Hi Seniors,

Just have a small query, if we paid the amount(50k) by 15th and then got selected in any other college and plan to withdrew our amount from GIM...

Will we be getting the full refund or there will be sum partial deduction from the amount...

Also which is the last date by which can we withdrew our amount
(if we want to).....

Request you to go back a few pages on this thread and you'll find this query been answered several times!!
Please refrain from posting a query blindly. PG has provided a SEARCH tab for all the threads, make yourself familiar with PG and only then start posting.

GIM's Admission process:
......Negatives:
1.Poor payment process which was never solved till the end.
2.Prospectus yet to be received.
3.Login using online portal still shows 'payment yet to be done'.
4.Declaring results through mail (which i personally feel is more difficult than displaying a list in the website) ......

I know lot of you are agitated by the way admission process and result declaration is being handled at the moment. We all here have been in your shoes last year and clearly understand your frustration and the bitter feelings.

We faced similar issues last year and raised the same questions to the management. Please keep in mind that it is not easy to work things out with a B-School management. It requires lot of patience and a hell lot of time and dialogue to get a simple thing changed.

The GIM students who are helping you guys out here on this thread have nothing in their hands rite now. We are not even on the campus to help speed up the process. We have our summers going on at the moment and it's very difficult to get in touch with the college admins at the moment.

The least you guys can do is co-ordinate among urselves and list out the questions you wanna ask. Then, only one person make the call and tell everyone else not to call the helpdesk continuously. This way, you can get all the relevant queries answered and the load on the helpdesk also goes down.

You all are management aspirants. Don't wait for some magic to happen once you enter the GIM gate. Agreed things are not running smooth, and neither you nor we can change it overnight. There are lotta ways GIM could have used to declare the result, but they didn't. Now, instead of venting out your frustrations, think about ways to work around it. That's real-time Management.

The mods are trying whatever's there in their capacities. Please try to help eachother and try to go easy on your posts and frustrations.

Those who are on the Waitlist, keep your fingers crossed..You are almost there. :thumbsup:

Few pointers:

1. The confirmation List is the 1st Merit List and the subsequent lists are the Waiting Lists.
   
2. You will get to know ur waitlist rank only after you pay the 50k amount.
   
3. The emails are being sent phase wise so that delivery failures could be addressed efficiently.
   
4. The Foundation Course carries Zero Credits and is a mandatory course wherein the batch is divided as per the weak areas going by your performance in XAT and GD/PI.
   
5. No, you are not required to brush up any quant skills or woteva for the foundation course. It's a very basic course that'll help you all in the subsequent term subjects.

Ok, Mr. Punnet Kapoor thank you for letting us know how poorly GIM administration is handling the admissions and the confirmation and expense sheet blah blah blah and what their job is.

Apne ghar ke PC par baith kar, PagalGuy par post karna with the use of ur technology bahut aasan hai. Par agar kabhi kisi B-school ke office mein ghus kar dekha ho to you will get to know that apart from sending you confirmations and expense sheet there are a million more things. To name a few :

ing to a new campus which is under a tight schedule of constuction so the administrator, director and other staff is busy in that.

2. Jis AICTE approval ke liye sab ke sab din ke 100 post kar rahe the, that is undergoing and for that audits of accounts and other things are going on, so the delay in getting your payment confirmation.

3. And the lady you are calling neighbor hood aunty is one of the most efficient, polite and professional person I have seen in my short life of 22 years and she truly deserves a leave after being bugged by everyone for past 6 months.

4. You talking about staff shortage, then when you learn management then you shall learn a concept called as optimal level. The admissions dept. functions for only 4-5 months of the year and deploying more people to it would only mean more overheads.

5. The college is kind enough to give you an expense sheet and also has given you a fair idea about the things already present in your room. I dont think many colleges give that, and even if it is not given to you, then Goa is a part of India and food rates and charges for other things are more or less same... yaar B.com, engineer log ho itne calculations kar ke loan to le hi sakte ho, till what time you want to get spoon feeded.

6. That some person who is putting up expense sheet is kind enough to share knowledge, and is not doing you a favor.

GIM aa rahe ho achi baat hai , par 1 baad yaad rakhna "Management is managing resources in constraint". Sab kuch utha kar haath mein de diya to kahe ke manager banoge.

Ab groan karo , thank karo, gali do ya meri supari do. Hum to bhaiya aise hi hai.

No Offense meant to any one.. bura nahi laga to achi baat... lag bhi gaya to koi dikkat nahi hai....

I dunno why you took it so personally, I didn't intend any sorta personal attack on anyone. But if you still felt offended, then my apologies for the same. It shows that you consider GIM as your own family, which is a good thing, and hence ur post clearly shows how indignant you myt have felt on reading my not-so-euphemized post. I can go on n on justifying my post, giving u some points on resource ramp up-down, and having a system in place for a simple automatic email notification, thereby using the technology smartly, which is already there in front of us,,, and in turn make this thread unproductive for the rest of the group, but don't worry, I won't reply to u in ur tone,,coz that's the difference between You and I, my friend.

