How ELSE are we supposed to know who wants what ??? And this is something that goes on in every B-school....The extra charging has been made so that people think before making their selection. To you PGDISEM/PGDITM are backup options...but to others it's the ONLY option...rather they WANT to study that subject. Don't you think they deserve preference over you????

Please save me an unecessary trip to the admissions office. Since NITIE admission is purely based on merit in CAT, I should qualify too. I can point out a candidate who has less mks than me in all sections in CAT, 10th , 12th, graduation, work exp.

Please consider me too.

I had put this question today to my Mentor.. however, i am reposting it here so that it gets answered to the entire audience and all of us can gain from it :


I have 3.5 yrs work ex in the IT industry. I would like to know the difference between PGDIM and PGDITM programmes at NITIE, specially w.r.t the following parameters :

1. flexibility/versatility in terms of choosing electives in each course (for eg, does PGDIM in IT/Systems give a greater list of electives to choose from for finance/mktg or PGDITM)
2. difference between taking PGDIM IT/Systems with finance electives and difference between taking PGDITM with finance electives
3. difference in career paths for PGDIM IT/Systems grads and PGDITM grads

Dude you don't seen to have read the pages properly at NITIE website
visit the site...click on PGDIM->core subjects and electives and do the same for PGDIM.
I have no idea what PGDIM in IT/Systems is....:shocked::shocked:
PGDIM is general management (same as PGDM) and within this you may OPT for special elective subjects in Fin/Mktg/Ops/Gen etc.
In case of ITM...the electives for Fin/Mktg etc are included in the core curriculum of PGDIM....
PLEASE take up ITM ONLY when you are genuinely interested in management in IT. No point thinking of getting finance jobs while in ITM....it's for IT specialists and the electives are just for further knowledge.
Bottom line: If you want to make a future in IT...by all means go for ITM...if you want to go for finance then take up PGDIM and then take finance electives.
IMPORTANT: I believe you got a call from ONE of these two courses...so I don't get why you are concerned of the other??? You can't change your course.....

Last year the cutoff for PGDIM/General was around 98.3x
That could be a reason. If your preferences were not in proper order then you wouldn't get a call as well (as I explained in previous posts.)
Also..there are some reasons that visionIIMACL has mentioned. Check them out.....

It has been mentioned by VARUN that accomodation will be given max for one night & 2 days. Here is a problem. We have to report at 8 am. Tht means we wil report a day before. Next day we are advised to book a flight back only aftr 10 or next early morning. So tht means 2 night stay should be allowed.
Please revert back on this.
Because basis all this we need to buk return tickts and we need to do it ASAP.

Dude in such a case you will be allowed to stay. Don't worry, we at NITIE won't kick you out...hospitality is definitely one of our fortes.
Worry more about your GD/PI...that's what's gonna be important.
And it is also possible to plan your journey such that you reach early morning on the date of interview (as was my case).

Not NECESSARILY so...but understand that a person with 1st priority as ITM will get the call first even though he has lesser percentile compared to you. That's because his interest is more alligned towards the subject and in your case it's a backup option. Only when all such possibilities have been considered will a person's 2nd preference be honored. It is extremely rare for a person's 3rd preference to be entertained.....
