I have coverted the NIRMA call and have got 32 months of work ex in an IT firm.

I have few Queries regarding NIRMA. Can you please help me out:

1) Were their any Lateral Placements this year for the Exp guys?
2) I have opted for Operations.Can you tell me about the faculty and the job profile and placements offered this year for guys with exp and operations background.
3) what was the percentage present of exp guys in the last year's batch.

And this query is for the guys joining:
Are their any guys with more than 30 mnths of exp joining NIRMA. Please let me know.

There were 65% people with exp in batch 2008-10 and about 55% in 2009-11 batch. There were/are large number of people with more than 2 years of the work exp in diversified fields but mostly from the IT sector. There are no lateral placement week at Nirma but companies are offered lateral profiles separately, and some firm do provide variable package and profiles for laterals based on their requirement and fitment.
Placements of the batch 2008-10 have been decent with 100% placements for eligible batch of 116 students.
Highest - 9.5 lpa by Daimler India
Average- 6.4 lpa
Lowest - 4.5 lpa
Major recruiters were Daimler, Tata Tele, Omnitech,Religare,Citi Bank, Care, IMRB, ACNielson, Virgin Mobile, Infosys, TCS,Zycus, Delloite Consulting and an other Delloite associate, BNP Paribas, ICICI Bank and Lombard, HDFC ltd and Bank, BOI, BOB, IDBI and more.

I know there are colleges equivalent to Nirma which had Lateral Placements i.e. till 2008. Before 2008 Nirma didn't many people with work ex in the batches so there were less efforts towards lateral placements though profiles of experience candidates were presented to the companies in a different manner. The bathes of 2009 and 2010 had 50% and 65% people respectively with good and quality work ex but unfortunately market was not such to provide space for lateral placements. A framework has been developed in the mean time and lot of efforts have been made to develop such placement scenario. Also this year as well many companies offered differential package and profiles to experience candidates. The market is fast recovering and thus with more efforts further progress can be made.

Evaluation of an institute is a very subjective thing which can only be done by people who have full rights to all the information about that institute.
That is why we have AICTE things which govern them all.

But, aspirants like me and many others have to rely on the feedback of people who know that institute better than we do. And to add to that, we also have other little little things to catch about the quality of education imparted to an institute's students. These are :-
1. The attitude of the institute when contacted over phone or email.
2. The way of conducting things during a GD/PI round.

3. The behaviour of its current students or alumni.
4. Information given to us by our current employers who incidentally are one of the recruiters at the institute.
5. Information we take from the website. How informative it is for helping us in taking a life changing decision.

I, in no way, endorse the comments passed by the guy on the credibility of NIRMA but i take strong objection to the behavior shown by the current NIRMA students. Please do not forget, your role as a mentor here is to provide clear information and correct who has given false information.

By being extra aggressive on these things only shows the level of maturity an institute has inculcated in you even after going thru the complete MBA education process.

Please cut this aggresiveness and provide facts which NIRMA's website should have carried at the first place.

All is definitely well with every body here.

My dear friend .. If you look at my earlier posts on the thread..U will not find me aggressive. But when things turn into a wrong direction, people start pointing fingers at our intent and credibility which hurts.
Please visit other B-school threads and you will not find the extent of information which is given by us. And being an alumni I can say, MBA is not a life transforming course, it does not curb your instincts. Also being aggressive is sometimes required when assertiveness doesn't work. I hope you get it.

Please post the entire list of students who are placed through the college and also the ones on their own. I wrote the name of companies and added "etc" which means there were more companies. Neways ... I request you even if you convert IMNU, Please do not join the college, u r an IIM+ material and as u kindly say this college is shit though the average percentiles of idiots studying there was/is 95+, also compare other colleges and post their figures as well, it will be hugely appreciated, u looks like a resourceful guy.
The channels like INDIA TV is really creating an impact on people .. U must join some media channel.
Moreover ... Puys take your own decision, when college is ranked consistently among top 25 in India and been able to provide value to students time/money, then surely its not some " DARE TO THINK BEYOND IIMS" college.

