What happened to the low applications was well explained by director's report.... secondly GIM gives admits to people based on their profiles not only on the basis of one day of performance in an exam.... And if you think people with low percentiles are not good.. then you seriously need to change your thoughts...
In our batch the cut-off was 93%ile.. and in my junior batch the cut-off was 83%ile.. but my junior batch is much more talented than ours, they have secured better summers than us.. and I am sure their final placements would be much better than us... So ur score in XAT is never a representation of one's talent and intelligence....
If GIM got 6000 applications still they called 1800 people for interview and selected 240 out of them.. so the ratios is 1 out of 6 gets selected.. which is the same as any Top B-School...
And I wish you get into some B-School and then after that we will talk.. we believe in the reputation of our college and we defend it till the lasts breath... There is no doubt about it that we Love our college and nothing will ever change it...
And GIM gives admit based on XAT which has few good b-schools under it compared to CAT which has more institute taking its score.. so comparing 2 b-schools which take admits based on completely different exams is not really viable.. to compare 2 different data there needs to be some common denominator ( basic algebra)

This i picked up from GIM site.
The final selection will be made tentatively in April 2011 on the basis of XAT/ATMA scores (50% weightage), the candidates past academic performance (10% weightage), performance in face to face evaluation process (30 % weightage) and work experience (10% weightage)When i attended the Interview on Mar 2nd, in my batch there were two 97 % lers in XAT. Both had 85 + in 10th and 12th, had more than 30 months exp. During interview both were told that they will get a final call.
But what's shocking is, none of them feature even in wait list.
Coz according to the selection criteria quoted above, at least they were good enough to feature in wait list even if they got minimal marks in GD/PI(which accounted only 30% of total marks).
Recently came to know their result, tot of sharing this.
