The teaching would be primarily focused on class-room lectures. You will be taught using power-point presentation. A few lectures might involve writing notes from the presentation on your own, once the slides are in front of you. Even ,at times, you might be scolded like a nursery-kiddo when you are not jotting down from the slide;). Trust me, 2-3 faculties are real gem, both as a person and as an intellect. You will be at awe for your entire life.:-P

The concept of Techno-mom and Techno-dad has been borrowed from the engineering colleges. I don't know why people have started disclosing it beforehand for all you juniors, because the charm it has (if at all there was any;)) was that you have to scout and identify your techno-dad or techno-mom by yourself, without asking your seniors. It is meant to improve the bonding shared between the juniors and seniors. The techno-dad/techno-mom are supposed to be worthy of yuor name and help and act as a mentor to them, helping through notes, books ,and what not (provided you people show the intent to learn and mix:p)

June is when your trimester starts. You will have 6 trimesters. At the end of roughly 45 days into each trimester, you will have your final exam for the respective trimester. The trimester will be interspersed with 2-3 surprise tests, which ultimately adds on the total evaluation.

Extra-curricular activity: The college always finds a way to celebrate :w00t:At times defying logic;) If you are a good singer, dancer then you will rock people (flocked by a lot of girls;)) On a serious note, you will witness at-least 2 Panache (XISS-college feast), 1 Nostalgia, Farewell, Fresher, Industrial Visit, Industrial Tour, Alumni Meet, blah blah..
All these event are more for fun, and entertainment and it has that "added-tadka" to keep you high. Unfortunately, the inclination towards business-oriented programs are least.

Being a girl you have an advantage here. There is a place called "Tharpakhna" (the street just in front of the college gate leads to Tharpakhna), where you will find PG and twin-sharing (even single rooms) in abundance.

And the irony is that those people will out-rightly say a resounding no to you, if you happen to be of the other gender (read boys), inspite of having room

We faced a similar situation during our time Shamelessly moving from one place to other and confronting similar situation everywhere, where even the landlords were knowing that the guy is (by now) aware of the fact that we are lying

I would suggest the boys to google "Locanto.com, Ranchi", its a mast kind of a site, and will keep you updated of a decent accommodation. Watch out for "Chakadola" (name of an agent). He is a seriously big agent and can provide you a room anywhere in Ranchi.

The placements in IT is not good. Part of the reason for that is that it has a created a bad name for itself (because most of the backdoor entries are offered a seat in IT). The faculty of IT is decent, but the kind of exposure offered is not enough, i would say.

This year a few students were able to bag handsome packages (Companies like Britannica, HCL turned up for them) but overall the scene is not good.

If the backdoor entrants are not allowed (offered a seat) this time around, only then one can expect a change.

For people having work-ex of 5 years or so, use your wisdom. By the way, if you have paucity of option, then only you should go for it.

I personally maintain that if you have it in you to take the extra pain and the dedication to do something you can do wonders in any given situation.

As of IMT Nagpur, it is good and bad in it's own way.

I must thank all the "To-be-xaverians" and "Not-be-xaverians" (read everyone active here) for answering the queries of repeated nature.

I am assuming that you are asking for PM/HR batch...The department of HR and it's faculty are very strict on uniforms. Rest of the department wear uniform as and when they feel like..Earlier we were following the concept of Friday dressing, but that has been scraped now.
Girls are asked to wear Saree (again, the college decides over it) during the Placement season, seminar, etc.

Yes, boys are supposed to shave daily, else they are fined Rs. 50/-
We have the system of random checking any time of the day
Students not wearing their respective uniforms are also charged Rs 50/-

1. You are supposed to wear a formal shirt and trouser, as the boys do. In due course of time, you will have a tie and blazer as well
The college has tied up with a tailor (every department as it's own tailor) and this way, both the tailor and the department mint money. I must suggest you to ask the tailor in very strong words to keep the length of your shirt a tad long, else he will stitch an ultra-short shirt which could not even get tucked in (trust me). Rather, you should warn him, to keep the length appropriate (P.S. A lot of friends had to go for new shirt of the same color because of short length)

2. The girls hostel do not have wi-fi connectivity. But, TATA photon, BSNL, MTS, Airtel works very nicely in that region.

3. Nobody can rag you in the college premises. Father Director as well as the administration is too strict. In hostel, you will have fun sessions (don't read ragging). It will include general naach-gana, introduction,etc. All in good spirits and for better bonding for the next two years. The administration keeps a very close eye on what is happening in the hostel, so forget of anything which comes in the traditional definition of "Ragging".
