I couldn't think of a better forum to post my question.
I have a final call from IIMA for PGP. While going through the site of IIMA, all I read was how the 2 year MBA would change us into top managers and leaders for tomorrow. I am fresher with no work experience so far and personally I believe that I am not cut out for a corporate job nor do I see myself as a leader of any top-notch firm. I was planning to work for 1 year (was placed in a consulting firm) and then decide whether I want to continue working or go for research as a career.
Now the IIM's selection procedure was to make me solve the CAT, which was pretty easy for me (well yes! I do have the aptitude!) and then the interview was on my undergrad academics which also went well. They do not put any emphasis on your leadership qualities or managerial skills during the interview. If I show some faith in their selection procedure, I should believe that this is the best career option for me available. Also, without doubt I have an admission offer from one of the best colleges in India, Asia rather, and it would really difficult to let go of this offer.
So my question is, whether studying for 2 years at IIMA would develop in me qualities (communication, decision making, assertiveness, far-sightedness and others) which would help me succeed in a corporate job and transform me into a manager? Or the general personality of an individual remains the same and studying at a B-school is not going to change it? Kindly give any inputs you have on my query.
