Sir, that is what I wanted to know what are your personal views MBA(IT) or MBA(gen) considering your experience in industry since even in IT who have guys from MBA(gen).

Anish problem with MBA from an IT centric specialization is that, by chance if during placement economy situation goes for a toss, then IT is one segment which suffers first.

In 2009 everything went haywire for our batch because of recession, Everyone freezed hiring, and even if they were hiring it was too less in number like when TCS came they hired only 4 people similarly with other companies which previously used to hire some good chunk of people.

Point is at times it's bit risky to be based completley on IT, HOWEVER that's one part of story, another important thing is that what excites you? I don't feel like going for mktg or sales based MBA (although it throws open numerous oppertunity for me) because I wanted to go ahead in IT itself something related to consulting.

So, if everything is perfectly fine then there is no dearth of quality oppertunity in IT after MBA from SCIT. However if economy situation goes a bit down things become slightly tougher (but thats the challenge of life ).

What more to say, this comparison/analysis is endless, at one point of time one has to conclude something or other based on his/her gut feeling+risk taking capacity+personal interest. Rest is your hard work combined with a bit of destiny ;). It does matter to be at right place at right time.

Rahul sir, since you are alumni of Scit . I have given the fees for scit but now I have
Converted for too ,so thinking of joining that what would you suggest for
me ,since I am a fresher btech comp. Sci . After 3 years passing from scit
How do you stand now ,its not about the college comparison both are equivalent. I am talking about
But the course offered by both FORE would offer me IB along with marketing and scit
Would offer me PG in IT. What future do you see in both.

Buddy I wish I could have given a proper reply to this. Will suggest you to surf through last few post on this thread and then on FORE thread. It will make things a bit easy for you.

SCIT and FORE cater to different segment all together, so you need to figure out first what you want to go for, a specialized course in IT or a more generic one in mktg etc, both have their pros and cons.

Buddy did I claimed anywhere in my post that SCIT is better than X collg or Y collg?

Firstly I am a non-believer in ranking system. You know what even if SCIT comes in TOP-10 indian B-School (Although it's a distant dream ) it wont make me feel happy because I know that these ranking are pure work of crap.

What matters is your alumni base and in what all companies your folks are getting placed, and in this regard SCIT is far far better than many B-Schools and it doesn't needs a rank for that (YES I AM BOASTING) Since you are going to IMT-N, my best wishes to you.

After slogging for 3 yrs in industry if you find my real life experience as lecture then its your wish. I rejoined this thread just to bring a third dimension of an alumni. I always tried to highlight from an aspirant perspective. SCIT does have it's shortcomings but then there's always scope to improve upon things which I know they are doing gradually.

So buddy, sorry for boring you with my lectures no hard feelings, enjoy your two years, and make sure that you make the best use of these 2 yrs of life, because these 2 yrs will redefine your life and you as a person.

I can't stop smiling while reading through last few post, which came after WL result.

Till the point WL result was not declared everyone was so courteous and gentle in their queries, now suddenly I can see F words being thrown around.

Come on guy WL movement is purely based on the fact that how many get their admission cancelled.

In fact from diff perspective I see it as a positive thing yeah it's never good to see people getting their admission cancelled in mass and thus pushing WL movement in tune of 50-60 people. So I felt good that only 10 positions got moved up (Kill me for this but I cant help :P).

Such is a human psychology that we never support rankings and all, but suddenly as WL result got declared, I saw in few post, people giving reference to XYZ rank where SCIT is ranked in bottom and making others feel good about the fact that its good they couldn't make to SCIT.

The way by which you Accept your defeat/failure defines the crux of your personality. I am damn sure that many of you who didn't got through-if by chance they would have made through, I am sure that there might be few post for showing SCIT's better rank as well.

Anyways, life is a toughest teacher, learn your lessons fast and move on quickly.

Buddy, as far as last year plcmt record is concerned please try to get in touch with some one who is their in the collg. However there's plcmt stat on the website so you can go through that.

As you told about IBS call, point is that SCIT is for those who want to continue in IT leading to a more specialized education in a niche area, so by the time you graduate from SCIT, you will land up with a job in IT/Consulting arena only but more up in the organizational ladder. Like right now you might be having exp as a Coder/Developer/Tester etc, but post MBA you can look for openings like Consultants/ Business Analyst/Functional Analyst etc. It all depends on your mindset that in which direction you want to go, but one thing is sure and pretty obvious that you wont get profile like Mktg manager/Sales manager unlike other B-School graduates who specializes in Majors like Fin/Mktg.

Thus what I want to say is, that if you want to specialize in area like Fin/mktg etc then go for IBS, if you want to move ahead with a niche IT segment then SCIT is the place for you.

Puys, I have a sincere query, I know there r many more guys asking such queries like me... but I still hope, sm1 mite ans me...
Listing my current status...
1) A software engg. job offer from a MNC which is top in its field: Thomson REUTERS. (But package is only 2.25 in the dept of Tax & Accounting)
2) Job offer from UK based MNC - Investis : web designing job(m not interested)
3) Job offer from C-Sam (Java developer)
4) 103 waitlisted in SCIT (did not prepare anything for SNAP/CAT still got the call)
If at all I get admission in SCIT, should I grab the oppurtunity w/o being greedy
or should I join the job, get some experience and participate in the rat race of CAT again ???

Well it all depends on your priorities yogi. People are there who many time go for multiple attempts in order to improve their results and land up in insti like IIM's etc. But then there are people who believe that whatever decent will come their way they will take it up, without wasting time in prepration and consuming one more year.

So if you have patience and MOST IMPORTANT that self belief that if you sit for next year CAT and will be able to make upto some IIM's or Top 10 then continue with your job, prepare hard for next year.

hello seniors i have very poor communication skills, how hard it would be for me survive at scit if i take admission?,and also due to this i am very hesitant to take admission as the life will be really tough for me.

Then what's the alternative for you? To always live with this drawback? Your query reflects a very poor attitude towards such a small challenge. No matter whether its SCIT or any other collg, what matter is your attitude to overcome your drawback. Accept it, work on it and conquer.

Hi,
I am confused between IBS Hydrabad and SCIT Pune.
Which collage should I go for?
IBS Hydrabad has Higher FEES compared to SCIT.
IBS has Lower Avg.Package compared to SCIT.
IBS has large batch size (Number of Students) compared to SCIT.

What should I do?
Please help me out..

When I was an aspirant, IBS Hybad was one option for me, somehow I am not comfortable with their batch size. They have such a huge crowd that firstly you get lost somewhere plus placing each and every student becomes a challenge (I am not challenging their placement record)I believe ROI (Return on Investment) should be kept in mind as well while comparing two colleges (specially when the comparison is between evenly poised colleges).In our time (2007-2009) The total fees inclusive of food and hostel was 3,79,000/-!! and that proved to be saving grace for many as we graduated during recession so many landed up with low paying jobs but even in worst case scenarion people were able to recover their fee within an year or so.Anyways that was our time. Still I feel that SCIT's fee is less in comparison to other collg and considering the fact that you get a full time MBA with Symbi brand name.Still will suggest you to talk to some IBS guy as well, gather more fact and take a well informed decesion.Rahul SinghMBA (Systems)Class of 2009
