We understand that we should not join PMIR just for the XLRI name. However, to make an informed decision we need some more information about PMIR. I hope everybody needs it here and many people are ill-informed. Can some senior from PMIR help us answer these queries ?

3. XLRI never reveals the placement statistics separately for BM and PMIR, hence, we all have no idea about the actual placements, kind of profiles offered etc. Can somebody throw some light at least on that front .

I hope if these doubts are cleared, many people who are confused and deserve this course would be joining. Thanks a lot in advance.

My 2 cents.
The request for separate placement reports for BM & PMIR is one that has been comin for years, but we aren't able to provide one simply for the reason that isn't any differentiation when it comes to placements. Almost every company that comes here, has openings for both bm & pmir. only profiles differ, the salaries are same. Infact the highest salary this year was for a HR profile.

As for the other Qs, you are goin thru sumit's thread. Plus sumit will be workin to come up with a list of hr profiles for final placements and summers, that should be helpful. Will also try to get other (passed out) pmir seniors to chip in.

End of the day, for pmir there is no better college in india or asia. keep that in perspective when u ponder about profiles or placements.

Yesterday... Bodhi Tree went for an Interview with S-FM Radio channel. We made a jingle for them on spot.. recorded it and completed the interview. It was awesome fun...and then we headed to Bloooms.

Hi all.. I am a newbie.. I want the advice of all XLers and core pagals..

I wrote cat this year
I expect to get around 92-93 percentile..

You would ask what this has to do with XAT/XLRI..

I know XLRI is one of the best colleges in INDIA,but some of my friends study in IIMs... sometimes I feel I too should make it to the IIMs..

At other times I feel is it really worth waiting/wasting another year for the IIMs..?Are IIMs insuperable..?Will there be a great difference career-wise,opportunity-wise between IIMs and non-IIM colleges...

Because of this I am not able to prepare whole-heartedly for XAT 2009.Kindly explain...
I am asking XLers because some of you would have wanted to write CAT again but would have felt otherwise after joining XLRI...No one can answer better..

P.S: I am posting this with due respect to all MBA grads.Do not mistake me.

@Atomant, basically you are asking to compare colleges. And that is not really practiced at PG.

But to give an answer in a single line to your query;
if it is the top three IIMs (A/B/C), yes to an extent, for rest, very frankly, no.

But that is my call, not needed to be yours or anyone else. And no, this is not in respect only to XLRI. There are some really good colleges out there. Dig for info. For instance start with PG rankings itself and various other sites, etc. Talk to MBA pass-outs, junta in colleges, etc.

I have a few questions on the application process for XLRI BM for 2009.
1) I was working in New York for little less than 5 years and recently quit my job (August) and came back to India. Does this make me an NRI applicant? If yes, then what is the deadline for submitting applications for the BM program for NRIs?
2) Since I have 4 years and 10 months of work experience can I still apply for GMP?
3) What is the minimum or average GMAT score that XLRI is looking for in candidates?

1)Zack, The basic criteria for NRI applicant is how you apply and the manner how you pay the fees (check eligibility and other criteria at XAT / XLRI Online Registration). In my batch I have two people (one BM, one PMIR) who are both living & working in India, but at that moment (in 2006 end) were in US/UK and hence applied through NRI option (GMAT and all).
2)Have seen a lot of queries on similar lines on the GMP thread at pagalguy, the gist of the replies said yes, you can, but i would suggest you to have a look at that thread again.
3) again would ask you to refer to the posts on that thread.

They were received on the 24th, but have not received any confirmation as to the receipt.

Only option is to call them. But I wouldn't ask you to worry, haven't heard of any forms getting misplaced ever in the last 2-3 years. Wait for few more days, generally maximum applications are recieved in the last 10 days and hence longer response times taken by the admin.

Narasimhan, as far as i remember you'll get a mail later, where you'll be asked to confirm your image and other details and so on. Wait for a few more days. You'll get it.

I want to know whats the last date for XLRI registration? I have already registered for XAT. Today is Sunday and I didn't get a DD for XLRI but just XAT. Can I register for XLRI on 1st DEC, 2008?

At the site it mentions last date to register for XAT: 30th Nov.
Last date to receive payment: 05th Dec.

I guess the registration link would get disabled on 1st, but never checked it before. Maybe you could get lucky. Wait and watch. Nothing else to do I guess.

@desiredmanager, go through the posts on this thread. You'll get multiple opinions for both your Questions. Also there is a seperate thread (30 day Quant prep for XAT) on PG for practicing Quants just for XAT. Search for it.

Well this is my first post in a very long time and also the first on any other b-school thread.
But I had to say this. I was at Ensemble and witnessed the XL hospitality and was very impressed with it. I have come back with some fond memories and a bit of moolah as well

IIMC was rocked by Xlers! Literally!

Stage : GSK StratEdge Competition, Eastern Zonal Stage

3 teams from XLRI and 3 from IIMC shortlisted. We head off to Cal (IIMC) for the zonal presentations on 17th.

Result - 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize, all go to XLRI, with the first team heading off to the finals!!!

First IIM Indore, now Calcutta! What next ;)
