Hi All,

Please post your thoughts comparing the following:

I've an acceptance at MAYS, with a very small $6000 scholarship + Resident Tuition Status that would save around another $15,000. Is this a good deal compared the following schools:

1. Rochester (Simon) - Close to NY, but could be more expensive even after a possible scholarship
   
2. Wake Forest
   
3. U of Pittsburgh (Katz) - Good opportunities for scholarship
   
4. Syracuse - Close to NY?
   
5. SUNY Buffalo - very affordable, NY, but not so renowned?
   
6. McGill University - Costs would be same as A&M;, but it's McGill.
   

Please provide your comments, as I just can't figure right now. :drinking:

I thinks among the options you have Mays is the best bet. cost of living and brand name are equally good and the tuition fee is less as well..
The only other option which you may consider is Simon which should be given priority only if you get high scholarship(which I doubt they give).

if financing your education is not a pblm.. no doubt its going to be mccombs,..

have admits from many but confused in selection from these 3. Request ppl to help me out with your inputs...

(+ve aspects: 1. Tier 1 college in Canada and widely recognized around the world 2. Decent international representation. 3. Easy immigration and job placements after completion of graduation.4. My wife will get a work permit.. not sure if that translates to getting a job)
-ve's: 1. no scholarship, 2.Canada location(i initially preferred to be in US more than canada)

Georgetown universtiy- mcdonough school of business with 20K scholarship
(+ve aspects: 1. Somewhere between Tier1 and 2. Dencenly ranked across all ranking lists. 3. Location in Washigton DC to have good networking advantage. 4.
-ve aspects: 1. Expensive even after the scholarship.
2. Immigration laws make job seeking difficult.)

Texas A&M; - 27K scholarship
(1. +ve aspects whole MBA gets completed in 40K including living
2. Decently ranked and good recognition.
3. Gets completed in 16 months
4. Small class size.

-ve aspects: 1. Tier 2 COLLEGE in US.
2.Immigration laws make job seeking difficult.)

Tough choice for me to decide.

Any inputs or suggestion will be appreciated.

I haven't yet heard from them. Brian said that the final decision would be available sometime after 15 jan.. Since he would be back in univ only on 10th Jan .. i am not expecting the result to come anytime bfore 17-20th jan..Will drop a mail if I dont get to hear by then.

Just 3 more days to go and there is absolutely no activity

If we are dinged and we are supposed to get a snail mail then shud we not receive it by now?

if they dispatch the mails on the deadline, then it is a wait for another 4-7 days

How do say that its 3 more days.. is there any decision deadline mentioned anywhere?

I dropped an email to the admissions team.. and they said they are yet to review the files. the admission decision will be out soon(dont know what is the definition of SOON for them)

received an admit... Waiting to hear from other colleges. Rotman fees is huge... tough choice to make now...

i was interviewed by claire gumus. but haven't got to hear anything from her yet. planning to call her/ drop an email to her if i dont get to hear for the next 1-2 days.

Had my interview with Brian on dec30.. most of them were general questions and a case question..checking logical thinking capabilities..

puys, any insights into cox vs olin vs boston??

According to me all the three schools are equally good in their areas and selection is purely based on personal interests, goals and preferences.

Olin is definitely ranked high(of course rankings change from website to website) among the three. Proximity to washington is definitely a good but cost of living I heard is higher.

I had a coffee chat with SMU alumni and was surprised to learn few +ve aspects about cox as well. It locational advantage and reputation in the locality is definitely a big +. With such high scholarship.. SMU is a good option you may need to consider according to me.

Boston is definitely not cheap... but if you are very specific or attracted towards certain aspects/curriculum you can probably give a thought and go for it.

decision for 1st round applicants seems to be out. waitlisted..