GIM's gonna be my family too, and I'd be worried about its image in the market,,and that's how we all will come together to make the brand GIM even stronger and better. So consider my post as a feedback from a customer who's gonna be paying/investing around 7 lacs for the product called MBA as of now.

No hard feelings bro,,,,hope we take things objectively from here. :|

There are certain things that I fail to understand.

1. There is some Jenny Ma'am in the Admissions Office who's apparently on leave for a coupla weeks. [ and everyone talks about her as if she's some neighborhood aunty ] When the college knows that this is the peak time of admission queries and updates, then how can something as important as an admission, be dependent on just one person. Why is there a staff inadequacy, sply. in times like these?

2. A mail on behalf of the Director is sent to those who have confirmed their seat. But the mail was sent to just one person, and a few others in the CC !!! There are so many students, including me, who have not received that particular mail. Some guy mentioned that he actually called up the admissions office to request the person there to send him the copy of that mail, because they are too busy to reply to ppl's emails. Talk about technology.

3. The college is supposed to inform the confirmed students of the on-campus facilities including hostel details before-hand, as we need to aware of what all things we myt have to take with us wen we move to Goa, and what all things myt be redundant.

Is it that college is totally dependent on its students' activities on a site called Pagalguy???? There would be so many students, who myt not even be a member of this forum. Who takes the responsibility to apprise such students of the relevant information and updates? I myself have logged in and posting this after a long gap. Had I not come across the Director's mail which thankfully someone has posted a few pages back, who'd have informed me about it??? No One.

I have nothing against the college or its students at all. Infact, I'm more than happy to be part of the GIM family for the 2010-2012 batch. And, I'm sincerely thankful to the seniors for being so helpful to us even in their busy schedule. But my afore-mentioned queries are more like questioning the management. We are going to be a part of this institute that is ranked for the way it imparts management knowledge to its students. Then how can such an institute afford to display such a poor show of its own managerial capabilities???
I completely agree that there'd be a heavy rush at the office,,and a hell lotta work for the staff,,more than I can even imagine. I acknowledge that. But that's exactly what their job is!!! Consider urself in such a job after ur MBA. Do you think excuses like "there's a heavy rush at the counter",,,or "Jenny ma'am's on leave this week" gonna save u ur job???

Students myt have to apply for a loan for their education. Why is it that some guy is uploading his fees expense sheet on the group, and others are editing it with their details and using it. What is the institute doing about it??? Why has it not sent these documents to each and everyone who has confirmed the seat?? I'm sure we students expect a lill' more professionalism that this.

My apologies for spamming, as this post is not intended to start off a discussion. But if GIM management is so dependent on PG, then i hope they come across this post and do something about it.

Hey yatin!! all wat i hav heard is dere is no such dress code in the institute...but it is expected that we shd be handsomely dressed....either in formals or in casuals......:)

True,, there's no such dress code as of now. In most of these B-Skools, it's basically 'Smart Casuals',,but that doesn't mean we end up being Govinda of the campus. :p
T-Shirts with collars fall under such category, but when I went to GIM for my interview, almost everyone was dressed like a brand ambassador of Pagalguy or GIM wearing those quoted black t-shirts! :)
Smart Dressing is preferred in most b-skools as it adds to the comfort for an individual as well.

i hav a question fr the moderators pls giv som insight ............
i am a fresher doing btech and most of the guys i saw durin my pi were with work ex and gr8 profils ....i m in a dilemma wht r my prospects when the final placements cum as i hv heard tht finally evn durin the plcmnts the wrk ex counts big tim...probably the highest package getters r work ex guys...to add to my agony ths year the seats hv gon upto 240 which means more work ex people more competition (no offence against any1 jst tht btech makes u pragmatic also an mba is a one tim affair)....
because f my negligenc i hv sufferd in my btech ,bt dnt wnt to repeat the sam situation again and dnt wnt to strt the course being a weak link.(cause i knw my future then ,heard spirits r cheap thr...........).
seniors pls help me hop u got wht i m tryin to say..........

I've converted the call too,,tho' seniors myt be in a betta position to answer ur query,,all I'd like to point out is that ur placement would entirely depend on the profile u build for urself over the period of 2 yrs @ GIM. B-Skool is jus a platform provided to us to do that, rest all depends entirely on us as individuals and what exactly we want from the college. The work-ex part becomes crucial in terms of package u can bargain during ur placements, rest is again ur profile [ irrespective of ur work-ex background] and of-course ur bargaining skills. And at that time, u myt wanna go for a good profile placement rather than a good package, or even both!
I guess things will become a lot clearer after the 1st yr of our MBA, coz that's wen we decide upon the specialization and hence the final path, so let's jus wait for the reality to unfold itself.
