I guess we r too early 4 d next yr aspirants......! anyways herez my experience for IMT-Nagpur call...


My Profile:
Name: Atul Sangar
Place: Chandigarh
CAT %ile: 92.72
Acads: BSc(Computers)-Final yr
Work Exp: 2 months - Hutch - Cust. Service Reprsnt.

GD:

Batch strength: planned - 17 but only 9/17 turned up!
8 Boys and 1 girl
Panel(2 ladies, 1 gentleman): Asked d only girl ind grp 2 choose an envelope out of d three which had topics, once selected.....we had a voting in d grp and depending on d majority, we could decide! had it been minority in favour of d topic, we could have got another chance to open d next envelope......BUT JUST BEWARE SINCE WE COULDN'T REVERT BACK FROM THAT TOPIC THEREAFTER!
So our topic was: "Having been associated wd corporate sector, we cannot contribute to the social sector"
had a fair discussion.......there were examples pouring in, economics, work style, individual aspects etc.....

Then everybody individually was asked to summarise within 1min time.

After this we were given a sheet on which we had 2 conclude.....plz mind d difference b/w that 1min verbal summary and written conclusion of 250 wrds limit within 15 min!

After this we left d room and gotta chance 2 interact wd IMT-Gazia students.........believe me guys...they r worth it and they really deserve 2 b there..!!

After 10 min, interviews started and we were called serial wise. My no. was 8th!
I asked all d 7 guys who gave an interview abt it.................everybody had d same reaction....."Pata Nahi Yaar"!
Then it was my turn....walked in:neutral:

Same panel who was there in d GD
G1 - A Gentleman looking like a principal of sm colg,
L1: A very calm lady,
L2: The only smiling face in d panel

G1: So Atul.....you took Non-medical in +2, doin Bsc-computers, wrked in telecom sector....now tell us smthing abt economics....what is ur take on economic condn of India

Me: ws a bit surprised since they didn't give me chance to give a briefing abt myself.....anyways gave all d gyaan......

G1: ok then tell us smthing abt inflation, what is govt. doin to curb it, will those thing really help...??(L1: looking at cieling,L2: looking at me n smiling..:) )
Me: gave all d gyan again wd figures and my take on it.....:)

G1: How do u calculate inflation...?:wow:
Me: Well...that was a bouncer......told them honestly whatever i knew!

G1: What is CRR...?
Me: Told abt it..Cash Reserve Ratio.....RBI thing......!!

G1: But what is d rlvnc of this......wd common man, business houses, banks n everything??:wow: (G1: Looking happy after that pealing.., L1: looking at cieling again, L2: Smiling:) )

Me: Told whatever i knew....

G1: Ok u have bn associated wd Telecom....tell us smthing abt Hutch....!
Me: Gave all d gyann...regarding latest deal wd Vodafone too

G1: Why is vodafone interested 2 purchase and y is Hutch selling.....?
Me: Told their perspective......their vision etc

G1: Tell us smthing abt 3G tech. in India...?
Me: Gyaan again!!

So till now ...they didn't even ask me which specialisation r u looking 4wrd to.....?
Then it ws time 4 me to put in a link.......:grab: hopefully i grabbed d opportunity and told them abt it logically...:grab:

L1:(wd her first question in d intervw)
Tell us amthing abt OOPS....?
Me: Replied decently..(G1: Looking at my whole attire, sitting style, shoulders, shoes, hair, moving hands, L2: listening very carefully....very li'l smile)

L1: (How can u relate genetic algorithm wd telecom...?)
Me: Stumped............Genetics......where did that came 4m....???? told them that i didn't knew abt genetic algorithm.....

G1: Jumps in again.....
What is d relevance of the Boxer puppy in Hutch's ad...?
Would u suggest Vodafone to continue wd d same ad campaign...?
Me: gave gyaan regarding branding and advertising.......

L2:(Wd d only question in d interview)
U have mentioned Cooking as ur hobby, seems interesting.....do u know abt continental food and do u cook it..??
Me: yasn't sure of it....so told her that hobby and profession has a distance b/w them....justified everything and finally gave a NO for d question.....!!

PHEWWWWWWWW this ws it.........now they look up to each other and said thanx to me.....then three of them started writing smthing on their sheets.....:)

Lets C ws that YES or NO......hehehehe

The most surprising part ws that they didn't leave anybody wd a hint.......that whether we were in d game or not.......!

I don't know how to take this but i missed d call 4m Tapmi

CAT %ile : 92.72

Quants: 97.xx%ile
VA: 78.xx%ile
DI: 67.99%ile

I contacted d authorities 4 d same and as i was told,

I MISSED IT BY 0.01%ILE IN DI SECTION.....!!!!:(
The cutoff in DI was 68%ile!!!!

jUST CAN'T BELIEVE IT....!!!

My CAT score is 92.72%ile wd sectionally as:

Quants: 98%ile wd 56% score
VA: 79%ile wd 13% score
DI: 69%ile wd 26% score

Final yr BSc(Computers), decent acad, decent extra-curri but no wrk-exp!
What r my chances of making it 2 IMT_Gazbd/Nagpr...?
Besides this, does d preferences(which we filled in d IMT form) make any difference??
can v change d pref. if we disire so now....?
my pref were:
1) PGP-IMT_Gazbd
2) PGP-IMT_Nagpr
3) PGP(IT)-IMT_Gazbd
4) PGP(IB)_IMT_Gazbd
5) PGP(IT)_IMT_Nagpr
