Hi MartianOnEarth,
I need your opinion on my approach and choices I have made .Let me present my profile first
10-72%
12-73%
BE(CSE)-72% (OK univ)
ME(IT)-61% (Top Engg College)
GMAT 720
Age 30
I have total experience of 5.5 years as of now.
Started off career with real estate clients, within 2 years was leading a small offshore team of developers. Also coordinated with mutliple firms for different aspects of project.
After 2 years moved to work in US on HR domain for a leading US firm. Was Support developer and analyst for development of new modules. Started off and worked independently and coordinated with different teams at clientside and in India. Did this for 1.5 years.
Then moved to a new client, a leading healthcare consulting firm. This firm was a new client and I helped setup offshore Team in India for them. Was business analyst and offshore coordinator for India Team. Did this for 1 year.
After a total 2.5 years in US, I came back to India and quit my first job after 4.5 years. I then joined a technology firm. This firm is very active in digital advertising. My current role is of a Team Lead.I lead a team of 5 developers and testers. My team provides technology solution to advertising needs of various banking clients.
I want to move to investment Banking, but I reckon that IB is an option only if I pursue MBA from some top notch colleges. so my plan is to try for IB in some top colleges and consulting otherwise. Also since I already have some background in consulting, I think a 1 year MBA from decent enough Bschool from Europe should also be ok( I am fine with working in Europe).
I am open to work in either US,Europe or Asia just want a decent job and growth. Also I would like to join MBA by sept 2011, I can't try again next year.
My current list of colleges is as below. I still havent decided on split of R1/R2
1. Columbia ( stretch)--IB--is known for finance and is in NY
2. Fuqua (Stretch)--IB--good in finance and consulting also has non-cosigner loans
3. Chicago Booth(stretch)--IB--good in finance ,consulting
4. Darden(possible)--IB--is good in finance
5. INSEAD( possible)--IB--I think my international exp and diverse client should make it little easier
6. LBS( possible)--IB---website mentions that they like career switchers and also this is a good school for finance
7. Oxford (likely)--Consulting--has good value in India and UK
8. HEC Paris(likely)--Consulting--has good value in France
9. Cambridge(likely)--Consulting--has good value in India and UK
Please let me know if my current approach looks fine? Is the school selection ok , would you recommend some other schools also ?How would you suggest I go for R1 R2 split?
Thanks in advance
