nice name man! cud u tell me what kind of topics we might face for essay writing and some one above was talking bout abstract topics for GD. so will it be a case study or a baffling adage from old times which we have to disscuss bout by relating it with our practical world of today.

Essay writing isnt a big fanfare, a topic woold be declared(dont remember if we had options or not...i think we did), it could be some general issue, could be current affairs, in rare cases abstract as well(that pretty much is everything, you'd say..)

We had GD PLUS case study, so there goes your doubt into a mumble of an abuse..

Cases would be general, typically to investigate your inner skillset, like leader ship/team work/ (ability to get yourself and your entire group disqualified) etc...no one would expect you to solve a case on risk hedging or global marketing strategies....not now atleast.

GD ka topic-mmm........could vary a lot dear. Current affairs topics are pretty rampant, though they might throw in some general issue if they want some chaos, or they might thro in an abstract topic if they wanna relax their ear drums. BTW, i apologise, i somehow managed to forget my GD topic...

Natakbaaz- Great to know a fellow stage lover. Because you're applying to marcom, YES your experience of the stage WILL be a GOOD advantage in PI, but depends on how you describe it out there. So do me a favor- get your thoughts together about your stage experience, and prepare well about its various "questionable" facets..am sure you'll do well..

Do meet me once u get thru. My batchmates were stupid enough to choose yours truly as the Extracurricular representative..would love getting people like you for the theatre club!!

Its indeed very sad that SNAP scores will not be considered for final admission. I scored 111.5, lost the edge of 14.25 marks !!!!

Congrats on your great score in SNAP. Proves you have great stuff within your brains.

But can you display the stuff that you know?can u tell the whole world about your ideas?can u convince angry customers/bosses/(teachers..heh heh)?can you COMMUNICATE and THINK ON YOUR FEET?

A written test judged only the basic skillset that you WILL need to be a good manager/study management. BUT the next stage is the stage of selection-how well can you articulate your thought processes.So a person with say a 98 in SNAP possesses to some degree the same logical/analytical/linguistic skillset that a person with 150.Maybe his CPU is amazing at math..great, but for now-TALK!

Symbi is well known for selecting great profiles, not math/data geniuses. So its your overall personality that matters.You guys already proved through SNAP that you have what it takes to study management ..now gear up for stage II!!

If your "french beard" is something that you are comfy with, you neednt worry about it. Also, i do not think that penetrating questions shall be asked about the origin and reason of existence of your decorative element, i somehow think that the interview is going to be about how good you are to get into Marcom.....Just kidding man...

....Dont worry a lot.Just ensure that u turn up looking presentable.the rest is all dependent on your brains and not on your beard. Besides, we already have a really talented guy in marcom Year I with a french beard like none other(lots in dual too..french beard, goatees, the works..)...so you actually might prove to be some company for him...

...Do well in the GDs and PIs man, done worry about anything else!!

MBA Dual and Marcom generally do not have a very wide difference in these stats. Marcom goes right with marketing, just that marcom also targets ad and media agencies, and their salaries arent always the highest, but the prospects after say 1-2 yrs of working are immense.

Also, the batch size is 40 for marcom, so they get lapped up by marketing-ad-media agencies...the same(if not better!) also goes for the rest of the batch(dual)..

One more point-a lot of commotion can be seen relating to the GK SNAP scores, and a lot of posts are talking about SIBM being connected to it.To make it clear, the SNAP administration is not connected with the SIBM admin directly.SIBM is not the only institute taking snap scores, so it isnt wise to directly involve SIBM in the SNAP score faux pas(IF there has been one, which itself i think is not very plausible) discussion.

hi.I'm currently in my B.E computer engineering from a reputer engineering college in pune . My performance so far is as follows :
10th - 81% I.C.S.E
12th - 78% C.B.S.E
Three years of computer engineering till now - Avg : 50 % (pune university)

I know That my scores are very mediocre..especially my engineering performance , and i do not have any major extra curricular activities that are worth mentioning. Still, inspite of all this can a good score in the SNAP test help me to get into either SIBM or SCMHRD ?? i.e do i even stand a chance ..or is it not worth trying at all ?? All those of you who are in these institutes will have a fair idea of what it takes to get into either of these institutes, So any advice by you will be greatly appreciated.

P.S : I have zero work experience.Is this a major factor while applying ??

OF COURSE u stand a chance! Give SNAP, and if u qualify in the basic conditions, no one can stop you from getting into these institutes. Maybe u dont have many extra currics on your resume, but if u have a good GD/PI, coupled with a good SNAP score, its not too big an issue.Just tht-try and score in your final year of grad, such tht you satisfy the entry conditions.
Ensure top performance in snap.Brush up your curent affair knowledge, and go smash the gd.Present a decent and composed personality in the PI, and u very well have a seat in these two instis with your name on them!

And you mustnt even think right now if its WORTH TRYING...at max, what'll you miss dude?the opportunity is given-now its your game....go play!

I see a lot of commotion about the hardcore science questions that appeared in last year's snap paper, and shattered many-a-commerce students' dreams, i (strictly my personal opinion) think this year they will have a better question pattern.

As far as the GK section is concerned, for preparations sake, nothing can beat a good national daily.In case of absence of such objects at your residences,a sojourn to the nearest paper/daily office(or the local raddiwala) may prove to be of utmost delight in securing a proper source of chronologically arranged information.

May I also take the liberty of suggesting an excellent publication called Competition Success Review, which if not in toto, atleast is useful for the GK capsules given in the end.An yearwise compendium may also prove useful to those who have been not-so-particular about general awareness before, and should no doubt bring one at par with the mentally "better armed".

Tenth standard science, however, can hardly be called specialised knowledge, and thus shouldnt create a problem for those who werent engaged in other businesses during their school classes.

And of course, although the rumour on this thread is that there shall be no sectional cut offs, unless explicitly specified in the supplied bulletin, desist from following ONLY that course of thinking.
