What do you all think of Career Launcher's Statistical Analysis version 2, and those 'MUST' apply scores for other CAT allied institutes? They've definitely brought their scores down for both.

But does MDI and NITIE really look into sectional cut-offs the way IIMs do? I heard that they don't really; the former needs a 95+% is what I had known.

What say you?

If i aint wrong,last time MDI did look for the Quant cut off and it was sumtin around 95%.

I took CAT last year, did not do well,joined infy this year!!..its been almost 4 mnths now..

Rather than cribbing about infy or the ppl who cribbed about infy ...lemme tell you what i think...


I would say, leave Infy only for IIMz..(no offence meant to other guys:)...)

Its got an amazing brand value...i have perceived it.So even if u work in Infy for a year and still dont feel good...you will get many takers..and that too very handsome salary.

WORK....true...depends on your luck....either u do nothing or u slog!!...atleast u can take a chance rite!!...and dude believe it or not...its same in almost all biggies....iflex,IBM,Oracle....but when uve gt nothing to do..u can either prepare ofr CAT or play tennis,TT,badminton,snooker,pool,futball,cric,,,ur choice:)

Salary....its a major downside...15K gross...but u get arnd 11.5 in hand after all deductions(including transport fare).50,000-70,000 Rs....pheww forget it....atleast 10 yrs...i repeat atleast 10 years!!

But man think realistically...when infy comes in news every now and then on TV...when infy is one of the top three IT Indian c/os,when infy is a name which an avg literate would know who mite not know other IT biggies....INFY must be having something.....So leave indiaz best only for the indiaz best:)

are any of u taking any of the Mocks presently.
I recommend u guys take a few Mocks before hand to get to know the rules of the game. will surely help during the prep stage. btw any1 there to comp TIME scores.

and hey...ur taking CAT05??...and ur getting arnd 93 perc score...thats decent enuff man...u can always notch it up....

Even i am one of the go-getters takin CAT2005

No...that wont be my first attempt...i took CAt2003..managed 95 perc. and luckily a call from MDI...but as u wud have guessed...cudnt convert:)

Currently working in Infosys. oined in July. Hopefully i shall be completing around 22 mnths by the time i join some institute in 2006(again hopefully... )

I completed my MSc in IT in 2004 from Gujarat Uni,Ahmedabad. But currently in Bagalore.So probably i would be preparing for CAt here itself...

I am planning to re-start in the new year .....but feel like brushing up my basic in quant as of now...and also woudl be concentrating on all sorts of passages nwo onwards.Coz my reading and comprehension in RC is pathetic...

Thats it...havent yet planned out meticulously...

I have rather off-the-mark queries.... not directly related to CAT paper...but yeh tangentially...

1)How many mnths of work-ex is needed to be considered for lateral placement....if i have a 22-mnth work-ex m i considered for lateralz???

2)Suppose i have 22 mnth work-ex in IT industry and then i go on to do MBA in Finance...then duz my work-ex really help me to get gud lateral offers??

3) Finally, is it very hard to get into IIMs with an M.Sc in IT degree??

Its the time to prepare for CAt in top gear w/o having any doubt in ur mind.Any apprehensions. Just remove any doubt u have abt ur capability!!...or in that case even the time factor.

Coz this is the time to prepare on full throttle. On a guesstimate, atleast a 35-40% of ppl wud start it on a really serious note. Also this is the rite time coz u must have missed any of the simcats@IMSorCL....and in case of PT or TIME...many more to go...

Dont give a half-hearted try thinking that its your first try...if somethings wrong..figure whats that...and somethingz in the mind that really duznt allow one to perform at their best..Seriously m saying from my personal experience..last yr till october i used to get 50 arnd percentile in quant and arnd 80 perc overall.Then in the last mnth i slogged like anything and got arnd 96 perc in quant and 95 perc voerall...(which fetched me a call from MDI,though cudnt conver it)..so its never late yaar...and remove any premonition u mite have...

So going on that line...u have much more time Mik..and now since u are done with other things, give as much time to CAT as u can..now is the time dear now is the time...

take all the mocks diligently.analyse them even more diligently.know ur weaknesses,know ur strengths.

i have reservations...bcoz last yr when i asked the head of IMS..he said u need to post it and cant go there hand it over directly to the admissions office.

hey monika..may b i m addressing ur problem a bit late...but still...

i had joined IMS last yr.It was below avg to say the least.In between they closed down the centre and many other problems..

then for CAT-refresher batch i took up CL...and i found it really good...to say the least...all the faculties(quant,eng and DI)...are very gud,helpding and friendly..

cant say anything bout PT...but still its very popular in baroda...

i can vouch for CL provided they have the same faculty...i.e Mr Raj for Quant and Mr Prashanth for eng.

Mocks of CL are okaish...quant is gud. Eng isnt upto the mark.try to get he Simcats of IMS..they are gud.esp RC and verbal.
