At this time it is not advisable to do foreign MBA taking a huge loan and lost income which both may amount to any thing between Rs 50 lacs to Rs 1 Crore including tuition fees, living expenses , incidental expenses and income foregone. I know many students from Rotman, IESE, LBS, Cambridge etc who have returned to India without getting a job even after waiting for 6 to 8 months. This happening from 2011. IESE has not also released the placement report for 2012. At least 5 IESE indian students have returned. In some cases the parents of the students are well to do or working overseas. I know two cases where the loan is being repaid by parents. MBA is regarding brand name. IESE, Rotman, Said, Judge etc do not have any brand name in India. They do not have large alumni network. Even if you get a job the pay me Rs 16 to 18 Lacs CTC. Out of this 1-2 lacs will be variable pay which you may or may not get at the end of the year. If you take Rs 15 lacs as the pay about 30% will go towards Income tax and another 10% will go to EPF. So you are left with Rs 9 lacs or 75000 per year. In any Metro the minimum rent and living expenses will be about Rs50000 if you live conservatively if you are married or Rs35000 if you are a bachelor. So you are left with Rs 30000 which is about USD 550. It will take at least 10 years to repay your loan. Still you have not recovered your living expenses and income foregone for 2 years. So think hundred times before you leap. Even in India 5-15 % of IIM students are yet to be placed and about 20 % ISB students who will be graduating in April 2013 are yet to be placed. The placement salary given by IIMs are at least 30 % overstated. MBA is not going to open a great job market in the present circumstances. Even in the top MBA from USA the employment percentage is 90-95% only after 3 months after graduation. In Singapore getting an Employment Pass is very difficult for the last two years. Hongkong you require local language. So most of the MBAs from Europe including Europeans are getting dumped in Middle East. The left-over Indian they have no choice of coming back to the over crowded MBA market in India.
