Have been pretty late to join the bandwagon here...

First of all congos to everyone all the folks who have made it to IIM Cal... Its definitely going to be a life changing and perspective shaping 2 years for you...

There a definitely a lot of quantifiable things like our rocking placements, the godlike faculty that we have, the sheer quality of people who will join in with you, the no of options available to you to develop yourself etc etc which will make your decision to join IIM Cal the best one for you but other than that there is also something really special about the place and all the IIMcians, that you start totally missing all that the moment you are out be it your internship or when you finally pass out....

The other on thing that I have noticed pretty starkly throughout my internship would the general attitude towards living life... at Cal we guys compete but not in any way or so to harm my own batchmate...

Another important thing that comes to me is the pure amount of choice that Cal offers each and every student and the various avenues of growth like all our clubs, an unforgiving and wonderful rivalry between IIMC and XL in sports, the B School fests etc in addition to the excellent acads that C has...

Pro Bhai come on... its not about what guys at X,Y,Z do... the fact is that here at C its lot more about the choice... we may have as much workload as you guys have if not more... but there is always a lot of emphasis laid out having that choice of choosing what you want to do... and trust me life here is not that all together chill...
When it comes to slogging guys here can slog there ass of like crazy but if and when we party we do even that also like crazy...
About the quizzes we do have subjects with quizzes almost every lecture... if that cheers you up a little...:):):):)

This place rocks.

The faculty is too good,given their godly prfiles they are so down to earth and treat studetns as equals. I am really happy that I have come here. For people who are intersted in extra curricular activities this placec offers a wide range of choices. We have two 100 ptilers joining C this time.That makes RG even more serious business..

Sid has already spoekn about infra etc...IIM C is having much better infra this time.

Have had a real hectic first 2 weeks here at C... but boy am I enjoying it all... my few words about C and here it goes...

This campus is a dream come true for any nature freak... the lakes, birds, the trees all make it a really fabulous place...
The facilities provided rock with the swimming pool, the quality of rooms, the night canteens that operate in every hostel till around 4 in the night, the scale of the library, the intimidating audi... you get to feel the presence of all the previous batches... the history associated with each and every thing... its all in all awesome...

And yes there is also the fact that almost every hostel comes with its own personalised lake view...

The PGP2's are really there for us literally anytime of the day... from the trivial to acads to absolutely anything on earth... you have a presentaion to make in class in the morning and are having some doubts go to any wing senior at any time and get it cleared... its an absolutely amazing camraderie... unmatchable is the word for it...

The profs are all GOD's in their respective subjects and they very well make sure that you are kept real busy... from assignments to presentations to cases there is everything.... but one thing is that the way they teach makes even the most difficult of fundas easily understandable...

And if you were not already really busy add the miriad of various top notch club activities that we have here at JokaLand... and you will know simply why this campus is a hotspot of activity and buzz 24*7...

Puys seeing the inactivity on this thread... here is some food for thught for everyone to pour in their views...

The recent crisis in Pakistan's Red Mosque... and subequent storming of the same by Pak troops... is religious terror finally coming a full circle in the case of Pakistan... even more interesting what will be the direct consequences for India if pakistan becomes a Sharia State as demanded by the gunmen in the mosque...

Is India's silenece on the lack of a democratic process in Pakistan and further no earnest measures from its side to bringing back democracy to Pakistan count against it or better against the bilateral relations in the long run....

At the onset this is the one thread that I always wanted to post on... and no since I am finally in the place I wanted to be I think its more than appropriate to summarise a journey that has taught me a lot of things, got me a lot of new friends, given me a few heartbreaks and finall something I will cherish all my life...

My CAT journey started out in August 2005... had just got over with my 3rd year exams and kinda had wanted to start with what I wanted to do after my engineering... was kinda set on the fact that I wanted to get on with management for my higher education as 4 years in engineering had given me good reasons for the same...

So in August 2005 joined IMS Correspondence course... did kinda really well in the test series... and put in the qork enough to get everything covered up... was offered the crash course by IMS based on my erformances in the SIMCAT... in the end CAT came and the format and everything was a total surprise... was taken back a little by the same... anyways I put in a decent enough show... and was really hopeful about my results... the results came out and was really heart broken to see that I had no got through any of the IIMs... and when the score came later... got to know that I had missed it by just a whisker... had got 98.85... that made it even more clear in my mind what I wanted to do and where I wanted to do my MBA from...

Completed college and joined HSBC Software Development in July 2006... searched around for other instis as wasn't really happy with the effort put in by IMS earlier... this time a friend of mine suggested me TIME... so went and joined TIME for crash course... I suppose it was a necssity in my case as it ensured that at least during the weekends JAVA was out of my head and the I did manage to dedicate a little time to my prep... I had a decent showing in the AIMCATs...

Finally the D Day came... this time around even though the pattern changed I was better prepared for the same...it did not fluster me... had a very decent attempt and when I left the exam hall I was really happy with my attempt... the English section was kind of a lottery... anyways immediately after CAT had a severe bout of Jaundice and then it was back to serious work...

The day the results came was really tensed up and was really happy to see that I had got calls from A,C,L,I,K... was overjoyed... it was at about this time that I got hooked onto PG too... anyways started my GD prep... my interviews all of them except L wnet really well...

Was really exasperated by the delay, due to reservation, in the results though... and finally when the results came I was cloud nine when I came to know that I had converted C... the college I dont know why but I wanted to be in...

And now I am writing this one week after I have joined IIM C... thanks a lot to all of the guys who directly or indirectly through PG have helped me out in one way or the other...

May be they get too bored with the perception of 'cold-war' that the whole world has for them n want to try sth in real. On the serious note, I think the Russia is more responsible for this than the US which is quite clear from the various comments coming from President Putin for quite a long time. No doubt about the progress that Russia has made under the regime of Putin but at the same time it has led to it being more ambitious n regaining what all supremacy it once had in form of USSR. The recent standoff between them in G8 over missile issue n subsequent Russian advice of shifting its base to Azerbaizan adds more to it. I'm not pro-American but US is quite justified in its reasoning of having a missile shield (N Korea n Iran issue) which is vehemently opposed by Russia as it may insulate US from them. So, having ambition of getting world's supremacy left them with no option except to end the treaty.

Hey what I cant understand is how exactly does a missile base in Poland help safeguard the US from an attack from either North Korea or Iran. US is just using this as cover up for hiding its real intent which is to be able to dictate terms to Russia. This is for the simple reason that even though Russia has lost most of the control that it had during the cold war years but even now its the only country powerful enough to stand against the US.

For that matter I found the solution given by Putin to be a masterpiece. By saying that he could allow the missile base to be placed in Azerbaijan he has added a whole new angle to the argument. For if the US is actually really worried about Rogue states than this should not serve as a big hindrance to its plans.


And about the treaty as fas as I know it was the US who first pulled out of the treaty as it was standing in the way of it building its missile defense shield.