I am a poor alumni of the college of batch 2008-10 and worked closely with the placement cell but I don't know the facts.
When u say facts it should be with from a verified source and from an authenticated person, which in-fact you are not.
If I was not interested in giving true picture I could have told that college gave 100% summer placements and would have manipulated many figures. I don't want to play with the lives of people. But since I know the reality and can very well say that when next batches will pass out, improving market condition will also help all sail through the storm.
Nirma is not the best college in the country but its among the best, it has few cons because of which it is not in top 20, and I hope current & prospective students will make efforts to take the college pass this hurdle.

I understood why our resourceful puy is spitting venom against Nirma.. his signature has career launcher link which say Nirma is in "cluster 5" and the colleges converted by him in "cluster 3". We all know how these rankings are done....

Adding to Ankit's queries, I have three of my own
1.Do the IT companies cosider Work-ex in IT and adjust the packages accordingly(ie a higher package for a guy with work-ex as compared to one who is fresh out of college)?

2. After one is selected in a company during placements, is the person out of the placment process or is he allowed to sit for other comnpanies as well? Is the concept of dream companies followed in IMNU?


3. Please shed light on summer placments. Of the batch of 180, how many people got summer placements last year?
Do companies come to the campus for summer internships or do students have to try for it on their own? What is the average stipend that companies give?




Seniors, I request you to provide answers for these.
I have seen the previous pages of the thread, and the answers have not been very clear, hence this post.
Please, note that I am not doubting the credentials of the college, I am just trying to be as informed as possible, for that would help me in making the right decision.

Yes IT companies consider work ex in IT and offer variable package, but the concept has changed a bit due to recent recession, now they ask for relevant work experience in IT i.e. now it depends on their requirements.
There is no such concept of dream company at the institute, frnds still the economy has not recovered from the recession, when colleges are finding tough to place all the students such concepts will not be seen for long time now. This is the scenario is most B-Schools.
Summer placement has been decent at Nirma with nearly 75-80% students were placed by Nirma placement cell while rest choose to look for profiles on their own. The speculated stipend has been 8K-10K, since it has not been calculated.

I have got final admission call from NIRMA but I have still not made up my mind. I am waiting for other results but I want to know, shall i block my seat in here and take my decision again when other results are out or I should let go NIRMA?

How much is the fees deducted when we opt out of the college?

And current crop of NIRMA, please come out with your placement details for 2010 batch? how is it going?

Sir, I think you are really "ALUMNI"...and not been touch with college any more...

Whatever nishantvdo has given the info is correct..this is somewhat the same which i had a conversation with IMNU student on Chat...If you say ..i could post the entire conversation.....but i really dnt want to do so..considering me as a friend he has given me the true picture of the college..

i appreciate him and the student fraternity of IMNU...with whom i interacted..who discussed with me the pros and cons honestly..like location..etc...

but indeed what i felt some seniors over here are boasting too much about NIRMA..this is just my opinion...

indeeed NIRMA is reputed college..but in the last two yrs..recession has struck it like other colleges...and so she needs time to come again and stand up...

i hope this can be answered precisely..and expecting to get the answer on this page itself rather than 4-5 pages later because of irrelevant stuffs...

I am not a long passed out alumni of college, check my signature. As per your query, the info i gathered from the placement cell.

Profile in Summers: Sales, Marketing, Credit, Rating, Operations, Consumer finance ( U will not get corporate finance in summers and recruiters also don't disclose all information till you join)
Daimler India, SAIL, Omnitech solutions, GSPC, SBI, HDFC , BOI, BOB,TCS, Vodafone etc were few big recruiters.
Average stipend has not been calculated but speculated to be in range of 8K-10K

There are few who got there internships on their own in Advertising firms, Pepsi, Tata Motors, abroad (Dubai etc) and more. I hope that gives u an idea. Now don't ask me to put a list of all the names, exact profiles and stipends etc
No one is boasting the college, but don't expect any of us to say that colleges is pathetic, don't come to this college and stuff as no one is gonna say that. The colleges has its pros and cons like any other college, as said by some one it is getting back in the shape with improving economy if MBA is just about placements.
