons Finance Director Mr Ishaat Hussain.
Mr Hussain gave insights into various Tata Companies and how they mobilize finance to grow.
He also highlighted the importance of ethics in Tata Group Business and also mentioned the CSR done by Tata Group.
The Talk was only for 30 min followed by 45 min Q&A; session, as Mr Hussain preffered to have an interactive session
In short, a nice insights into the corporate world by a person who has been there in tht world for more than 40 yrs

Indeed.. very insightful talk..... views of Mr. Hussain were very enlightning specially on issues like CSR and business ethics.
but how come there is no mention of the awesome party organized by our very own RazzMataz.... Had the party at Pharows Den.. A pub near calangute.. (Actually its candolim) As usual, it was a rockin success. These people have mastered art of organizing successful parties. looks like Junior Core committee have picked up the baton from senior core committee really well. So is true about most of the clubs.

ppls, its been fabulous experience... to work along with our seniors.. to see their skills in organising such a grand scale event... Being a part of it gives so much pleasure.. and satisfaction that whtver our minimal contribution was.. it was valued greatly...and thanked profusely...

It was finance conference, which was held this weekend.. samriddhi - financing India's development was the theme. We has some awesome speakers and engaging audience. Add to that brilliant papers presented by IIML, IIFT and IIMA students. IIM A was the final winner but all of them were very close. Overall, 2 days came n went n we suddenly feel light... load is off our back,, but this time it is not so welcome feeling.. it was such a great fun working for it...
But we dnt hav time to miss it... Now's the time for putting our heads down for studies... as our end term starts Tomm... already feelin inadequate abt prep.. but exam to dena hee hai...
So, all the best to all PGP1's... we rocked samriddhi.. ( with the blessings of our seniors offcourse.. ) nws the time to rock exam hall...
more abt it laterz.. nw gotta go to sleep for tomm's paper of "Managing legal risk"...
days are so much happening here.. dnt get time to post... regularly... well nt for me as me nt a frequent poster but for others... pardon thm.. n me also.

Grand Alumni Meet:
What a meet it was.... after a super hectic week, we had 2 full days without any lecture,quiz,submission, game etc etc. Thought would fill backlog of sleep in these 2 days... n I m glad that I didn't.
Well people, if any posts on this thread are of any evidence of 'Spirit' of GIM.. imagine wht it would be when multiple generations of GIMites come together...
First of all... Hats off to Alumni committee for organising such a fabulous event, though I guess this has become a practice now to GIM students :smile:
Rest of two days... were damn good....
Whole campus was filled with cars n more cars... it was sorta desirable inconvenience considering the intellect they carried.... Thn it all started.. A smile here and a hello there... n you are on... You get to hear wht GIM stands for.. .complete unbiased view on anything. . right from faculty to work to GIM everything... This informal interaction was the single biggest success (In my opinion) of this event.... Then there was more...
Impromptu performances in cultural evening by 'Super Seniors' i.e . Seniors who have passed out. Back to their shaking roots at 'On the Rocks' Pub... in alumni nite party... the basanti cup cricket tournaments on sunday...All of it was more fun than formal.... added to this the 'truth ' counsellings cum interactive sessions on various streams of management.. though one felt that the time allocated to it could have been more...
All in all.. This event certainly brought lump in the throat of our seniors... Next year they won't be here.. they knew it... we knew it... teased them but you couldn't help feeling for them...
So that was it.. the GRAND alumni meet...

If kentech feels it was hectic before Castalia.. Ask him nw....

after Castalia the pace is trippled.....literally... n we cant imagine hw nxt week wud be.... we are having Exams/submissionss/Case study analysis every other day....:neutral:
every day slleepin @ 4 n actually studyn till then... Finally getting hang of likes of Eco....Finally understandin POM is our only friend here.....

So overall... nw u understand the unique advantage of GIM.... the surrounding just alleviates all the stress... I had written earlier tht we r enjoyn... well nw we r enjoying all this much more... the night rides @ ferry after studyin n before studyin again.....late night randevezous @ jaggus n mess... n the look after the exams.... Man it geting awesome day by day....:smile:

M in mumbai when everyone is meeting seniors/bumping sachin n discussing case study.... n yeah.. orientation.... ??:

Take 1: 13th June

Reached GIM... knowing only one guy in my batch....with thoughts of attending remedial courses and study hard... with disappointment abt hostel...n missing out on LH cos we reached late...

Take 2: 23rd June

Knows atleast 60 ppl and remember names of atleast 30 n friends with almost everyone.... this is even though college is yet to start...
Attended only one day of Prof. Kamat's Remedial... bunked rest...
In 10 days there.. partied in OT twice.... went on island cum birg sanctury which wasn't thr trip... played lotsa TT... now knows most of panaji as if its the case always been.... already have started lovin OT 23... n yeah... feels good to make ppl jealous... Just missed one n half day till now n already feels like missed a lot... chatted with seniors and already underwent Personality Development Program (which is free) once... +fringe benefits of having access to superb collection of movies n games.... (of batchmates )

Was this the way I wanted....?
Aaah it far exceeeded all expectations... was apprehensive a bit initially as like anyone else...but actual thing is much better even withh all the snails/common loo-bathroom/no wifi in OT/no parking for 4 wheelers.....:) now all tht is just plain happiness... may nt lastlong due to rigors of all sorts or may be augmented by it... but whatever the case... Life@GIM in first 10 days was an experience As good as it can get... first time felt genuinely happy to have missed other Bschools... So well whtver picture can be gathered by our posts here...we can never be able to tell the strange but pleasant feelings we are getting...
Be here to feel it...

I am very much interested re.. but I don't think we can get even similar deal.... Though I am all open for trying.....
But My two cents on this matter.... "Get it from US...if possible"
most of the macbooks do not require service though its a piece of Electronics so anyting cud go wrong... but if you are willing to take that risk, pls chk this
The Apple Store (U.S.)

They are refurbished but as good as new and cheap.. though they disappear very fast from the site. This will mean buying it from US and either No service or buying out international service plan.. which will defeat the purpose of saving cost... and in anycase, Apple India has service plan for orphaned products (their term ) for 10K per year... thts arnd 250$. The NMiMS's Config will cost arnd 55K (1299$) with one year limited service (in US only )

I am ready for buying in India also if we can strike a deal even as good as NM's. If anybody has found any Information about it, Let me know otherwise I willl buy from US in 15 days or so.
