So many classes we attend, Jargons we read, We start using them even without noticing that we do..:)..Opportunities we get to hear the veterans from the industry..But it is never as soothing and comforting as it feels when you hear your father give you those words of wisdom..:) Considering IMI as a family & the Change Maestro himself Dr Pritam Singh today addressed us (HR 2nd year) on Change management & leadership!
The industry calls him "The guru"..Today we know why!

I have converted IMI-PGDHRM and am joining the same... I m really passionate abt HR.. and I am sure to see myself doing well as one 10-15 yrs down the line... But offlate a few of my colleagues have been discouraging me abt doing MBA-HR from IMI as it is relatively new ... I will have around 20 months of work-ex when I join the college... and I dunn wish to work another year and try agn next yr due to family restrictions...I know I can't get a hefty package unlyk the one's marketing/finance people get..but then.. Is it really something to be bothered so much abt.. 9-11L would suffice for me... do I realisticlly stand a chance for the same... Will I get good profiles from the companies that visit IMI where I can see a good growth in future??

[CENTER]What is different in IMI-HR?[/CENTER]

1)It is a dedicated HR course unlike various other colleges where HR subjects would form only a part of electives. Aimed at developing the core attributes in an individual as far as the knowledge, qualities and technicalities are concerned for one to be a good HR professional.
2)The program includes courses of general management also like marketing, finance, economics, operations, statistics, research etc. And all of them are taught with a perspective of its utility in the field of HR.
3)Personal Growth Lab : It is a course offered only in selected colleges and we are glad to have it. Facilitated by Dr Bhupen Srivastava, it is a glimpse into psychology, team building, group dynamics etc. With the help of T-sessions, it is all in all a practical subject that teaches the above stated. It includes an outbound trip that has activities which we would recommend each one to experience, not for professional but personal growth.
4)NGO Internship : We have a semester totally for NGO internship of 3-4 weeks. This is in order to make us all socially responsible and also as CSR activities are on the rise, this internship gives us a prim view.
5)Summits & Events : We have an HR club The human edge that arranges for periodic events that bring us closer to reality and give immense corporate exposure with veterans from the field coming and sharing experiences. This is apart from the guest lectures which form 20% of the curriculum.
6)Summer internship : An 8-10 week summer internship after the 1st year. Am sure everyone is aware of it all.

The placements have seen a rise in the years and with Dr Pritam Singh, the corporate connect has increased leaps and bounds. We have seen smiling faces leave the college. We hope to see the smiles widen a bit more..:)

If this does not satisfy you then probably you can rethink! & 9-11 Lacs..would suggest don't restrict your dreams to such figures! You might just perform well and bag even better offers! There isn't any end to it. 5 years down the line if you dont enjoy what you are doing and still have 1 lac to spend n the remaining 1 lac in the bank as monthly saving i do not know if that would be fair a decision!

Request you to kindly come up with the approx placement stats, as we got to know about 21 domestic & 29 international as highest packages.

Jus approx stats .....It does matter for many , as u have seen most f us have been perturbing u again n again, PGDHR....

Like Ayush said, we cannot really quote the data till it is out on an official basis. Though the figures you just stated must have shown you that it would be good for the rest also.

Please refer to the last year placement reports to get a fair idea.

Rest assured, If the economy permits, we shall all work hard and get super packages! It isnt the beginning or end of anything! You wont go disappointed am sure.. :)

I am really confused whthr to opt fr PGDM or PGDHRM..Seniors plz clarify sum doubts here::

(1)If I select PGDM, but at d end of 1st yr i decide to go fr HR, den can i select HR electives(in 2nd yr) and sit fr companies cmng fr HR, or is it that only PGDHRM ppl are allowed to sit fr these cmpanies during placements??

(2) What are the companies that cm for PGDHRM, and the highest domestic salary offered?

One more query: As the banks are closed today i cudnt mk d DD..2moro is Sunday..so if d DD reaches IMI by Wed/Thur..will dere be any issues in my admission..??

As has already been discussed, HR is a dedicated course in IMI. You can take limited number of electives in the 2nd year ie 1 or 2, but companies would not offer you an HR profile.

Please refer to the previous year placement report for the companies and details on salary.

No issues if you submit your DD by wed/thur. Just make sure that the courier/postal service is a reliable one.. :)

You have bright chances of a convert at number 4.
The average package is around 8-9 lpa (till the last year). You shall calculate the ROI based on that :).
For lateral placements you need to have 24 months of work experience as a mandate!

Agree on that, IMI has been transparent in coming out with the fact that buffer calls are given out. Also, it is upto the applicants to research the college's various policies before applying (I went through last year's admit thread, saw the holding list concept, which i had clarified during my interview)..what may be causing a bit of worry is the fact that even if one has a confirmed call, if other candidates pay the money before you and fill up the seats than there is a scenario where one could end up without any seat (if no one withdraws), despite being selected! :splat:

It is undoubtedly a college!that is just trying to ensure that a proper protocol is followed.It is a corporate sponsored college and we will in no case ever need to make it a money extortion system!

This piece of information is very much a part of the mail/report that you might have received as part of your provisional admission letter.
