@hkustmba2013 - I have been following this forum for some time now as I intend to apply for HKUST MBA 2014 intake.

Would you be able to share what percentage of HKUST MBA grads go into sales trading? Do you know anyone who interned or joined FT as a trading analyst / associate?
I am assuming getting into sales trading in HK would be comparatively easier than IBD. IBD to some extent will need business level knowledge of Mandarin. Same applies for sales. But for a trading role you don’t necessarily need Mandarin skills.

I am sure he must have provided his email id for the application process. Do members from adcom contact the recommender via phone , mail or email?

There are some business schools in the US that have non cosigner loan options , how about Ivey , does it have one ? (I certainly did not see anything on its website though).

Well, I am asking all these questions as I am still holding Ivey on my list of 5 schools which I am looking forward to apply next year. And funding for Ivey is already starting give me migraine. :P

I wish someone with an IT background wld comment on this but the only two ppl who got in with a school did not have an IT background. BUt it makes sense coz nowadays there are no need based scholarships, u get a schol only if the school really wants you and you have a good profile.....as you mentioned since the majority of the app pool is frm IT getting a schol might be diff but if you do have a good profile it might be possible....

coming to funding, yes it is a very expensive program and the max loan you can get in India is 20 lakhs.......anythng above that shld be personally funded.....or you cld get a loan a better interest rates in Canada but you wld need a canadian co-signer for that....

Read a bit abt the Ivey partnership program, depending on your interests post your mba you wld be put in touch with three mentors frm that industry who wld be helping you throughout the course.........also there is the get connected week whr classes are suspended and alums actually come on campus for interaction and also if your in fin Ivey also organises a visit to Wall Street to get in touch with the alums there, so networking wise you do have a lot of avenues just depends on how you use them i guess.........


Majority of the apps who have gotten in do have some int exp, it is something which is good to have but not mandatory because there are a few admits who dont have int exp at all........

Richard Ivey is the best MBA program in Canada (some would say it's Rotman, but different people have different views about it).

However it is a very expensive program CAD 70,000 + CAD 25,000-27,000 (living expenses). Ivey is not know to be a scholarship friendly school , more so for the Indian IT Male community which is the most common applicant pool for B Schools around the world.

How are most of the Indian applicants managing to fund such a huge amount?

It's not exactly in downtown Toronto, so how are current students managing to network with alumni from consulting, investment banking and other industries in the city?

How important is international experience when applying to Ivey, I know many schools are looking for international exp., as a mandatory part of your application.

This is a very interesting thread. I am planning to apply to Emory-Goizueta Business School for their 2012-2014 programs. I know most of the chaps here would have done a significant amount of research regarding this school, and I am just hoping some one can share their experiences here.

I have couple of queries and hope some one in this forum helps me out with them.

1.How good is Emory-Goizueta for management consulting / strategy consulting jobs? I see that top 3 consulting firms hire from Emory-Goizueta (MBB) , but what is the ratio of international students (desis to be more precise) do they hire ?
2.How are you planning to fund the MBA program? Has any one been in touch with Emory-Goizueta regarding loans, could you please share some information regarding both co-signer based and non cosigner based loans?
